    Thank you so much for sharing easy recipes for many local favorite foods! Some of them are hard to find, don't taste the same, or just non-existent on the mainland, so being able to make it yourself helps to satisfy any cravings while living away from home. Love your videos, great work!!

      Oh Snap! You said "Rice Flour". I need to check if Pukalani Foodland has any. Crossing my fingers they have some or I'll have to check Kahului on Monday. Wish me luck somewhere has some Rice Flour. I'm dying to make some of that sweet Japanese dessert. I LOVE Alllll Your recipes. God Bless
      You & Your Beautiful Family.

    I've watched a lot videos of this recipe and I can assure you this is probably the most complete recipe of rice cake because you take the time to explain some details to make it successful.
    Thank you 😊 This looks yummy

    Thank you. It looks amazing. I attempted with brown rice flour and it was a fail. I need to find white rice flour.

      Hi I know that I’m a bit late to this comment but at face value brown rice flour should also work for rice cake but you need to drastically increase the fermentation time or/and add a bit more yeast to it. Brown rice flour has more fat and the nutrients aren’t as good accessible as in white rice flour. it’s the same as baking with whole grain flour to baking with superfine flour. But on the positive side the brown rice flour cake should taste much richer and nuttier.

    Hi Relle, is it the 10 inch steamer basket that you’re using?

  • @OWK000
    @OWK000 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The thing about those bamboo steamers, is they make whatever you are cooking in them taste like bamboo. It's a STRONG flavor. No one every talks about this. I have heard from a friend just steam the heck out of them empty to purge the bamboo taste out.

    Hi….love all your yummy recipes…….regarding Chinese rice cake……why does everyone use metal for the steam cooking……..why not Pyrex……is there a reason?

    • @chilarue123
      @chilarue123 หลายเดือนก่อน

      compared to pyrex, aluminum trays create attractive-looking honeycomb 👍

      I am not sure. That's how I was taught. Heat conduction is different between the two. Might affect the recipe. Might be worth trying.

    I followed the measurements but my batter is really thick. I added about 1.5 cups of water I think and it’s still not runny. 😬

    • @KeepingItRelle
      @KeepingItRelle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using the right type of flour? It should be a very runny batter.

    • @uyenha1300

      Thank you for your reply. Yes, I’m using rice flour. It’s so strange why I couldn’t get it watery.

    Wet the knife and use a thinner knife, not a table knife
