This was very well-done. It would be really beneficial for you to do a complete video on illnesses, symptoms and the treatments you use. You touch a lot of lives, and you make a huge difference.
Very well explained. Can please tell the wattage of light source and the medici e mixture you prepared was in excess, can it be stored in refrigerator for next day use. Thanks
This was helpful, God bless you Sir. Thanks for posting this. Currently it's been around 1+ hour under the heat source and my finch is responding well.
Good to see the bird doing better 😁. Thanks for the helpful tips. It’s right on time. One of my Gouldin’s looks like she’s not feelin so good. I wasn’t sure what to do but this helps. Any tips on specific heating lamps?
4-in-1 combination powders are commonly used for pigeons and can be bought online from any pigeon supply company. The ingredients of this one were Amprolium, which is a coccidiostat-it stops coccidia from growing and reproducing but does not kill them, giving the bird's immune system time to respond; Ronidazole, which is an anti-protozoal agent that kills trichomonas (causes canker in pigeons); Levamisole, which is a wormer that also stimulates the immune system, and Tylan, which is an antibiotic effective against gram-positive bacteria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydophila, and Pasteurella. The powder makes the drinking water bitter and unpalatable. I usually add some sugar when I'm treating pigeons with it. If I can determine more specifically what is wrong with a bird, I will use just the one ingredient needed for that problem, as these can all be bought separately, but of course that means I have more money put into my "first aid" supplies. This is cost effective when you have several hundred pigeons but probably not for a flock of tiny finches!
Dear friend the light you use to warm the birds how strong it is, in terms of wats? In the matter of accuracy in explanation you are *****. Keep doing good videos... PLEASE...
Could you please share the link where we can buy this also complete details of this medicine like manufacturer name may we can search for it Thanks in advance
Hello my friend, from which country are you? I am from Sydney. I would like to ask you what is the name of the medicine, please. A lot of my birds died. More than 20 died, including red siskins, green singers, and canaries. They had the same disease and the same symptoms in the video for your birds. Please write the name of the medicine so that I can go to the bird shops to buy a similar one. But my question is, from which country are you? Please answer, please.
my canary has a growth protruding from his breast. It is now almost touching his feet. It is tubular in shape and is impeding his feeding at his pot. He seems happy and sings whenever the clocks chime !!
Do you practice preventive medication to your aviary as well? I have scatt and a dewormer (levamisole+ivermectin) that I initially planned to give on a quarterly basis but haven’t done so yet. Still researching if this is really a good idea and not unnecessarily taxing the birds with meds.
Personally I dont like SCATT its so harsh on the birds ive seen birds that have ended up with neurological damage and have even died because some have applied this medication incorrectly. I do treat once a year after my breeding season is over with the all in one medication but thats about it
hello. at my grandparents in the backyard we found a gouldian finch. it looks a bit discolored. im going to take it to the vet. is their anything i should do before the vet ?

Wobbly Gouldian in W.A. (Australia). Hi guys. I've had finches casually for most of my life but I've not come across this. One of my Gouldians is wobbly. (I have a mixed cage of 2 Parsons, 2 Double bars, 2 Gouldians(both male I believe) and '1' zebra. (having two means soon you will have 20). So about a week ago I noticed one of my Gouldians was very wobbly on the perch but other then that has very bright eyes, non-puffy, clean vent and a good appetite. I have him/(her) in a hospital cage for about 5 days now at 28c with fresh AVICYCLINE(Tetracycline) each day, finch seed and some greens (chickweed). He hasn't improved and is still wobbly. He has always looked healthy asides from this. When feeding if he gets a scare and falls over he can take a second to right himself and jump back onto an on-ground twig stick perch of the size I use in the big cage. Possible causes: I tried cleaning re/using feed recently using the vacuum method and sieving. I have since quickly stopped as its probably not worth it and fear of causing sickness. I also treated them with a drop each about 10 days ago of AVIMEC that I've used many times in the past out of fear of air sac mites as this has lost me a finch last year so I try to be somewhat regular every few months. I'm not sure if I treated them this time because I may have noticed this finch acting a bit off. I thought might have been egg-bound in case I sexed wrong but not puffy and its been 5 days in the hospital cage. His name is actually Lazerus (sp) so I'm hopeful. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Help! The problem I'm having is my female zebra finche is in pain 😔 she's clicking and crying out constantly what kind of medicine can I give her to stop the pain? I've seen your videos on TH-cam and I like the way that you really explain things so I figure you're my best bet at this moment because I do not have the means to take this little bird to the doctor I understand they're able to take NSAIDs so I'm looking for the dosage and what type you would recommend.... I really appreciate any help that you could give
Also I could send you a picture she's all ruffled up and her beak is tucked around her back and in to her feathers I don't know how to send a picture this is my first time ever leaving a comment on TH-cam thank you again!!
