Not speaking english very well, but I just love your process, and the sound of your calming voice. Very grateful to meet you in your sweet vulnerability. Thank you for sharing! ❤️🦋🌻
YES! That bothers me too. Saying "I love you" to practical strangers. NO, that's a personal thing. That's a special thing to say. You don't just say those words loosely like that. I think I have an awesome TH-cam family and they are all so very wonderful and I appreciate them greatly and really really like them. But I am not going to say "I love you!" I'm curious if I could even do this. I feel like I Would just sit there staring at a blank page. Or I would need much more than a single page. lol
I have been watching your channel for a while and have been inspired a lot by your art :) This video especially has been a huge eye opener for me! I've wanted to art journal like this, about my feelings and thoughts, for a long time. But I could not find the right way. I have tried different approaches and techniques, but they never worked quite right. I felt so unsatisfied and blocked. With this video it really clicked in my mind. Since watching it two days ago I have managed to do several pages in my journal and let out a lot from the inside. It has helped me massively and I'm sure it will help me more in the future. Thank you so much!! :)
This looks really helpful. I've tried morning pages but I like sleeping too much, so getting up earlier just isn't going to work for me. But this thing you are doing here looks like something I can get behind and try. So thank you James, for sharing this.
You sound like me . ... more an evening / night person --- so perhaps you can do " evening Pages " or " Night pages " . .... or , like me --- I do " morning pages " -- But they are done like at 2:00 --- 4:00 A.M. ;-)))
I really enjoyed this vid and admire your journaling, I am thinking of starting one myself and actually upload it. I am currently looking up other artists too- most have passed on by now - that didnt draw landscapes or portraits but images from their dreams or visions - from the subconscious. Their art is a obscure and is a riddle in itself. I love that. I really enjoy surreal art that helps you think. It is also bringing out a crazy amount of ideas for my own art, which I will be uploading at a later stage...there is so much of it all of a sudden I might have to take time off work to get it all down.
I just discovered your Amazing channel . ... as I have been drawing , lately , in a sketchbook streams of conciousness Unconciously . .. and decided to see if it was " a thing " ... and your channel came up ! Thank you so much , for being here --- " to welcome me " ;-) I Love your honesty , which will help me with mine --- as I wasn't sure I should stream my every thought ... but you have convinced me that it's ok and even a good thing .
I love how pretty the page looks in the end whilst going deep into your not so pretty feelings. My mental health has gone downhill, I feel like this could help me. Thanks for being real and for being inspiring always ❤️
I really enjoy how articulate you were able to be about this process. I found myself thinking “yeah, me too!” at a bunch of different moments. Thank goodness we have our journals to non-judgementally take on all our thoughts and reactions so we can sort through them, reflect, and grow.
Ooh, just found this! I often use art to process my thoughts. Hadn’t heard of stream of consciousness art before now. I love your openness here. Thank you for sharing this 😌💗
Whether I hate watching this or love watching this tonight has helped me James by watching you do your art and words. I'm having a very low evening and for me right now is crochet. Your videos are so inspiring and I can't say this enough how awesome you are...just watching you and hearing your thoughts have helped me some. Thank you James and another great video.
Despite being a math and computer science major, I'm very emotional and have trouble making decisions. I survived jr high, high school, college and young adulthood by using journals, occasionally sketching or doodling in there. I've read old stuff where I was angry at someone, they weren't named. I sounded really mad but no idea who it was now. I never did anything violent I guess I worked it out on paper and that was enough. I caught my husband reading it one day, and felt so betrayed and had to stop. But the urge to write spilled out to scraps of paper, and eventually computer documents buried under layers of other files where they shouldn't be. What I write changes if I think someone will read it.
What an amazing way to journal. Such beautiful work James. Thank you for sharing this. I'm feeling like it's a revelation for me seeing you journal this way. Brilliant.xx.
Thank you for sharing your process and your pages! I'm definitely inspired to try this style of journaling now and appreciate your vulnerability. I'm glad some of your symptoms have eased and hope they continue to improve!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you activate “stream of consciousness” real-time, adding to it a “look under the hood!” 😉. I haven’t been this inspired in a while...thank you for the sincerity in your approach while keeping the onlookers in high regard. You navigate this tenderly and creatively. I will definitely share this with my fam and friends...💋
