    The code I made: pastebin.com/e...
    Servos: amzn.to/2WIXvG6
In this video we use an Arduino, a DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor, and a standard servo to recreate the look of of an antique dial thermometer. The Arduino reads the temperature from the DHT11 and converts the integer temperature into integer angle to set the servo. Add in a long pinter and a backdrop and Boom! you have an analog-ish thermometer.

Thank you for this. I'm new to Arduino and I've had a project similar to this in mind, making a smart vent for my bedroom. This video goes a long way to getting me there. Thanks!

Awesome video Paul, I think the servo (or its input) is flipped. When you applied the hot air the servo arm rotated CCW and then returned after the hot air was removed. I think the high temp would be on the left of your analog meter with the low being vertical.

A great little DIY project for the kids to work on. Coding is so important for our society.
Showing them how to make this simple but important thermostat can be very helpful in getting them learning to code.
A safe and healthy Happy New Year to you my friend!

Cool unique project, don't think I've seen this concept before. Can always prettify but you proved it works - nice!

I've made a similar unit with a digital display as well and an DS18b20 based sensor. Came up with a few improvements that may reduce twitchy servo and only update the servo when the temperature changes, it disengages the servo (you can force the output around) but stops it from twitching with the same temp reading/servo pulse

What a fun little project idea, this is something that could be adapted to many different projects. Great video Paul, glad you had fun on Christmas and have a happy new year.

Pretty cool. I’m doing something similar except I’m working on having it control my home hvac system. Figured a nano is a lot cheaper than a 150 dollar thermostat

That's pretty nifty build, unless I'm mistaken I thought I heard audio doubling shortly after the first video overlay. But that was fun to watch

I can relate to not being artistic, but being the "make stuff work".

I must have missed something along the way. If the temp range (-20 to 120) was mapped to 0 to 180 degrees on the servo, why was 120F max temp drawn on the vertical on the dial? 73F should have put the dial indicator well past vertical. I also didn’t see the servo move when he hit the sensor with the heat gun to go from room temp to 120 degrees. I’ve only had one pint I swear😊.

Baking soda makes a great hardener. is used to fix nuts on guitars and just as hard as the old nut.
the nut on a guitar is near the top that hold strings in position

    DHT11's only go from 0 - 50°C (32 - 122 °F)
13:11 you missed an argument on the map function, you didnt put in the input variable

    • @DavidPlass
      @DavidPlass 3 ปีที่แล้ว

And unfortunately DHT11's are only accurate to +/- 2C (+/- 3.6F) which is kind of coarse.

  • @bblod4896

Cool. How long could the sensor cable be if you wanted to install the sensor outside and the computer and indicator inside?
By the way, it was raining iguanas this past weekend. The critters go dormant in the cold and fall out of the trees.
    Stay warm, I will. 🏖️
