Today we are in Cayo Coco, Cuba at an all inclusive resort called Melia Cayo Coco. My wife and I stayed here back it December 2023 and wanted to share some of our food experiences. This morning I wanted to share the all you can eat breakfast buffet just off the main lobby. I had an omelette with onions, ham and cheese, grabbed some bacon plus an awesome cuban coffee.

This is the best of Cuba right here. One cannot be too picky or don't go.

cuba is definitely not a destination I enjoyed one and done for me, very friendly people nice weather but boring horrible food and no flavour. Sure its cheap but so many better places to enjoy.
Ken, since I have many friends who lived in Communist countries, the reason they do not have good meats (steak, bacon, pot roast, leg of lamb, turkey even) is because EVERYTHING good goes to the government/"party" officials FIRST. "Friends of the party" next. Visitors next. Last are the people! It's a horrible system of government that keeps the poor POOR with NO opportunity for advancement; UNLESS, they can benefit the "party". Like athletes for Olympics etc.
The rich STAY rich; UNLESS, they anger someone high up in the "party." (Sidenote: you probably know all this already.)
Oh, yes, I like ham, bacon (pork), peppers, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and feta cheese in my omlet.

Why dont you move to cuba and you will see how fast you want to go back to where ever you live so fast because in cuba theres no freedom and no food no medice cuba is a falling country with communist government that only cares about tourists and their money and am cuban no one can tell me am wrong
Omelet: ham, extra cheese.
Pretty big selection that they have there. As for omelettes my go to would be chopped onions, tomatoes, mushroom (which I'd cook in some oil or butter on a different pan first and ham. Cheese if there is any.

Looks like a pretty good breakfast buffet. These kinda restaurants are almost nonexistent in the states and those that are still around are usually mediocre at best.
Like I HOP, Denny’s, etc, etc.

I have been to Cuba several times, and the real Cuba to be found is Havana and nowhere else. But you won´t get any beaches there. I was there to find fantastic cheap food and to look at those amazing colorful buildings, and the old american cars. Genuine and fantastic. I bought food from families who cooked it and served it outside of their homes. Fantastic food.

Ultimately the resorts are good just for the beach or pool time. In Cayo Coco the closest town really is called Morón and I think it is filled mostly with the resort workers and their families.
Hopefully in the future we see more of things like this for Cuba. I hate how our country treats them

I have a few favorite breakfasts:
1 - French toast w/ sides of scrambled egg & sausage
2 - Chicken fried steak w/ sides of sausage, scrambled eggs and hash browns
3 - Large (4-ish eggs) omelet w/ cheese & sausage and sides of hash browns and English muffin (grape or strawberry jelly)
And French toast/pancakes/waffles need both butter and maple syrup. No butter ruins it for me. :-)
