An interesting theory that I heard from a friend THAT THIS GAME ACTUALLY SUPPORTS is that Arceus is actually way more than the creature you see. This creature is likely one of the thousand arms of Arceus. Almost a drone that Arceus can send out to interact with the world. At the end of the boss fight Arceus simply gifts you one of its arms to use. Arceus is still traveling with you but he's also everywhere else at the same time. He's incomprehensible. This form is all our brains can handle. And even just one is still among the strongest forces in the Pokemon universe.

I caught it, nicknamed it God, then gave it a mint cause it had a bad nature when I caught it and the phrase "This might affect God's stats" caught me by surprise and made me crack up.
The fact as the theme goes on, the instruments start to glitch and falling apart. It really show that you aren’t going up against any normal opponent, you are going up against a being that lies beyond comprehension.
Can we talk about how it teleports out of reality, and thus causes the music to stop for a few seconds? Cuz that's my favourite move of the fight, so suspenseful and creative for an otherworldly being!
If film and game scores taught me anything. Drum percussion-driven is for the primordial. Piano-driven is for the calculated masterminds. (Kira Yoshikage from JoJo, Master of Masters from Kingdom Hearts) Harmonica is for the comedic character/story that'll have something deep. After Ghetsis and Calyrex got close to stealing the title of master of drums, clearly Game Freak decided that it was time to state that once and for all, there was only one theme that all others borrow their drums from.
Given Ghetsis' name origin (G C#, a common tritone infamously called Diabolus In Musica or the Devil in Music), not to mention his theme has that very tritone, makes me wonder if the Arceus timpani parallels are on purpose. It's like the music saying he believes himself to be god ("I am perfection!"), but he's really the devil in human form.

The fact that THIS is his ENITRE THEME. No second round listening, HIS WHOLE THEME IS 9 MINUTES LONG ITSELF. Goes to show how well done the music is for this game.
I am so astronomically obsessed with how they redid this song. I'm so happy that for the most part, they did NOT change the fundamentals. It's just as terrifying. But the glitches and distortion of the latter half really drive home that these are such abnormal circumstances and should NOT be happening. It makes Arceus so much more of a powerful, horrifying and rad concept, and not just "deer god stuck in gate gets captured by 10 year old", its fucking incredible
Same!! So many of the remixes fill in the unnerving silence that fills the gaps behind the drums, and I was so worried they would do that here too, but they didn't and it's so good
Also awesome to see how there are two clans (and volo) who believe in different gods, then turns out they all exist, and later the player can summarize that the thing that created them is also the thing that sent them there. I think out of everything in the game, the only mentions of Arceus by anything besides itself or the Pokedex are the ursaluna notes you can find in certain locations, which really shows how special this encounter is. The cherry on top being a fragment of his power given to you, making you seem powerless compared to him in the end. Probably the best legendary encounter for me
Oh man yes, they 100% understood the brief for writing this version of the theme for this game.... this song gives me intense anxiety as it breaks down completely in my ears..... this is exactly what they needed to convey Arceus as something so powerful beyond understanding. Standing before the literal creator of the universe should quite frankly feel just as terrifying and incomprehensible as this. Man this game was a gem.
I disagree : they made it way less menacing, the drums don't hit as hard, and there's too much additionnal noise... The sped up part increases its level a bit though,but the original remains better in my opinion.
The part at 7:20 is crazy. It sounds like it’s morphed itself into a completely new theme. Also, everyone points out how Origin Dialga & Palkia’s theme is the first eurobeat track in the series, but I’ve only seen a couple people mention that this is basically the first breakcore song in the series.

He has the benevolent attitude of the New Testament, but His Noah-like trial and… ATMOSPHERE are certainly fitting for a wrathful, all-powerful being above all.
Realistically this is one of the few games where ‘gotta catch them all’ is actually possible solo, in terms of its Pokédex And I hope they do that more later on, really.
yeah, cause in other games it's not possible without trading in pokemon from other versions, which would only be possible on your own if you got both versions of a given game.
And two copies of the hardware device used to run the game too or somehow a nice hacker gives you the cheat sheet mythicals to round those ones out on the pokedex
They really went all in on the "you're not supposed to be here" aspect of Arceus's theme with that glitchiness. It really pays homage to the original Arceus event being locked behind hacks.