Hi James. Thank you so much for this video. It’s very inspirational and also showed me that it’s ok to be vulnerable sometimes and this is a great outlet to get it down, out and dealt with. I will be totally doing this myself this evening as I too have much going on right now and feel this would be a great way to help. Thank you and hope tomorrow is better than today 💕🥰
I believe one isn't bad because of whatever thoughts they might be having - like you said, thoughts are just that, thoughts, they're gonna come and go. What matters is what you do with them and if/how you act on them. And thank you for opening up and sharing. Another lovely video.
I have just had your video suggested to me and I can’t thank you enough for making this video. It spoke to me so much. Can’t wait to watch all your other videos and enjoy your art x
James nobody in here knows anybody. Of course we, people who follow you know you, see your face, hear/see your thoughts and all I can say to know that after the first video I watched of you I liked you and as time has gone by I can tell you is that I love you! I love that you’re not only amazingly talented creative but that you’re vulnerable, blunt, you say what’s in your brain, you’re unapologetic.so, maybe for some people it’s hard to “feel” love but for some others it’s easy to feel other people’s soul in our own heart by getting to know a little piece of their souls. In other words we are all different and have different ways to open our heart and allow others, those that we trust and start liking because we see something in them that we like/love about them. Anyway as I started watching this I immediately thought I couldn’t put my thought-drawings because I just couldn’t process it. And as you kept talking about these thoughts of yours I started crying (I know, I’m artistically a mess 😂) but that’s exactly why I think it will be hard for me to try this because I do know it’s therapeutic for everybody who’s going through stuff. But it’s one thing to write a journal with your struggles and things that are hard to talk publicly about. Because you can pour your soul into the pages, close it down and come back when you’re ready to revisit that platform of therapy per say. But as a very visual person it will very hard to open that journal and at first sight see what your open wounds in color. Just by watching this and imagining on a drawing journal all of these deep un-healed wounds has me crying. In early stages of quarantine I started this “healing” journal where every time I was feeling these emotions I would just use that journal to talk about this specific subject in my heart and I would admit that it helped. But after i wrote pages and pages I never went back to read it because clearly that wound it still open. Great idea, although not sure it will be something I my heart could handle. But thank you for not only showing your art, but your heart and did I say that I love you? 😘 🤗
(finally had time to sit and finish the video) I am determined to try this out. Question though; do you lay out specific supplies or do you just use whatever is closest? Do you set yourself a specific amount of time or do you just journal however long it takes to get it all out? Thank you, x Marieke
James, this is THE most inspirational video I have watched on TH-cam in a long time! I’m totally inspired to do this. Thank you so much! And may I ask what journal you’re using? Seems like it handles many mediums beautifully.
Maybe they mean they love their support? Not like as individuals… like I love my best friend or husband. Like they Love that their viewers keep showing up and giving them encouragement in the comments and other social media? Just a thought.
I can understand that for sure. My brain processes it as "I love that you watching gives me money", or "I love that you guys enjoy me" and it's a little cynical on my part (based on some of the content creators I have watched over the years). It's a little wrapped up in my other ideas about the "character" of people's TH-cam persona, since we get to choose how we're presented. I think it's case by case obviously, but I definitely agree with this take :)
take a deep breath and relax, but China had a 7.3 EQ today. No idea you were in Japan when that happened. That would be incredibly traumatizing. I'm in CA so earthquakes are a regular thing People who aren't used to the ground moving under their feet can't imagine it. Which makes sense. I can't imagine driving in snow or ice or a blizzard. That terrifies me.
I'm in CA too, so it's been a little difficult over the past few years with the few I've felt here. I continue to work through it and I have faith my growth (slow as it might be) will continue to lead me to a better place :) Thank you for sharing :)
Don’t watch these things, listen to music instead you will end up with stuff in your head you don’t need. Your art work is lovely, get out into the countryside and have a walk instead, you need some nature to calm yourself down. X
Thank-you, James.
this is so cool. thank you of sharing!

24 hour stream of cons. Journal? Like 24 hours in a row? I’ve never heard of that but it sounds amazing!

Love it! ❤👌

Thank you Maria! :) I am using the Strathmore Mixed Media art journal, 8.5 x 11 inches. Here's a link to the exact one I bought: amzn.to/3fbvUrj
@@JamesLukeBurkeCreative thank you so much. I appreciate you taking the time to answer .
AMAZING idea!! Thank you for inspiring me. I will start to journal that way. 🙏
My very first journal was when I was getting divorced and I called it my HATE journal 🤣
May i know what kind of book are you using for this art journaling?
✨✨

Fluff and bother. Maybe a version of “stuff and nonsense”.
