Kawai ES110w arrived this morning, beautiful keyboard, purchased for key feel, sound and dynamics, beginner at the age of 65yrs but needed something more than doing music production on a Yamaha Motifxf6. Never too late to learn, past academic, :). I will be up every morning, learning with Joseph, keyboard set up, just switch on, no need to connect additional monitors etc. Joseph's videos are easy to follow and transfer into skills on the piano and it is fun learning.

I play on a Yamaha GB1K. Sound is gorgeous and the feel of a real acoustic piano is something that can't be expressed in words, it's something that you have to experience for yourself. I also have experience on tuning my own piano and with full equipment. With technology these days it's pretty easy, although it's time consuming.
Digital pianos have improved a lot since this video was made, I was going to by a second hand one, but people ask much to much for a piano that if was made now with the same spec it would be cheaper than they want for their old second hand one. So I got a new Yamaha CLP635, lots of models above this one but that's all I could afford, and it's fantastic. So now if I can't learn to play a piano, I can't blame the piano.

Just wanna add one more and that is transposing. Digital piano, You can transpose and sheet or chord if you need it to be lower or higher key. It seems like small stuff but if you always accompaniying people singing its a good thing to have.

this "ramble" of yours is informative and appreciated. I DID just recently purchase a Yahama P125 with their stand and pedal accessories. My only criticism of it is slippery keys. But you have encouraged me to return to the piano and I enjoy your lessons on youtube. My question is, can these vids be enough or should I look into an actual course, for instance, yours or others? What do you think about the yamaha U3 Silent acoustic pianos? You can plug in headphones nights when you don't want do disturb anyone and still play on day time acoustic
My parents bought me my first piano, a Knight upright, 52 years ago. I had lessons and I got to a certain level, though couldn't seem to get beyond that, I wasn't very good at the practising because we only had one room and the piano always had to compete with the tv and other people. To cut a long story short, it is only now that I have the time to really get stuck in and learn piano properly. I love my Knight piano but my OH keeps on at me to swap it for a digital and so this video was very useful. I'm on the fence - but a digital piano really has advantages such as not annoying neighbours (although they have never complained), easier to move etc. but I think it's the compromise on touch and sound quality that puts me off. A lot to think about but if I take the plunge I would definitely go for a high end one. I am really enthused by this guy, I actually look forward to practising every day, even scales.
You really do answer all those crazy questions that, well, drive you crazy! I live in the U.S. & my mother polish my piano so much my sheet music & HER Hummels never stayed put!! I guess its a universal thing back then? All kidding aside, keep up your great work, its encouraging!!✌🎼

If you are learning piano, the acoustic is the way to go. The digital has a completely different action and feeel. I am a working pianist and I do play both. For beginners,,, I would encourage you to if you can find someone if you don’t have an acoustic piano and practice on that. You can play the digital but you need to bee able to have control and experience the touch of the acoustic. The digital is a completely different beast and won’t feel exactly like an acoustic piano. They do come close but you got to note that a digital is a digital and a acoustic piano is an acoustic. You need to bee able to get your skill and technique and skill down first before playing on a digital because the digital is a totally different beast. If you play on a digital and you don’t know piano then when it comes time for concert recycles you are going to play badly because the technique is not their. A digital is good for people who already play piano. And especially if yo are going to teach yourself. Yes their is software but still the digital piano is not for people who don’t know how to play.... you got to bee able to concentrate on your technique, and you need to bee able to feel the action and get control of the dynamics. When you move to a digital you are going to find that it is completely different and it doesn’t play the same. Believe it it or not. A digital piano is a completely different beast and you have to multitask. I can do this off course because I have been doing it all my life and I do play both. When I started,,, I never started on a digital. I always played acoustic first. Then when I had started on getting the understanding on the piano and it was making sense I was introduced to the piano. But I didn’t start on a digital at all. I started the correct way. Learning how to gain control, and expressing on an acoustic. Plus,,, when you go for recidles you are not going to bee playing on a digital. Concert halls or recidle halls have usually baby grands or upwrites. Or other type of acoustic. A digital piano is good for those who already play and have knowledge of the piano. Not so fast. It is good you want to learn but you got to go from the ground up. Otherwise, the digital is not going to make any sense to you.
I started with a CASIO 551, year 2005, bought used on eBay for 38 euros (£ 32) + a new adapter. 61 keys with touch response. It works like a new one. Good enough to start without breaking the bank.