I was smiling ear to ear this entire fight. It was fun and something that just made me realize, I can never go back to traditional pokemon. I want all my legendary battles to be an epic real time boss fight with raid mechanic inspiration.
Same here, my only complaint was that the whole "balms" thing seemed a little bizarre. It worked for the Nobles, but every other application felt out of place.
@@5ashll303 Well, it's supposed to be a challenge. It's the final boss! If you still haven't beaten it try to figure out it's attack patterns so you know when to dodge its attacks. It took me a few tries and when I won, I barely won, but I got it. Hang in there you can beat it! Plus you can continue your progress if you lose, you don't have to restart the entire battle

This. Everything about this fight was perfect The Heartgold/Soulsilver arena, his difficulty, the fact he can TRANSFORM INTO EVERY TYPE THERE IS, and his theme being way more menacing than before. They also finally answered us when we said that Arceus shouldn't be possible to capture by making him give a portion of him as your reward for proving your strenght. Honestly, what a great reward for completing the pokedex.
I like that Arceus gives you a copy of himself instead of letting himself be caught. Like, you already needed a special ball to catch Dialga/Palkia and Arceus is literally the God of Pokemon. Would be weird if a kid could carry his original self around.
Normally I’d be willing to open myself up to a different viewpoint like that but arceus literally said you’d meet him if you competed the pokedex. This is definitely the man himself.

Everything about this encounter is so INTENTIONAL. The music isn’t something new, it’s a terrifying remix of the old track that breaks down the more you get into the fight, and REALLY ramps up the tension at the same time. The Arena being very obviously a reference to the Sinjoh Ruins, solidifying that the symbol is very much a significant element of Arceus’ lore and not just some symbol made up to get the point across in HG/SS. The fact that it’s pretty difficult for once, and actually puts into perspective the difficulty curve that a Pokemon game can achieve. The fact that he gives you “a piece” of himself, which kind of fixes the whole “lol a ten year old enslaved god lol” meme that has been around for a while. There’s so much to love about this final encounter here. What a lovely game to refresh our vigour for the franchise.
yeah and the "piece of Arceus" may play into the theory that "Arceus has 1000 Arms" I like to think of it like the aliens in the iconic Jodie Foster film Contact - Towards the end, Jodie' character arrives on the alien planet, and one of them greets her - disguised as her deceased father so she can "comprehend his form" - Maybe Arceus is a little bit like that, and what we think of as "Arceus" is actually just how he displays instances of his thousand arms to us.

Probably my favorite part about this fight is that arceus references every noble Pokémon fight before it, starting of with liligent with the ground blasts and electrode’s timed detonation attacks, following up is avalug’s semi homing shot, after that a unique attack somewhat resembling a reverse version of electrodes self-destruct or maybe primal dialga/palkia (I wasn’t paying nearly enough attention to how the attacks looked during that fight), then kleavor,s dash is used, and lastly arcanine’s interruptible charge attack. All together this is a great way of solidifying that the nobles all have an extension of arceus’s power.
The dark portal dash and attacks that deal with blue and pink orbs that need to be neutralized all reference the signature moves of Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia, actually. Arceus also uses a move similar to Dialga and Palkia that not very many might see- if you stray too far away from Arceus, it teleports up to you in a flash and unleashes a close-ranged blast of energy from around its body that you have very little time to react to.
It’s nice to be able to hear this theme without frantically dodging laser beams from a llama stuck in a fence. This game is honestly what Arceus deserved after never getting his original event. The fact you get the Azure Flute and there’s a reference to the Sinjoh Ruins event makes it fantastic!
And we even get to go full circle with all this. When you've finished this battle, the Azure Flute will appear in your room in BDSP, with which you can finally legitimately do the original event.
Well, Arceus was supposed to get its own event, but GameFreak tried to pull it back after realising Arceus could be too powerful for the Online Metagame. The Destroyed Tower that once hosted the Sinnoh Online Tournaments, and the underground ruins of the old Uber Tier's holding cells, both once laced by the seas of fire and destruction, tell of Arceus's once unfathomable power.

I can only imagine how damaging Arceus could be to the online metagame at the time. Iirc, Arceus could learn just about any move that was available via TM/HM, if not all of them, and it definitely had rather high stats for the time iirc. Also, never heard of Destroyed Tower before! I feel like I'm not linguistically talented enough to explain why Arceus' sort of archetype as a character in this kind of game specifically is really satisfying to me, but I'm glad we finally got to explore him just a little. If nothing else this game definently opened the door for the theory community to run wild trying to figure out his true nature and his motives for transporting the player to when and where he did, and what those motives mean for him. After so many years we finally got the Arceus content he truly deserved and it's glorious.
After so long, each member of the creation quartet has a game of their own, and they went all out for Arceus as a character like you said, this game completed my childhood (started with platinum, was frustrated by the lack of Arceus)
To put it simply- It’s a trial. You’re, seemingly at random, picked, from some unspecified time period where touch-screen smartphones are a thing (this could be at ANY point in time where those are a thing), and sent to a specific era in time and specific region in space- all to prove to the creator and origin of all things that His creation is capable of great things, no matter the circumstances. His trial, at least for now; “Seek out all Pokémon”.

