Bengawan Solo itu lagu yang diterjemahkan ke banyak bahasa waktu pendudukan Jepang 1940an. Bahasa Belanda, Mandarin, Jepang, Cantonese, Tagalog, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, dan tentunya bahasa Inggris. Lagu ini dipopulerkan Jepang ketika mereka menguasai sebagian besar Asia Timur sebelum akhirnya tunduk pada Amerika setelah dibom nuklir. Lagunya terus bergulir di radio-radio lokal di daerah masing-masing.
Jangan lupa bahkan menembus beberapa bahasa Eropa. Yg pasti Belanda dan Russia juga sempat menyayikan Bengawan Solo. Di Russia dinyanyikan opera style dan hasilnya luar biasa