My teacher told me don’t get an electric cause it’s never the same feel and sound as an acoustic. I only played the acoustic but I fell in love with it. It’s organic and the sound can never be matched.

Joseph, you are great with advice.
If you buy used digital, the progress over the last decades has been enormous. One big difference is synthesized voices versus sampled voices.
I have 3 digital pianos, all bought in 2019, one new (Williams Allegro III, sampled), and 2 I bought cheap, used from craigslist (Kawai MP8II - sampled, and I think some voices synthesized; Yamaha CLP-100, very few voices synthesized. The #1 CLP piano voice has steel drum and organ tones in it, quite cool with my phones on, but no CLP voice is legit piano, since it's synthesized.)
I am rebuilding the two used ones, learning a ton.
The speakers in slab pianos (what I have) are pretty bad - just a fact of life. I hear 2x more thru my headphones.
Get good headphone monitors for digital, which is where I spend 80% of my time.
Get good studio monitor powered speakers.
I take lessons on an early 1980s Steinway D, and it takes time each lesson to acclimate to the "real key" action of the acoustic.
You can be a little lazier on a digital; an acoustic is more demanding for achieving dynamics.
There are tons of good videos on TH-cam about the many, many things to check for if you go used acoustic.
The risk of buying a used acoustic was to big for me - I would just go to a dealer to buy a used one, then trade up with the dealer for new or better used one, later on.
My 2cents, that's all.
Awesome. I simply use quantum leap pianos as a vst and my fantom x8 to control it. Recently bought a M-Audio hammer 88 so gonna test that out and maybe put a review out.

My thoughts: buy a weighted-key board for the FEEL... one that has MIDI out, at least. Like a Yamaha P35 (the last digital piano they made that has MIDI ports), Korg SP170s, or best yet... a Casio Privia PX-5s (killer sounds and board for the money). Because once you get decent enough (and/or if you are into home recording)... you'll want better/more realistic sounds. Have a decent computer, and get EZKeys, Spectrasonics' Keyscape, Komplete or Addictive Keys. Tremendous sound quality with all (probably the best with Keyscape). The whole setup is more affordable than most hammer-action hardware boards... a Yamaha P35 used is about $350, and those plugins range from $150 to $500-ish. The whole thing is less than $1000, and you have some amazing-sounding, inspiring pianos. No tuning needed. Silent practice. Perfect sounds.
Nice channel chris! and thanks for the support. Great idea for a setup aswell. In fact you just reminded me that midi is being phased out. I, fortunately, have midi on my fantom, but its being replaced by usb on most boards now which presents a host of driver complications. At least it did for me. When it works its great, but them macos gets an update and your screwed :(. Ah well.
chriscauldermusic Exactly! VST controlled samples can recreate the experience close enough and you’ll save a boat load of cash using that approach. Oh and don’t forget you need a decent computer and AMP, so let’s say it is less than $2000... However, the P35 isn’t really a good feeling keyboard, I would go Casio PX-160 for that experience that is closer to the real thing.

I'd love to have an acoustic piano, but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to get it inside my livingroom. I'm a little worried that if I buy a digital it simply wouldn't give like the same almost magical atmosphere that acoustic ones do. But if I want to play, I guess that it's a lot better than nothing. I've considered buying the Yamaha CLP-645 - does anyone know if that's a good or bad digital piano?
I once had a piano teacher who gave lessons on a Bosendorfer grand piano in her living room... It was a long time ago but I still miss playing it. Unfortunately I have to practice at weird hours so I have a Casio digital piano for the headphone capability. The action is lighter than I would like, but it is nice and more importantly I could afford it. Not having to remember to have it tuned is another plus if you're a busy adult with limited funds.

@@falcxn8824 I’m such a beginner n unfortunately I never touched an acoustic piano before. But a little bit i know weighted keys means they have resistance kind of feel, like a seesaw. If that’s the case, yes the P45 has it.
Yamaha loaded sound of her greatest and most expensive piano into model P-115 and more,but Roland loaded sound of Stainway into FP-30 and more...Easy decission for me..Thank you for great video as usuall !!

You should have mentioned Yamaha and Kawai both have several models of full acoustic pianos that have silent pedals that you lock in place and then plug your headphones into to play in silence with voice and volume controls just like a digital! These have been around for 10 years and beginner's should be made aware of this incredible alternative.
Yes, could have done and perhaps should have mentioned it. But my focus on this video was to reduce the barrier of entry and potential excuses not to start. Those pianos tend to be quite expensive but you can get going with a practical, full sized keyboard on less than £150 if you're smart.