One thing I’ve always loved about Pokémon is how weird and mysterious the lore is. Like half the time with Pokémon like Arceus, we know the bare minimum about it and I find that so cool. Sinnoh as a region really did the “minimal lore” thing well and Legends did it even more justice
We learned 1 thing about Arceus, what we see in PL:A, that isn’t even all of Arceus. That’s a fragment of him, meaning he’s way bigger than we can comprehend
Arceus is really creepy when you think about it, he's god, but all we know about him is literally NOTHING, we don't know what he truly does, what he truly feels, what he truly wants, what he's expecting of all of his creations, it's kinda terrifying; he's your father, but literally he could kill you in an instant if he wants, yet he doesn't do anything to punish you properly even when you're clearly not supposed to be fighting him in the first place.
this is probably the goal of the developers, to make arceus the kind of ambiguous god to the world but will do something if he notices something abnormal as it transports a boy from a world where it seems there was no pokemon to the past to solve the problems that are currently happening
Beta Arceus is likely what’s closest to his true form, a cloud of gas made of star stuff and whatever else that Arceus was made of. His physical form must be what everyone commonly knows.
That’s also my theory. Some people I know think it looks derpy, but when I look at it, I *know* I am staring at God’s true, incomprehensible, glorious form.
I saw this series of fanart by someone who drew the different "plate forms" of beta arceus as different ways that the form manifests, like water plate is a mass of water and bug plate is a swarm of bugs. thats my headcanon tbh
A little thing I really appreciated is when you do beat Arceus and acquire him, you don't actually get the full package -- you get a "piece" of him. The little nuance of not being able to command God as just another Pokemon and being only worthy enough to get a small shard of him I think for me, really brought home on just how powerful of a being Arceus is.

As someone who experienced this part blindly, I was so hyped for it, it’s the highest reward for skill in the game. Arceus is a true final boss, making you test your skill in dodging and also throws while also having you test out your Pokémon team and see if you can even damage it. That is to say, it’s nice to hear this song without me screaming in terror from fighting Arceus.

Yeah i went into arceaus blond to with only minmal knoledge on gen 5 but let me tell you one thing i knew was the arceaus event and the second i herd this and saw the arena my mind imdetly webt back to that power point slideshow.

*I love the glitchy effect of this song. it gives off the vibe that, the place you are in, where Arceus stands, isn’t a place your supposed to be in. You can’t comprehend him because he has no true physical form.* *I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pokémon pull that off since Giratina’s theme with the entire glitchy theme and, in a way, it MAKES ME GENUINELY NERVOUS, in a good way of course. (That breakcore type part goes hard though)* *Arceus is terrifying to think about if I’m being honest. This guy can do anything, he ISN’T EVEN TRULY CAUGHT. He just gives you a piece of himself and I love that.*
This theme represents Arceus very well, the exclusive use of the percussion (which is the oldest instrument to be invented), makes the theme sound ancient, divine and archaic in a way that symbolizes Arceus’s background and his origin.
5:55 and 6:40 sound like the morphed cries of dialga and palkia. Like they’re freaking out about the pressure arceus is putting on the world, collapsing space, time, and the universe as a whole
Im so happy with the post game Arceus fight, im not joking when I said I wished something exactly like this, where he could swap types on the fly, & was built to kick your ass, but when you beat him, he gave you a fraction of his strength, an explanation that makes sense in lore, & for why Arceus isnt omega god top tier, though with this game.. I believe that will change

The one about the Powers of the Plates is particularly interesting to me. It feels like that implies that the Types, and possibly all the powers and moves Pokémon have, were created by /, are controlled by the plates for each type
The lack of Giratina never sits well with me. It's _three_ that make matter, and three that make spirit, shaping the world... and defining what it isn't.
@@normanclatcher Legends demonstrates that most people actively tried to forget about Giratina after Arceus banished it. This is also significant in Platinum; Cyrus couldn’t anticipate Giratina intervening because there wasn’t any remaining evidence of its existence.
@@tyraydew5668 A few of the plates in Legends actually reference Giratina, albeit subtly. Some of the plates reference a “third one” and to paraphrase one of the plates: “The other side of the world (the Distortion World) was bestowed by the Original One (Arceus) to its raging child (Giratina).”
Dude, that fight was horrifying. He literally gave me heart attacks with his weird teleporting technic. And hearing his original beat/theme with some sick other sounds, getting faster and more creepier was the worst. I really enjoyed this fight. I think we need more fights like this in future games. Even thought it really creeped me out.
This fight was super fun, it was hard but didnt really seem unfair, once you learned what the attacks do it was a simple matter of patience and I loved every minute of it
I'd argue the attack where he warps close to you and does a point blank explosion is a bit unfair. Even beyond the first time when you know to look out for it, the dodge timing seems to be very short and it got me several times even when I saw it coming.
Just did this boss fight today. One of the best Legendary Battles in the franchise. And the whole "Switching to different elements during battle" mechanic really caught me off guard! It was just......this game is an absolute treasure.
My heart skipped a beat as soon as he switched types mid battle holy shit my poor infernape got destroyed Also wow was this battle so much fun, not only did his attacks have noticeable patterns but you still had to be very quick on your feet to dodge them in time, I beat him on my 2nd attempt and man did that feel good

