I thought it was gonna be like SVT's Thanks but it has a total different vibe to it. The few similarities would be the first build up and the way they used their rap and vocal but how else would they utilise both? I Promise You is so lively and upbeat, with beautiful (and actually meaningful) lyrics that represent their journey to where they are now. And like you said, best Wanna One MV up to date for sure!
I agree! The vibe of both songs are different and just because the song's buildup is similar does not mean it's plagiarism. A lot of songs have similar buildups, it's just that both songs used the same one! If it's actual plagiarism than show me music scores and actual evidence.
Watch Seventeen's Clap, Change Up and Trauma. Watch the Thanks and the Clap Choreography and you'll see why Carats are so upset and why this is an obvious copy. Some shots are absolutely identical. And the rings have been Seventeen's thing since debut. Wanna One stole them just like they tried to steal Got7's necklaces and Seventeen's fandom colours. YMC seems to lack the originality to do much on their own. Seventeen has had this style since debut, they've been consistent. Wanna One hasn't been. It's always been their identity, that's why Carats are annoyed
I'm also a carat and frankly I don't really see what you mean. The choreography for thanks and clap are very different from this from what I can see, (I'll find full performance video of this song to find out more what you mean) and what shots are you talking about? Please tell me because none of this means plagiarism just because it's similar. And I know rings have been seventeen's thing since debut but it doesn't mean wannaone is stealing it, I don't see what's the big deal with them using rings as a concept. It doesn't belong to svt and quite frankly if there isn't any actual evidence of plagiarism, I'll be disappointed in carats because I never thought we would go so low.

And if you are a Carat, surely you've watched the Clap and Change Up and Trauma videos. Watch them and you'll see why a lot of carats are annoyed. This kind of style has been used by seventeen since debut. Its their identity. They've been consistent. Wanna One hasn't. And I get that Wanna One is a short term group so they're trying to milk as much money from them as possible but this level of similarity seems far too close to be coincidental

Seventeen is not the only one who did a "prolonging" before a drop. Remember, NU'EST's 'Where You At?'. They're both from Pledis though so I guess it's not the best example.

My view might be insignificant, but i did feel the same way that this song felt so bright and sunshine-y and perfect. . .it's so WannaOne! It just has that don't worry-be happy feel which is i think exactly the message that they want to convey to their fans. ^^ i also thought that slow-mo glittery scene was just beautiful. This song has definitely grown on me since the first listen, and I also love the mv and the build up! I feel like they're songs are very addicting, but they do take more than one listen to really like.
I'm actually a wannable, but I'm kinda annoyed by YMC tbh haha. Maybe because they have so much talent and potential I have super high expectations, but I feel like they are a perfect group but haven't been given the right songs. Idk. I end up listening to their songs a lot, but I'm still waiting for a song that is worthy of them and I love on first listen. It feels like YMC is just playing the game and trying to promote them a ton to get a lot from the 2 years they have, not really trying to develop them to their fullest.

For title comeback, they will officially comeback on 19 March 2018 with the title " boomerang". Jisung and daniel chooses boomerang as their title songs. Hi! new subscriber here. This is just the second video that I've watched from your channel after iKON's Love scenario but I already love how you react in both MVs. You see every detail like in Love scenario how B.I and the girl portray the stages of relationship, the scene where the camera is spinning and display the stages of relationship. I also love how you say what you like about the video or the song like in this one, the slowmo of kang daniel, how guanlin got more lines, the blue background and second verse, everything. Finally I see someone not just fangirl/fanboying(though it's not a bad thing) that reacting to kpop. Thank you for being objective to the musics that I love. gotta watch your other videos! ppyong~

YMC was going to make IPU a title track and Wannaone suggested it was more suitable for fan song. I mean...I love Wannaone and I love IPU but if IPU was their title track.... I would’ve been disappointed.
same, it does not appeal to the general public who doesn't know or listen to wanna one imo, its too specific to us fans and not hyped enough for main title track. I'm glad they made the change though i have to wait another 12 days cuz of the pushback XD

