  • After depressingly losing all my photos and videos of this project, I have managed to find and rescue some and made this quick slideshow before all is lost.
    I had been looking for a 107e for ages, have had side valve 100e’s in the past. I bought this ‘Barn Find’ on ebay, being covered in several years of dust. It was not going to be a restoration, just to get it going as a usable classic. I didn’t hear it running, it had seized front brakes and no clutch. Got it home, had the engine going but was running rough. Had to take gearbox out but easier to remove engine as well. As engine was out I might as well strip and clean all externals. Took sump off to paint and found broken chain tensioner spring in bottom. So went a bit further in replacing parts. Loads were de-greased and blasted back to bare metal then painted. Luckily I got the flywheel resurfaced and clutch rebuilt at work. When first restarting the engine the rad sprung some major leaks, so had to source another. Found an air leak at base of carb, turns out carb base was warped. Got it back to flat but engine wouldn’t run smooth, eventually found a new old stock carb. I changed the distributor for an electronic version and now running much better. Used a new old stock 105e exhaust. Not the best fit but it was very cheap. Had a spare set of wheels so had them blasted and any dings straightened, repainted and fitted 4 new tyres. Have left the interior as it is.
    I bought another Prefect 107E, very rotten, but ideal for spares. What I didn’t need or use, I sold on to other owners. Everything went, roof, floor sections, patch panels, dash, bulkhead, axle, suspension, steering, screens, interior, etc, so nothing wasted.
    As always teething problems, speedo broke on very first trip in it. Head gasket went within a few weeks. The fun of owning a classic car.
    Unfortunately, I now have arthritis in both knees and an injured arm with a loss of strength, so ongoing repairs and work will be slow, but hey, it’s on the road and we are still having fun in it.
    Some of you know me by the passengers in my car, namely Sherlock and Bridget bones, who somehow keep getting photographed and have appeared in papers and magazines. Children like having their photo taken with them and they always get’s a smile from the public, I tell them they are the original owners.
    Anybody that has a Ford 100e, 107e, 300e, etc if you are not allready a member then its well worth joining ‘ford100e.com’ facebook group, a great bunch of people, with lots of help and advice.

    Really enjoyed this film, and you've done a brilliant job. 55 years after my dad sold his Pop I'm beginning to appreciate just how perfect the styling of these little cars was!

      Thanks, not a show winner by any means, but it keeps in on the road. Still loads to do whenever I get time.

    Great video! Great restoration video! I just got a '57 101 a few months ago. No restoration needed. Still plenty of work to do. How do you like the 107 compared to the 3 speed flat heads?

      @MrFERENGI  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      4 speed sooooo much better, beats thrashing it in 2 then a long 3rd gear. My car is far from a restoration, just dont look too close, buts in on the rad and useable. You can get a conversion bellhousing to take the 4 speed.

      @@MrFERENGI You have to modify the body to fit the larger trans. though right?