My God when the music starts glitching and distorting around 5:20, that honestly sent chills down my spine. This is honestly one of the creepiest pokemon themes and one of the most menacing too
I love how the battle itself is less pokemon and more like a kingdom hearts battle, like maybe an action RPG isn't a bad direction for a pokemon spin-off.

First minutes: Wow, this is cool! I love how they keep the pacing of the original! Halfway through: It goes progressively faster, like Train Rush in A Hat in Time. I like that Final parts: THE INSTRUMENTS COULDN'T GRASP THE TRUE FORM OF ARCEUS POWER. HOLY FUCKING SHIT Considering the painting in BDSP in the church and the fact that the forms of Dialga and Palkia resemble more closely Arceus actual form, I think it's kinda good to not to know about how it is after I've heard all this because the only idea I can get is that Arceus has to be TERRIFYING
The second half of the song really gives off a "This shouldn't be happening" vibe. Like, you're starting to see the true face of God and reality is glitching and folding in on itself
This felt like the REAL final boss of the pokemon journey. And I said THE. I mean that this guy is probably conscious of our dimension jumping shenanigans, playing as tons of different protagonists, which is why he brought us here to deal with the raging nobles. This feels like after the endless expansion of our pokemon journeys, we've reached something unintended to be reached. The strongest. The true end.
This was honestly my favorite theme to hear in Legends. I remember telling my fiance about Arceus' theme from the mainline games and how it was just eldritch like drumming. They kept it super simplistic, but added just enough to it that it made you TRULY feel like you were in the face of God.
I absolutely love that this is basically one of thousand arms Arceus has, the only Form our Brain can handle which is basically a Lama stuck in a Fence, but it is the strongest Creature in the Pokemon Universe, this small part of him is even so strong that his Theme itself is falling apart over the Time.
This theme is like people's slow descent into madness in one. People have pondered the question for years: Who is Arceus? It has taken millenniums to even comprehend this god.
@@awesomeperson5150 I mean, have you ever guessed the age of somebody just by looking at them? At best you get a margin of 2-3 years of error. People sometimes tell me I look like I'm in my twenties (Thanks but I'm in my THIRTIES actually). It's clearly inconsequential, but the age of the protagonist is on that area of 12-15. Ultimately it really doesn't matter.
It's kind of scary that we go through this insane battle after catching every single Pokémon in Hisui, fighting for our lives to catch one single Pokémon, just for him to tell us that we basically just faced 1/64th of him and he'll lend us that fraction of his power as a "you did it" trophy. Arceus is one of the strongest Pokémon to ever exist, and the Pokémon we perceive is a tiny fraction of what he's actual capable of.
You know, after thinking about it. Making a new more epic battle style for facing the God pokemon just fits better than how the rest of the series would've dealt with this. It shouldn't be just be a master ball away from getting this guy on your team. (I haven't played this game yet, I am guessing from the footage) you should really prove yourself to get this guy and fight with all you got if you really want Arceus on your side. I am just saying this battle really suits a fight against a GODLIKE pokemon like Arceus.
i do hope there isn't a master ball available by the time this fight rolls around. honestly i always felt like legendary battles ... well, the box legendaries at least, should always have a phase where you have to fight them first before you're allowed to use the master ball. don't get me wrong i'm glad it exists, but using it on a being that is so intrinsically tied to the game's plot feels wrong from a thematic standpoint. luckily for me i suppose, that i tend to use it on roaming legendaries if applicable.
Oh it gets better. You don't even really defeat God so much as you fight back valiantly enough that you impress him and he decides to lend you a portion of his power, which is another Arceus. This means not only do you not even catch God; you don't even really get him instead getting a weaker clone of him
This form we see of Arceus is likely just one of its thousands of arms or a fraction of its power given a shape comprehensible enough for our human brains to understand. Arceus says at the end of this battle “I bestow to you a part of me…” implying what we know as Arceus isn’t even its full form and it’s full form is incomprehensible; likely to drive a human or mortal insane or to fear.
Just fought (and eventually beat) Arceus last night and when the music started kicking into high gear I got tense as hell. At one point (just after blacking out yet again) I noticed that my heart was racing. That's some effective percussion there. I had to take a break for a few minutes before going back in for more tries. Fantastic final boss.
The moment that the camera turned and arceus appeared behind me was something that I won't forget. This game was the 2nd best pokemon game I have played after omega ruby.
The coldness of the theme conveys that this is simply a trial to him. Starting of normal like a regular tuesday, but as you put up a fight, it becomes more manic as he realizes he has to try until the theme starts to meltdown as he's all but not holding back.
I'm now, after the ending of this game, thoroughly convinced that the main reason the Arceus Event wasn't enabled back in the day is the simple fact that Gamefreak struggled to reason the idea that a 10 year old would catch God. They may have realised afterwards and thought "you know, that's kinda weird". They didn't even mean it to not offend religious people or anything - they simply thought it's absurd this kid could capture the creator god of the game franchise.
To say I was very impressed by this boss fight would be an understatement. Pretty tough but also beatable with careful planning. Loved its ability as well, it just fits arceus perfectly. Music was what really surprised me though, I thought the original was pretty much untouchable given how iconic it is but nope they managed to improve upon it. Definitely one of my favorite pokemon boss fights.