I have a Yamaha DGX-660 and am very happy with the sound and action. The wife and kids are even happier that it has headphone jack! I would highly recommend buying the optional 'real' sustain pedal though. It makes a huge difference
BTW Good analysis, and as you say if you don't live alone, or have close neighbours, or have a sound-proofed music room it's a no-brainer. No-one wants to listen to anyone doing their drills!

I have a Yamaha p45 with weighted keys and weighted pedal. I'm very happy with it but unfortunately the keys get clunky after a few months which is normal for a digital piano below 1000€.

My two cents worth: Between a good acoustic grand piano and a good digital hybrid piano (with grand piano action), I'll choose the grand piano everytime. Between a good upright acoustic piano and a good digital hybrid piano with grand piano action, I think I'll choose the good hybrid digital piano.
Very detailed explanation. One of the best channels I ever bumped into .Although I still need a bit more advice :p . Thing is due to low budget , I couldn't buy a full weighted keys so I purchased the Alesis Coda . Which is a semi weighted digital piano . What I wanted to know is that if I use it as a midi controller and use piano VST plugins . Would I face any limitations while recording ?... Looking forward for your reply :)
I wouldn't worry about that keyboard. Looks absolutely fine to me. I'm not sure you would face any limitations with a vst. Thats exactly how I have mine set up. only limitations would be your system spec, ram and all that nonsense. But most can handle this kind of thing now.

no thinking about it for me (neighbours) so had to be digi for me,ive been using a Yamaha 115 for about 4 or 5 months which I really liked but this week I treated myself to a early xmas present and bought a Yamaha clavinova 635 with their latest key hammer action which is really nice although the extra pressure needed is killing my fore arms at the moment and also slowing down my playing but after a few days I'm now adjusting to it,the sound is on another level compaired to the 115 especially through head phones,but price is a big factor and the 115 or ones above or below it are still really good,im keeping my 115 just incase I go anywhere as its portable which is a big plus point if you don't have much room.
Awesome Andy. I use a roland fantom x8. I've had it for years. I find the hammer action on it very good. But I do link it up to east west pianos which sounds incredible. Like you said, the sounds on your new yamaha are amazing, I fully get how it can be sooooo inspiring to play when you produce a good sound. Thats why I love east west so much. Its meticulously mic'd up and sounds like a concert hall! :)
I love you started on a 115 though. Thats the point I was trying to make. It honestly doesn't matter what digital piano you get in the beginning so long as you get started. That yamaha is a great piano to get started on!
Wait, the clavinovas feel heavier than the p115? Jesus christ, and I've been thinking the 115 was exceptionally heavy.

Hey man. I know what its like cos i'm the same. But try not to stress over it too much. Make a decision and get to whats important. Playing! That Arius looks fine and very similar to what I had for year growing up.
I have always thought digital piano was the best option for me in the scenario of the sounds. It's probably because my playing is still a lot messy with the playing on an acoustic piano or maybe I have issues with the recording device. What I would like to ask is, what would be the right recording device for an acoustic piano and where to put it for optimization for the sound (distance, inside the piano, on top of the piano, etc). I'm asking because I cannot find an answer out there. It would greatly appreciate and after wandering around a lot of channel, your content is exactly what I have been searching for! Thank you for making those awesome videos! I can all play by ear, know the chords, the scales but what I have been lacking is more variety and life in my playing.

Anyway, as for recording an acoustic piano, there are a lot of factors to think about. Quality of the piano, the quality of the room you are recording in, the quality of your recording gear, your mixing skills. I personally at home would try to deaden the room as much as possible, record the piano using a stereo xy setup and play around with where to position it away from the strings to get the nicest sound. I have limited experience micing up an acoustic piano but i'd give it a good go.

I have a soft (practise) pedal on my acoustic piano, but I hate it and it sounds like crap with that locked on. But it does sound very soft with that on. But yeah, even for a 48" upright, it's 500 lbs. But both kinds of pianos are nice, but the acoustic piano market is almost dead now and in a city of more than 800,000 people there is now only 1 store that sells acoustic pianos. Most of the old uprights are now going directly into the landfill. I was lucky to buy a Kawai piano before they packed up the store and left my city. Now there is only 1 store in a city of 800,000 people that sells acoustic pianos.
Woah, I didn't know it was that bad for acoustic pianos. There is a store near me but it is a small one. The only one I know come to think of it. I agree though, using the soft pedal for practice is less than ideal as its not very inspiring. Its used for very specific sounds in certain pieces where it calls for a very soft sound. So it's not actually used very often.

