Everything done with so much respect, reverence and honour. Beautiful in every aspect. Completely struck by how beautifully ethereal the combined choir sounded in Westminster Abbey.

I love the hymn that the choir sang as her late Majesty's coffin was brought in. It is very beautiful indeed, hauntingly so! 🤍👑🤍🕊🕊🕊 It's taken from the Bible, apparently written by King David. Psalm 139: 1-18, 23-24. It was set to music by Westminster Abbey Choir Master James O'Donnell.

This ceremony took place in Westminster *Hall* , part of the Palace of Westminster (where the UK Parliament meets but not often in this hall).
The Abbey is a completely separate and unrelated building and was used for the funeral service which took place several days later. There was another funeral procession to transport the coffin from one to the other: the music was provided by pipe bands and the gun carriage was dragged by a body of Royal Navy personnel on foot instead of by horses.
The choirs were Westminster Abbey and the Children of the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace.

I really took notice and paid attention when this started with the procession dirge, so appropriate. Then thrilled at the heavenly choirs' performance at Westminster House.

      Westminster Hall.
The Hall (over 900 years old) is the oldest surviving part of the Palace of Westminster which contains the chambers of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Incredibly moving and tear jerking tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. The funeral music composed by Beethoven, Mendlessohn and Chopin played by the Grenadier Guards was spine-chilling..

such an amazing, solemn occasion - the band play and everyone else maintains the constant, solid march for almost an hour. beautiful. (And all the better for having no commentary - it is often well done but frequently they just prattle on all over the occasion)

In saying "Anachronistic - feels like its 18th or 19th C... Old Fashioned" .. Paul is missing the entire point of this ceremony and those other ceremonies. 18th C isn't anachronistic in these islands, this institution is 1200 years old in both England and Scotland, there are elements of this ceremony that are over 1000 years old. What your commentator, Paul, doesn't understand is that the UK is a Kingdom, the Monarch IS the nation, without the Monarch there is no Kingdom, this isn't just a funeral for granny, it is an important part of reaffirming the succession, the constitution and the nation. The UK is not a Republic, these ceremonies are not done out of some sort of obsession with the past, they are done to reaffirm the future and the continuation of what has come before.

I happened to turn the tv on when they were doing this march to Westminster Hall. It was an amazing spectacle. How long was the walk? I couldn't believe they all kept in step the whole way and the royal family following behind I don't know how they did it. I'm 71 and I know some of them are my age and I couldn't have made it that whole way. I'm glad I was able to see it on tv live.

Commonwealth African nations and the United States are the great inheritors and benefactors of British history. For a small nation to have wielded the influence that they have to the present day is d u e n large part to the overall steadfastness of the royal families that have sent qualified men and women to the throne.