You know what this remix gives me the impression of? A chant. With Arceus's theme, there's usually not all THAT much happening, it's mainly focused on that booming, intimidating drum beat. But here, as the song goes on, it slowly gets more and more chaotic, distorted, *not right,* like each loop gives Arceus more power to the point of reality not being able to handle it.
literally. idk how they'll top this in terms of gameplay. sure, story or writing wise, some battles may be a smidge above this.. but the gameplay and mechanics of this just blow it out of the park.
I now have a theory that the player, after doing this fight, took note of the design of Arceus’ domain, and later travelled and helped build the Sinnoh Ruins, perhaps imbuing it with Arceus power (because Arceus was still with them) which prepared for the Arceus event in HGSS.
Arceus really was like, "So I looked through your phone, and I learned what Breakcore was, check this out"

An interesting theory that I heard from a friend THAT THIS GAME ACTUALLY SUPPORTS is that Arceus is actually way more than the creature you see. This creature is likely one of the thousand arms of Arceus. Almost a drone that Arceus can send out to interact with the world. At the end of the boss fight Arceus simply gifts you one of its arms to use. Arceus is still traveling with you but he's also everywhere else at the same time. He's incomprehensible. This form is all our brains can handle. And even just one is still among the strongest forces in the Pokemon universe.
I also like to think that what we see is just Arceus’ avatar.

After Ghetsis and Calyrex got close to stealing the title of master of drums, clearly Game Freak decided that it was time to state that once and for all, there was only one theme that all others borrow their drums from.
Given Ghetsis' name origin (G C#, a common tritone infamously called Diabolus In Musica or the Devil in Music), not to mention his theme has that very tritone, makes me wonder if the Arceus timpani parallels are on purpose.
It's like the music saying he believes himself to be god ("I am perfection!"), but he's really the devil in human form.

I am so astronomically obsessed with how they redid this song. I'm so happy that for the most part, they did NOT change the fundamentals. It's just as terrifying. But the glitches and distortion of the latter half really drive home that these are such abnormal circumstances and should NOT be happening. It makes Arceus so much more of a powerful, horrifying and rad concept, and not just "deer god stuck in gate gets captured by 10 year old", its fucking incredible

Also awesome to see how there are two clans (and volo) who believe in different gods, then turns out they all exist, and later the player can summarize that the thing that created them is also the thing that sent them there. I think out of everything in the game, the only mentions of Arceus by anything besides itself or the Pokedex are the ursaluna notes you can find in certain locations, which really shows how special this encounter is. The cherry on top being a fragment of his power given to you, making you seem powerless compared to him in the end. Probably the best legendary encounter for me

Oh man yes, they 100% understood the brief for writing this version of the theme for this game.... this song gives me intense anxiety as it breaks down completely in my ears..... this is exactly what they needed to convey Arceus as something so powerful beyond understanding. Standing before the literal creator of the universe should quite frankly feel just as terrifying and incomprehensible as this. Man this game was a gem.
I disagree : they made it way less menacing, the drums don't hit as hard, and there's too much additionnal noise... The sped up part increases its level a bit though,but the original remains better in my opinion.

Realistically this is one of the few games where ‘gotta catch them all’ is actually possible solo, in terms of its Pokédex

I was smiling ear to ear this entire fight. It was fun and something that just made me realize, I can never go back to traditional pokemon. I want all my legendary battles to be an epic real time boss fight with raid mechanic inspiration.