Awesome, man! We bought a Casio Privia because I wasn’t sure if I would stick with it.....now I’m four years in and looking to upgrade. I’ve noticed he keys of my digital piano make a thumping sound that is really noticeable when the volume is low. Any recommendations of a model that doesn’t do this? .
Hmm, theres different grades of hammer action. I would say on the cheaper end its got like a sudden 'push' at the end which contributes to the thud. I don't know about your specific keyboard. Honestly though... if you are at a stage where you are looking to upgrade and have some experience, get yourself to a music shop and try some of them out. They all have slightly different feels and pressures on the keys. You're probably at a stage where you know what you want now. Good luck Jenn.

I just have this M-Audio Prokeys Sono 61 keys Digital Keyboard, it has everything you have said except for ONE, 'Weighted keys,' would it be a good decision to just buy a new keyboard or just keep it and have fun with it. I'm just a 14 year old just trying to play the piano, your suggestion will be very much appreciated, thanks. :D
My opinion, keep it. i'd say its good enough to develop some good core skills. If you want to mix it in with the feel of weighted keys, your school music department might have one you can play on. Or wherever you hang around, there might be a piano you can use now and again to keep things 'real'. Hope that helps!

Sandor - Thats a whole new world of opportunity. Once you've connected your keyboard there are literally thousands of options available to you. It depends what you want out of your sounds. If you want more electronic stuff, omnisphere is good. If you simply want an amazing sounding piano, I personally use quantum leap pianos. The east west stuff is great for more realistic sampled instruments. For my recording I use a program called nuendo which is basically cubase. Others are programs ike ableton live, logic, pro tools etc.

As a piano technician I recommend the digital instead of acoustic piano for the beginners because most acoustic pianos are in horrible conditions.
Not many people have their piano tuned regularly enough, and even some do but more than half of the technicians they can found on the market don't do a great job.
I've just sold my acoustic piano and wanting to buy a better one (I didn't realise how bad the condition of it was when I first bought it, I'm a beginner). When I had it tuned it took a good couple of hours and they said it was because it was so old and worn. You've made me really consider getting a digital one as I think it would be more practical

You said tune every couple of months.... Is that accurate? I was going to pick up an mint condition Wurlitzer wp50 ebony upright for 1,100 us tomorrow. I was under the impression i might have to get it tuned once a year... Every couple of months is sounds like more of a headache than I'm willing to deal with.

Thats very complex and could be a number of things. It starts with a digital piano though. So on the basic end, most dig pianos have other sounds in them you can layer up. More complex... there are sample libraries out there which you can control using your keyboard which have recorded every inst. you can imagine in minute detail. So yeah... and everything in between. Its a whole different world is sample libraries.

Also don’t forget that you have the hybrids. Those don’t have near as many sounds as the digital piano though. Basically it is the acoustic piano with some in nerds of a digital piano classy acoustic piano basically. I look at it this way though. If you are going to get a digital don’t get a hybrid just get a digital it is the true thing. Or if yo are going to get the acoustic piano get an actual acoustic piano. If i could I would have both. I have a digital at home. I am a pianist for a living and I do play both.

