I thought about swapping forks but in the end it' not worth it for me since I have the space for more bikes, and it would change the geometry possibly making the bike dangerous to use.
I buy my bikes used and cheap, so i can buy a 200€ bike with pannier racks, a rigid fork, built in lock, and dynamo lights, OR use my crosscountry bike and swap the fork (minimum 50€), get the racks and spend around 100€ for a basic pair, get some 20€ lights that I will have to keep buying batteries for, swap out the stem/headset 20€, get ergo grips 10€.... that's already 190€ for add-ons that I'll spend time swapping, plus this way i get to have to different purposed bikes.
More cleaning, more maintenance, more space used, but If I regret it I can sell one of them, whilst selling a used fork is almost impossible tbh, no one wants them.