@@5ashll303 Well, it's supposed to be a challenge. It's the final boss! If you still haven't beaten it try to figure out it's attack patterns so you know when to dodge its attacks. It took me a few tries and when I won, I barely won, but I got it. Hang in there you can beat it! Plus you can continue your progress if you lose, you don't have to restart the entire battle

This. Everything about this fight was perfect
The Heartgold/Soulsilver arena, his difficulty, the fact he can TRANSFORM INTO EVERY TYPE THERE IS, and his theme being way more menacing than before.
They also finally answered us when we said that Arceus shouldn't be possible to capture by making him give a portion of him as your reward for proving your strenght.
Honestly, what a great reward for completing the pokedex.
He only ever became grass type for me. I had samurott out, he turned into grass to take out samurott, then i sent out Typhlosion and smacked him

I love this theme. And as it goes on, the music gets glitchier and more chaotic. "BE NOT AFRAID, MY CHILD."
Everything about this encounter is so INTENTIONAL. The music isn’t something new, it’s a terrifying remix of the old track that breaks down the more you get into the fight, and REALLY ramps up the tension at the same time.
The Arena being very obviously a reference to the Sinjoh Ruins, solidifying that the symbol is very much a significant element of Arceus’ lore and not just some symbol made up to get the point across in HG/SS.
The fact that it’s pretty difficult for once, and actually puts into perspective the difficulty curve that a Pokemon game can achieve.
The fact that he gives you “a piece” of himself, which kind of fixes the whole “lol a ten year old enslaved god lol” meme that has been around for a while.
There’s so much to love about this final encounter here. What a lovely game to refresh our vigour for the franchise.

I like to think of it like the aliens in the iconic Jodie Foster film Contact - Towards the end, Jodie' character arrives on the alien planet, and one of them greets her - disguised as her deceased father so she can "comprehend his form" - Maybe Arceus is a little bit like that, and what we think of as "Arceus" is actually just how he displays instances of his thousand arms to us.

Probably my favorite part about this fight is that arceus references every noble Pokémon fight before it, starting of with liligent with the ground blasts and electrode’s timed detonation attacks, following up is avalug’s semi homing shot, after that a unique attack somewhat resembling a reverse version of electrodes self-destruct or maybe primal dialga/palkia (I wasn’t paying nearly enough attention to how the attacks looked during that fight), then kleavor,s dash is used, and lastly arcanine’s interruptible charge attack.
All together this is a great way of solidifying that the nobles all have an extension of arceus’s power.
Also the meteors (kinda) reference Origin Dialga/Palkia

The dark portal dash and attacks that deal with blue and pink orbs that need to be neutralized all reference the signature moves of Giratina, Dialga, and Palkia, actually. Arceus also uses a move similar to Dialga and Palkia that not very many might see- if you stray too far away from Arceus, it teleports up to you in a flash and unleashes a close-ranged blast of energy from around its body that you have very little time to react to.

This game is honestly what Arceus deserved after never getting his original event. The fact you get the Azure Flute and there’s a reference to the Sinjoh Ruins event makes it fantastic!
And we even get to go full circle with all this. When you've finished this battle, the Azure Flute will appear in your room in BDSP, with which you can finally legitimately do the original event.

Well, Arceus was supposed to get its own event, but GameFreak tried to pull it back after realising Arceus could be too powerful for the Online Metagame.
The Destroyed Tower that once hosted the Sinnoh Online Tournaments, and the underground ruins of the old Uber Tier's holding cells, both once laced by the seas of fire and destruction, tell of Arceus's once unfathomable power.

I feel like I'm not linguistically talented enough to explain why Arceus' sort of archetype as a character in this kind of game specifically is really satisfying to me, but I'm glad we finally got to explore him just a little. If nothing else this game definently opened the door for the theory community to run wild trying to figure out his true nature and his motives for transporting the player to when and where he did, and what those motives mean for him. After so many years we finally got the Arceus content he truly deserved and it's glorious.
After so long, each member of the creation quartet has a game of their own, and they went all out for Arceus as a character like you said, this game completed my childhood (started with platinum, was frustrated by the lack of Arceus)
To put it simply-
It’s a trial.
You’re, seemingly at random, picked, from some unspecified time period where touch-screen smartphones are a thing (this could be at ANY point in time where those are a thing), and sent to a specific era in time and specific region in space- all to prove to the creator and origin of all things that His creation is capable of great things, no matter the circumstances.
His trial, at least for now; “Seek out all Pokémon”.

