I just had this conversation on another landscaping channel about weed fabric. With mulch I think weed fabric is worthless. First year great. After that no good with mulch. Mulch breaks down each year and fabric gets deeper under the ground over the year. Weeds grow right on top of fabric in mulch that breaks down. You want to plant anything new good luck. Fabric will be deep and will prevent any new plants getting good root systems. I’ve had many of jobs removing fabric over a foot under the ground. My opinion is only use fabric with stones. Fabric will always stay right under the stone and does two things great. Keeps the stones separated from dirt and will help greatly with weeds. I do a lot of flower bed maintenance work and as far as weeds can never tell the difference between fabric and no fabric after a year. Besides being a pain to work with. I’m up north and tons of beds or on hills. Makes the mulch like a slipping slide with rain storms. IMO you did good not using the fabric. You will never know because you didn’t use it but you just did yourself a favor not using it. Thanks for the tip with sure Guard. But dang it’s expensive as hell. Your bottle was 3 times the amount then you thought. 16 ounce is almost 200. Now knowing that price is it still worth the money? Does it stop weeds that great with the other weed killer of course ?
Good video on flower bed treatments. I use the products as mentioned with success. It would be great to have a product that prevents bermuda from rooting in the beds. For now, a carefully aimed shot of nonselective does the trick. Fusilade II does a decent job suppressing bermuda grass without harming ornamental if an over the top application is needed. The label has a long list of ornamental plants safe for use.
Moved to a place where previous owner had a business with a 1/2 + acre stone parking lot and driveway. Would a pre emergent like prodiamine work to keep the constant growth of weeds out. Tired of spraying with Roundup every 2 weeks. Roundup 365 worked in small area I tried but 6oz per 1000sq ft is very expensive.
I’m not a fan of landscape fabric. My experience was that the weeds just grew from the top down and the roots went right through the fabric making them much harder to pull and creating a big mess when the fabric came up with the roots of the weeds. I had a friend who brought me a whole dump truck full of wood chips, and I put a thick layer over my beds. That has worked well for weed suppression and you can’t tell it’s not “mulch.”
I read that ROUND UP will be gone in 2021 also. I was wondering if that was going to be ALL glyfo products in general ? I was curious if you had heard anything.
Your mulch appears to be covering some of your crawl space/foundation vents. Adequate air flow for ventilation is needed under your house and cannot be reduced unless you install a vapor barrier under your house in proportion to the amount of air space you closed off. That mulch will allow water to run through the foundation vents if placed above the bottom of the foundation vents. This may be an allusion in the video but I became concerned. Big remediation contracts have been awarded in the past due to simple landscaping missteps not tied to building construction requirements.
IMO, weed barrier fabric is overkill and a waste of time and money. Wind and birds will surely put more seed on top on the fabric and whatever material you use for bedding. The seeds will germinate and the end result is just as unsightly as with no fabric. The roots just won't be as deep. Still have to be manually or chemically removed. As you mentioned, the Pre Emergent products will greatly reduce the number if weeds. It's a never ending battle, but it keeps us employed.

I really enjoy the videos, used to watch every single one but been very busy between work and family. Keep up the good work Jason👊

I enjoy your educated videos sir
I appreciate you watching
Looks like say brook gold juniper or Daub's Frosted Juniper! thanks for you videos.
I think it's a yellow mop Cypress. Maybe a dwarf variety. I could not think of it while I was filming the video
Jason, have you ever hedged the yellow lantana before? If not it does pretty good.
I have edged it with a string trimmer
Off subject, is MSM Turf safe in a Pecan orchard?
Not sure. you would need to check the label. My guess would be no
you should think about magnolia to close to house when it matures and roots will be a big problem just something to think about down the road
It's a little gem magnolia. Only gets about 15 ft tall. I have a southern magnolia in my front yard which gets gigantic
A paint roller on a stick and your favorite chemical in a bucket helps me in the beds
Interesting strategy

It's not going anywhere just off label. Sort of how MSMA is
What product do you mix with your sugars in your flower beds?
I'm not sure I understand the question. I don't use sugars in my flower beds
Perhaps you meant sureguard. If so I mix glyphosate with it
@@lawncarelife yes! Sorry auto correct at it’s best! What glyphosate do you recommend?
I just searched for SureGuard price. Your 64oz bottle is $600. Is that a price mistake or was it $200 last time you purchased the 64oz bottle?
I didn't remember what it cost when I bought it. I guess I should have searched first. You are correct. Looks like it's quite a bit more expensive
@@lawncarelife yeah I went to look for it and a 16 once is almost 200.

Most popular preemergent might be coming off the market soon? Did i hear that right? Are you talking about prodiamine? I sure hope not!
i just bought Barricade today. Maybe I should get more?

Much better off just using mulch and no chemicals!
That sureguard sc is $600 for 64oz what in the hell?!
You pay that??
I honestly forgot what it costs when I paid. For me, it is a business expense. It is very profitable for a weed control and fertilization company
Popular non selective herbicide coming off the market soon, huh? Did I hear you right?
Yes
What is it? Roundup pro or something?
@@lawncarelife what is it? are you not allowed to say?