I am a pianist for a living and I do play both. I do have to say for a beginner to learn it is really better to learn on an acoustic piano and I will tell you why. Yes. Most people I don’t think can afford that of course that is the down side, but as a pianist I actually when i was 2 years old started playing on nothing but acoustic pianos. Yea arguably the digital like some beginners say has lessons and songs, but this is not the mentality that you should have as a beginner. All the songs are is the demo songs that the digital has. I.k. It is like saying “Oh I bough my first airplane, but I don’t drive a car. It is better to learn to fly first.” Not such a good mentality. It is better to learn on an acoustic piano because you don’t have all the other things in the way to get you distracted. A digital piano does take your playing to the next level. In order to play a digital correctly, you have to know not only how to play the piano correctly, but you have to have the understanding of how other musicians play. Can you get a digital piano to play on??? Well, the answer is clearly yes but that is like taking a huge jump. Learn the basic piano first before jumping into a digital piano. Yes all people can’t afford acoustic pianos but even for beginners they get so excited to just start playing song,s but you have to work your way up. As a pianist for a living, I didn’t start like I said on a digital. I started on strictly acoustic pianos. Then as time went on after having the understanding of playing the piano, then I jumped into digital pianos and synthesizers. And it is all about technique how you play them. Some professional pianists such as myself will tell you the same thing. Learn to play on the acoustic first before jumping into the digital because after playing the acoustic piano then you can get the understanding of how to play a digital piano. But if you have no other choice I mean yea. What else is their right???? Then you have no choice but to work with what you have but in there it is so much better for a beginner to learn on an acoustic piano before setting on the digital piano. It is like saying “Oh. I want to play a very complex piano peace right now, but I don’t know how to play the piano.” This is the exact same mentality. Well, if you want the good things to come like myself, well, you have to get through the boring things first and that includes pianos.... that is like saying “oh I want to get a synthesizer, but I don’t know how to play piano.” No. The synth is a different style and technique of instrument. Learn piano first then digital piano because it does have the full 88 keys. Then,,,, if you want to learn synth, do that. It is wise to start solidly from the ground up. Once you have piano mastered then you can work with a digital piano because you have to think more on what to do and how to use it properly. The joys of learning both, is that once you have mastered your piano skills down, then playing the digital is just one more piano that you can get experience in. I know that beginners say that they love digital pianos but think about this. If you can afford an acoustic piano it is better get your basic piano skills down first. If you don’t have an acoustic piano, ask someone and I am sure that they would let you play and practice on theirs. Their is a ton of acoustic pianos around. Don’t just go for. A digital piano because it is truly going to screw you up. You are just going to get totally lost and especially not knowing what you are doing. Like joe said. The piano does feel. A bit different. Let me tell you. At the house, i have a digital piano but at work I play strictly acoustics. But learn to master the basic acoustic piano first. This is the wise way of learning. Then, if you want to learn a digital piano then you can do it but things take time.... sense I have been playing the piano all my life I can just sit down at one or the other and play it. When you play an acoustic piano you use a lot of brain power to play of course, but when you are playing a digital piano you have to use other parts of your brain to access all the different programs and instruments and their is the technique of how to play different instruments. The way you play a digital piano is not the same way you play an acoustic. It is different. Yes. The main piano is the regular piano style of course but it takes it further. I hope that this helps from someone that dos play both.

I don't think this is true at all. Acoustic pianos have certain advantages over digital pianos but theres nothing you can play on an acoustic you can't play on a decent digital.
It seems a good digital is a lot more affordable than a good acoustic. You didn't really discuss the cost-benefit of the two, though. That seems like a really important factor to bring up.

I agree that an acoustic has a better sound but ONLY if it is a really good one. A lot of acoustics sound aweful! A modern pro digital stage piano has fantastic piano sounds but they only sound as good as the speakers you pair them up to.
What is the difference between 88 keys and 54 keys pianos?
khaled7stars 54 keys has less keys than 88 keys. if i were you, i would buy an 88 key piano because it would have more keys and you’d have the opportunity to play more songs. hope this helped x
Totally agree. ‘If you can’ go for an 88 key digital piano and have done. It should last you years and well into your intermediate stages.

My opinion is this. I do play both for sure. I am a pianist for living and a working one. For beginners they should not even play those until they have gotten the hang of playing the acoustic piano. Digitals are a whole different beast and that you have more things you have to focus on. It can bee overwhelming for a beginner or someone that doens’t reven know piano. The argument here is yes but their is lessons and software. That is the thing people would say and argue about but that is not correct. A digital can help one who has mastered the piano but for beginners if they don’t know the piano keyboard first all the patches and stuff that is on board is going to just bee of a distraction to them. It is like jumping way ahead and flying a plane before learning how to drive a car first. It is so much better to work up and work the basics first and then once you have it go to something greater. Yes. Digitals are less expensive but the thing is you have to take your knowledge an apply it in a much different way when you play a digital versus an acoustic. If you don’t have the hang of the acoustic first a digital piano is not going to make any sense to you as a beginner. I have been playing all my life and when I started at 2 years old it was not on a digital and plus the digitals were crappy back then. The wonderful thing about playing both pianos is that you can go from one to the other. Ooh and that is another thing. You have to bee able to think differently when you are at each piano. If yo are playing an acoustic you think about just the piano nothing else. When you then go to a digital you have to think about the way it feels and how your technique is. It is so much different to play because of the action and way you play it versus an acoustic. So for a beginner I really do frown on them learning on a digital. It is better they get good at the acoustic first before moving to a digital. The digital piano is just going to bring your level up more. It is a new way of playing. Yes. After getting on the piano you can then get software to create music and a whole lot more but for a beginner this is really not wise. Better to start on an acoustic first that way you are not overwhelmed. When I play as a working pianist i don’t even hav to think twice about it. I have been doing it all my life and when I go from on to the other I automatically switch in my brain things I have to do. For a beginner this is not recommended it is better to start from the ground up even on an acoustic piano. Many people have the idea of they can just sit and play a song. That doesn’t work just like you said. It takes time and effort. You have to learn a ton of things before learning a song or more and then put a digital on top of that this is very overwhelming and many people don’t even think about this. That is why I say get the hang of playing an acoustic first and then go to a digital if you want to learn it.
If you have a good pin block and a damp chaser then you might get away with 3 tunnings a year. DAMP CHASER good investment.