One thing I’ve always loved about Pokémon is how weird and mysterious the lore is. Like half the time with Pokémon like Arceus, we know the bare minimum about it and I find that so cool. Sinnoh as a region really did the “minimal lore” thing well and Legends did it even more justice

Arceus is really creepy when you think about it, he's god, but all we know about him is literally NOTHING, we don't know what he truly does, what he truly feels, what he truly wants, what he's expecting of all of his creations, it's kinda terrifying; he's your father, but literally he could kill you in an instant if he wants, yet he doesn't do anything to punish you properly even when you're clearly not supposed to be fighting him in the first place.
this is probably the goal of the developers, to make arceus the kind of ambiguous god to the world but will do something if he notices something abnormal as it transports a boy from a world where it seems there was no pokemon to the past to solve the problems that are currently happening

I saw this series of fanart by someone who drew the different "plate forms" of beta arceus as different ways that the form manifests, like water plate is a mass of water and bug plate is a swarm of bugs. thats my headcanon tbh
A little thing I really appreciated is when you do beat Arceus and acquire him, you don't actually get the full package -- you get a "piece" of him. The little nuance of not being able to command God as just another Pokemon and being only worthy enough to get a small shard of him I think for me, really brought home on just how powerful of a being Arceus is.

As someone who experienced this part blindly, I was so hyped for it, it’s the highest reward for skill in the game. Arceus is a true final boss, making you test your skill in dodging and also throws while also having you test out your Pokémon team and see if you can even damage it.
That is to say, it’s nice to hear this song without me screaming in terror from fighting Arceus.

Yeah i went into arceaus blond to with only minmal knoledge on gen 5 but let me tell you one thing i knew was the arceaus event and the second i herd this and saw the arena my mind imdetly webt back to that power point slideshow.

This theme represents Arceus very well, the exclusive use of the percussion (which is the oldest instrument to be invented), makes the theme sound ancient, divine and archaic in a way that symbolizes Arceus’s background and his origin.
5:55 and 6:40 sound like the morphed cries of dialga and palkia. Like they’re freaking out about the pressure arceus is putting on the world, collapsing space, time, and the universe as a whole

Im so happy with the post game Arceus fight, im not joking when I said I wished something exactly like this, where he could swap types on the fly, & was built to kick your ass, but when you beat him, he gave you a fraction of his strength, an explanation that makes sense in lore, & for why Arceus isnt omega god top tier, though with this game.. I believe that will change

Dude, that fight was horrifying. He literally gave me heart attacks with his weird teleporting technic. And hearing his original beat/theme with some sick other sounds, getting faster and more creepier was the worst.
I really enjoyed this fight. I think we need more fights like this in future games. Even thought it really creeped me out.
This fight was super fun, it was hard but didnt really seem unfair, once you learned what the attacks do it was a simple matter of patience and I loved every minute of it

I'd argue the attack where he warps close to you and does a point blank explosion is a bit unfair. Even beyond the first time when you know to look out for it, the dodge timing seems to be very short and it got me several times even when I saw it coming.
Just did this boss fight today. One of the best Legendary Battles in the franchise. And the whole "Switching to different elements during battle" mechanic really caught me off guard! It was just......this game is an absolute treasure.

Also wow was this battle so much fun, not only did his attacks have noticeable patterns but you still had to be very quick on your feet to dodge them in time, I beat him on my 2nd attempt and man did that feel good

I love how the battle itself is less pokemon and more like a kingdom hearts battle, like maybe an action RPG isn't a bad direction for a pokemon spin-off.

Considering the painting in BDSP in the church and the fact that the forms of Dialga and Palkia resemble more closely Arceus actual form, I think it's kinda good to not to know about how it is after I've heard all this because the only idea I can get is that Arceus has to be TERRIFYING
The second half of the song really gives off a "This shouldn't be happening" vibe. Like, you're starting to see the true face of God and reality is glitching and folding in on itself
This felt like the REAL final boss of the pokemon journey. And I said THE. I mean that this guy is probably conscious of our dimension jumping shenanigans, playing as tons of different protagonists, which is why he brought us here to deal with the raging nobles. This feels like after the endless expansion of our pokemon journeys, we've reached something unintended to be reached. The strongest. The true end.

This was honestly my favorite theme to hear in Legends. I remember telling my fiance about Arceus' theme from the mainline games and how it was just eldritch like drumming. They kept it super simplistic, but added just enough to it that it made you TRULY feel like you were in the face of God.