Hi V.P.S i keep them under the bulb until I notice them getting better could take a week or so. Once I see the bird has tight feathers and is not fluffed up anymore I remove the bulb and continue to moniter. Hope your bird is doing better my friend
Hello, my finch is acting really weird and i think she might have fat finch disease. She constantly tries to swallow something, shakes her head and i can see her struggling with breathing and also her eyes are closed. Please tell me anything u can help me with plsplsplsplspls
I am here because I am tryying to troubleshoot a situation: I used to have two canaries. They live in separate cages, although they are placed close to one another. Many months ago, one started to lose feathers around his head. Then he would start to be "swollen", "inflated" (not sure if there is a technical way to name this) often'ish. He would start to sing less and less, and in its latter stage of life he would sleep a lot and eat a lot. There was a time where the feces would be too white, and if i recall correctly he felt bad that time, hiding in the floor of the cage and sleeping a lot. But then he improved. Then many weeks, maybe 2-4 months later, he got to that state again and this time passed away... I forgot to mention he also had some sort of blockage in one sinus and had some swelling between the other nostril and the eye. Again, I thought it would be some microorganism biting it and causing damage. I progressively give both (now not both, only the one remaining) 5x/week a pinch of diatomaceous earth, I put it on their food, and in the days where I don't do that (2x/week) I insert a drop of ACV in their water (I prefer a more natural approach over convencional medicine). Because of the feather loss, and because of my house having lots of humidity and helping the formation of mold, I figured those 2 would be good to kill mold or other microorganisms that could be damaging the dead bird when it was alive. Another thing I learned meanwhile is that canaries dont need added gravil in the food, thats just for birds like pigeons who dont remove the shell of the seeds. Could I have overdone it and made the birds congestioned with small gravel bits? Back to the story, I deinfected the bird that passed away's cage and put the remaining one there, because it's bigger, she likes to fly a lot. Now, 2 months have passed since my bird died and I notice this one turning like that too... This bird now only eats and sleeps. It used to fly a lot, now it doesn't move as much. Always "swollen", barely sings when compared to a few months ago... It sleeps waaay too much. With previous birds I had, even having them in a room where people would sleep late and wake up early wouldn't affect them that way. I also thought about EMF's, because they are usually here near internet router, not sure how big of an influence that is on them in this situation. This bird also has a tendency to poop liquid'ish feces, but that's been a staple since i have her here. Sometimes I would notice some mold forming in them, and I would clean that right away when I spot it. So, I think it's all said and done. I read some posts here and I realize I can put her to get more sunlight. She is near a window by morning, she takes some sun, but I guess direct sunlight is way better? I'm not sure whether sun obtained through a window helps enough or not. All bird keepers, what do you recommend me to do? I don't want this one to die too... Vet is too expensive for me right now, what can I do at home to help my bird? Been taking care of birds for over 10 years and this never happened...
Well first of all happy to see the bird as recovered. Thanks for tips. Yes me too. Is the powder available in amazon. Any particular brand name. Kindly advise
Poor litlle Thing. PS. I know this Video is old, but my canary *stumbles* and can't hold on to Sticks for Long anymore... It seems Like He is drunk? His motoric abilities are crippled! I was at an animal vet, they Said it's a bacterial desease that causes this. Got medicine, that was 4 days ago. But He ist STILL Out of Control of his Body! He eats very often and sleeps on the ground now to get some rest. Is This maybe also a concussion? Or worse... A Tumor? I feel so Bad cause I may have worsened His state by going to late to the vet! Little Citrus is only 3 years old!
Yo he salvado vidas solo con calor y papillas.
