I made the switch and the idea of going back to wood is absurd. They sound the SAME as wood. They don't break. Most importantly they are consistent pair to pair and stick to stick. They are perfectly straight and always sound the same unlike a wood stick that gradually starts to sound thinner as it wears. I've bought multiple pairs of the exact same wood sticks, even at the SAME time and have always had them be noticeably different in terms of weight. I'm old school all the way and hate change. But when something is obsolete, it's obsolete. Tradition is great when there is benefit behind it. There is no benefit to wood sticks that Ahead sticks don't eclipse. And they're not even expensive! Replaceable sleeves and multiple tip options.....what's not to love? They say they last as long as 6-10 pairs of wooden sticks but guys in the field are pretty much saying they last indefinitely unless abused. Replace the sleeves ($3.55/pair) every six months or so and you're good to go.
vibration reduction in sticks is a great feature every drummer should be going after, i am getting some aheads soon but even the zildjian anti-vibe (rubber-core, not rubber dipped) helps when playing 16th and 32nd note hi-hat patterns and playing same patterns makes tons of vibration when moved onto the rims of the kit, these will make your 32nd note pattern feel like a 16th, and make 16th notes feel like you are playing 8th notes
5B has an .030" wall thickness weighs 58 grams and the 5B-ROCK has a .035 wall thickness weighs 65 grams, Externally they are identical. 5BR last 20% longer
I loved my 5A Aheads, but it felt heavier, felt more like a 5B or heavier. So am getting the 7A and see how it feels. :) I'm assuming it will feel like a wood 5A.
I've always wanted a pair and finally got em when I saw some on sale. To be honest, I was never worried about the vibration of wood sticks, I let the stick take the vibrations....not my hands. I just wanted a different feel, weight and balance to play around with. Nicely made sticks in my opinion and I like using them for heavier stuff....glad I bought them put it that way.
Please Ahead you have got to make your own version of Vic Firth's Extreme 5B/Regal Tip's 5BX drumsticks, which are like regular 5B's but a half inch longer. Those would be so perfect!
Found this: "Tendinitis: Because this word is based on the Latin word tendo, with a genitive singular form of tendinis, and a combining form that is therefore tendin, the spelling tendonitis is irregular."
I'm not sure how their measuring works for these sticks as i'm sure wether the stick is in A or B weightage class as they are designed with a non holo structure by the sounds of things, but if i'm correct the lower the number the thinner the stick. For example a 4A is thinner then a 5A. Hope this helps lol i'm not the best at explaining as I don't know exactly how different these sticks are compared to regular drumsticks.
Up to 2 years? Bullshit. I've had mine for 12 years, still using the original sleeves. Medium-heavy playing. Well worth the $30. Even for those who prefer wood sticks, not a bad idea to have some of these in your stick bag. As for tendonitis, learn how to hold your sticks and quitcherbitchen.
i broke the tip off 2 pairs of wood sticks top when. i was a noob. granted i dont do rim shots. i fuck my knees and hips up more than anything but unless u play really fast technical shit u shouldnt break anything unless u r a noob
These seem interesting!!! & must be pricier than your average sticks if they have replaceabLe tips.. Need to find a store that sells em around.. Can always rely on #brookLyn or zzounds MF GC etc.
i already do genius. i broke like 2 sticks in my life. maybe cause i already broke so many guitar strings i learned to play less stupid/harder than i need to.
I had a show to play 8 years ago in Middle school , 7th grade . I bought some 5b's . Some asshole decided to sneak these out of my backpack . When I got to the show , I realized the sticks were not in my backpack . I was very Dissapointed . Oh Well ! I might get another pair in the future .

Just ran mine through the paces. Never felt anything like that before. Very inviting.

But it took a month for my marching ahead sticks for snare to break
So how do rimshots sound with those sticks

Bill Day The Rick Allen signature stick fits that criteria
Lars Ulrich and Phil Rudd 🔥
Are the ok to use with electronic 🥁 drums?
Would these have a better reaction time than wooden 🥁 drumsticks?
background beats drown out your talking but awesome vid and dope sticks
anyone know the difference between the 5b and 5b rock?
I love these sticks, but they're so slippery, and I hate grip tape.
2:09 That would be "tendonitis" - with an "o" :)
Tendinitis is more commonly accepted and used as the correct version.

Is it possible to play rim clicks with them?
As long as you don't put grip wraps on you get a very nice chick sound from them.
Yeah, and it sounds pretty clean actually
Can someone tell me which pair of Ahead Drumsticks are the thinnest??
+Sander Børresen I think they showed 7As, these are pretty thin....
7A
7A's

Anyone else a Lars Ulrich fan?
Blubber I am
me
Me (kind of)
Yep
I know people love to hate on Lars, but think of how many thousands (tens of thousands maybe?) that he inspired to play.

i already do genius. i broke like 2 sticks in my life. maybe cause i already broke so many guitar strings i learned to play less stupid/harder than i need to.
I still got some from years ago
Sure! Why not!
Why not? If they're comfortable...