My personal opinion is ---- these days, I reckon that the best digital piano actually sounds equally good as an 'acoustic' piano. And the best digital piano key action may even be better than a 'real' piano. But we know that - unless we have a special energy storage device and electricity converter ------ you can always play an 'acoustic' piano when there is a power black out. And with a digital piano - at least we don't bother other people when playing inside a house. And don't need to bother the neighbours with the acoustic piano sounds propagating all over the place.
At the beginning of the video you said people have too low of an attention span and don't take things like musical instruments that serious but I'll tell you my case cause sometimes is not because "oh social media blablabla you have 3 secs attention span blablabla, not serious blablabla", sometimes there's absolutely no value in the way "teachers" share their knowledge to the students so the student straight up don't want to learn.
For instance, Back in the day I really liked what a lot of rockstars and metal band were doing so I enrolled into standard guitar classes and right up front I told the teacher I wanted to learn metal/rock stuff.
Guess what? What he thought me was worthless songs to me such as "Lemon tree" or "Let it be" from the beatles... Eventually, I quit and at this point is where people being to talk non-sense and say stuff like "oh you don't care about the instrument then" or "you're just another quitter like the hundreds of students who come and go".
But A few weeks after I quit thanks to GOD's help I practiced really hard and was easily getting 400 bpm notes and was starting to hit metal song such as "from whom the bells tolls" on top of learning rock songs by ear such as "Let there be rock"... Because GOD gave me an amazing new way to practice exactly what I wanted to learn! After that, I even began to learn improvisation...
Meanwhile, other students with him at the exact same amount of time practicing as me were most likely still learning hard shit such as "Smoke in the waters" or "Stairway to Heaven"... He's not a bad teacher, but what he teaches does not suit players who just want to rock hard! He suits more those who just want to have a foundation of guitar like arpeggios, chords, etc...
If the student is not paying attention then what you're teaching has no value to them, simple as that and 99% of teachers don't care about this fact, they don't even care if the student is having a good time or if he's learning what suits him best...
it's 2021 and I'm sure digital pianos nowadays are more advanced and almost can mimic acoustic piano. at first, I was hesitated to buy digital piano bcos of the sound may look fake. but after many surveys, I'm sure they have improved the technology from time to time. regardless, if you have spare money to spend on acoustic, a person who plays classical and would play every day, then I think it is worth it. if you play pop songs, occasionally classical and only play 3 times a week, and play it as a part of a hobby, I think it is better off for digital piano only. this is just my opinion btw. as he said, it all depends on your lifestyle :)
Technology has improved - leaps and bounds. The best digital pianos these days sound equally as good as the best 'acoustic' pianos. And certainly don't need to keep tuning digital pianos. Although - a digital piano also has a working life-time, as it has mechanical mechanisms within, and also electronic components - which can break or fail at some time in the future. Even the display panel can fail at some time. Key action of best digital pianos definitely match it with the best acoustic pianos. Not just match the best acoustic ------ but may even surpass the best acoustic pianos.

There was just a 'may'. Both acoustic and digital pianos are amazing. Outstanding inventions. Evolved inventions. Both are still evolving. Yamaha CFX MK2 has got some new tech and materials in it. And the physical modelling and sampling work, and innovative folded key mechanism design is still ongoing. Getting better and better.

when i first start taking piano lessons i had a 3 octaves toy keyboad that doesnt have touch senitive or dont let me press more than 3 keys at once XD even that rubbish toy get the job done when it come to doing homeworks

At that price you have to weigh up your circumstances and priorities. I wouldn't call 4000 cheap for an acoustic but I get what you mean. a very good entry level for that price. No matter how much you spend the benefits of a digital are still there.