I absolutely love that this is basically one of thousand arms Arceus has, the only Form our Brain can handle which is basically a Lama stuck in a Fence, but it is the strongest Creature in the Pokemon Universe, this small part of him is even so strong that his Theme itself is falling apart over the Time.
After Deoxys' battle theme coming back in OR/AS, hearing this come back officially is really something

@@awesomeperson5150 I mean, have you ever guessed the age of somebody just by looking at them? At best you get a margin of 2-3 years of error. People sometimes tell me I look like I'm in my twenties (Thanks but I'm in my THIRTIES actually). It's clearly inconsequential, but the age of the protagonist is on that area of 12-15. Ultimately it really doesn't matter.
I love how Arceus just appears behind you like they're the monster in a horror movie.
It's kind of scary that we go through this insane battle after catching every single Pokémon in Hisui, fighting for our lives to catch one single Pokémon, just for him to tell us that we basically just faced 1/64th of him and he'll lend us that fraction of his power as a "you did it" trophy.
Arceus is one of the strongest Pokémon to ever exist, and the Pokémon we perceive is a tiny fraction of what he's actual capable of.
After all this time. Finally, the Arceus event we craved.
Arceus: Thank you for collecting all the Pokémon. NOW YOU SHALL FACE JUDGEMENT!!!
You know, after thinking about it. Making a new more epic battle style for facing the God pokemon just fits better than how the rest of the series would've dealt with this. It shouldn't be just be a master ball away from getting this guy on your team. (I haven't played this game yet, I am guessing from the footage) you should really prove yourself to get this guy and fight with all you got if you really want Arceus on your side. I am just saying this battle really suits a fight against a GODLIKE pokemon like Arceus.
i do hope there isn't a master ball available by the time this fight rolls around. honestly i always felt like legendary battles ... well, the box legendaries at least, should always have a phase where you have to fight them first before you're allowed to use the master ball. don't get me wrong i'm glad it exists, but using it on a being that is so intrinsically tied to the game's plot feels wrong from a thematic standpoint.
luckily for me i suppose, that i tend to use it on roaming legendaries if applicable.

Oh it gets better. You don't even really defeat God so much as you fight back valiantly enough that you impress him and he decides to lend you a portion of his power, which is another Arceus.
This means not only do you not even catch God; you don't even really get him instead getting a weaker clone of him

This form we see of Arceus is likely just one of its thousands of arms or a fraction of its power given a shape comprehensible enough for our human brains to understand. Arceus says at the end of this battle “I bestow to you a part of me…” implying what we know as Arceus isn’t even its full form and it’s full form is incomprehensible; likely to drive a human or mortal insane or to fear.
No matter what version it is, this track always has that "You shouldn't be here" feel.
This sounds utterly terrifying, like Pokémon should be. I love it.
Just fought (and eventually beat) Arceus last night and when the music started kicking into high gear I got tense as hell.
At one point (just after blacking out yet again) I noticed that my heart was racing. That's some effective percussion there.
I had to take a break for a few minutes before going back in for more tries. Fantastic final boss.
When the song became ridiculously fast it caught me *very* off guard
The moment that the camera turned and arceus appeared behind me was something that I won't forget. This game was the 2nd best pokemon game I have played after omega ruby.

The coldness of the theme conveys that this is simply a trial to him. Starting of normal like a regular tuesday, but as you put up a fight, it becomes more manic as he realizes he has to try until the theme starts to meltdown as he's all but not holding back.
I'm now, after the ending of this game, thoroughly convinced that the main reason the Arceus Event wasn't enabled back in the day is the simple fact that Gamefreak struggled to reason the idea that a 10 year old would catch God. They may have realised afterwards and thought "you know, that's kinda weird". They didn't even mean it to not offend religious people or anything - they simply thought it's absurd this kid could capture the creator god of the game franchise.

To say I was very impressed by this boss fight would be an understatement. Pretty tough but also beatable with careful planning. Loved its ability as well, it just fits arceus perfectly. Music was what really surprised me though, I thought the original was pretty much untouchable given how iconic it is but nope they managed to improve upon it. Definitely one of my favorite pokemon boss fights.
Pretty enigmatic and so it’s fitting.

You know what this remix gives me the impression of? A chant. With Arceus's theme, there's usually not all THAT much happening, it's mainly focused on that booming, intimidating drum beat. But here, as the song goes on, it slowly gets more and more chaotic, distorted, *not right,* like each loop gives Arceus more power to the point of reality not being able to handle it.

literally. idk how they'll top this in terms of gameplay. sure, story or writing wise, some battles may be a smidge above this.. but the gameplay and mechanics of this just blow it out of the park.
I now have a theory that the player, after doing this fight, took note of the design of Arceus’ domain, and later travelled and helped build the Sinnoh Ruins, perhaps imbuing it with Arceus power (because Arceus was still with them) which prepared for the Arceus event in HGSS.