Not saying they were stealing anything, just wishing wanna one had their own sound, there are a lot of other groups that I can also see in wanna one... i feel like wanna one is just a group that is going with trends rather than trying to make their own... not the groups fault, definitely not saying anything about the group... they are only going to be around until December so I wish the company would put a little more effort into wanna one's sound...
Mady Turner I'm a wannable but I do agree w you, I admire groups like seventeen cuz they have a distinct sound. I like songs by wanna one especially beautiful, not a particular sound but it's very genuine and emotional, sth that appeals to me and I think suits them well especially since they indeed have a lot to convey within the remaining time tgt w us. Actually members like Jaehwan and Daehwi do compose their own music but don't think the company will let them compose like pledis does, at least not during wanna one era, although it'll be very meaningful... I think they will be trying different sounds since it's very hard to determine and decide on one that suits them the most within this period. Sad, I'm getting emotional, oh wellz.

I've been watching your videos for like two days straight now and they're so good and constructive and well-worded! I'm wondering, would you consider doing a reaction video to Light, their most recent comeback? (or their unit songs)
I thought I was the only one who felt ipu sounded so familiar and at the end of the song I realized it sounded quite similar to Gomapda, with it going upbeat then slow, powerful vocals then upbeat and then the edm chorus. I listened to ipu and gomapda like so many times and I seriously feel like they are similar in a way so knowing pd feels it too makes me feel relieved I'm not the only one thinking they sound similar

I like Wanna One but I enjoy JBJ's style more... I think I.P.U would be more enjoyable if they hyped the first chorus as well.. it was a little bit disappointed. To me it wasn't like SVT do.. because in Thanks they go slow first but then they get hyped all in the first chorus.. in I.P.U they only did the slow part and killed it (not in a good way) for me.

Hi wannables. Just wanna remind u no carat is rude or mean to ur faves. No one is talking shit about wanna1 as members, we know they have little artistic freedom and they don't have much to say to their company. They performed beautifully, as usual.
Carats are dissapointed with their company, their producers, their mv filmmakers, it's so obvious originality is lacking from them.

Its a fun song but actually the lyric is very sad. Anyone that gone through broduce101 would deeply understand. They sing about it was their last chance. They hoped someone would notice them. Each line of the members are correct to their own situation. All of them had no chance to debut or successful, thanks to the fans they reborn. It was this time last year b101 started. It was really hard for them and the fans. The amount of scandals and hating was out of the world. All of the members got criticize in one way or another but thanks to the hard time, now everyone appreciate the result

yes i was thinking the same thing. i loved the verses, but i thought the first half of the song was a little empty. i was puzzled because the first chorus sounded more like a prechorus, but it obviously is the chorus if not it'll be too prolonged. that 2nd build up kinda toned the song down so i didn't really feel the impact when the drop finally came :( but yeah i guess because of that, the other 2 choruses sounded a lot stronger/better.
i personally think the "prolonged" part was very different compared to svt. for "thanks", the structure was verse-rap-prechorus-(drop)chorus. the 2nd buildup was still part of the verse, surprising us with a change in the mood, but then it nicely builds up to our desired drop, which is also the entrance to the chorus. predictable, but very satisfying.
"i.p.u" uses verse-rap-chorus-drop. instead of an additional verse, the chorus became a 2nd buildup, as opposed to a typical powerful chorus, which made it sound like a prechorus instead. and just as i was trying to figure out where exactly is the chorus, the drop came. so that buildup didn't exactly prepare me well enough to receive it, hence it didn't work as well. but that's assuming if both song structures have the same intention!
//but even without those longass speculations, the songs definitely have different feels and are sending different messages! i think that's enough of a difference :D

Did YMC hire the same production crew/art director as Seventeen though? It's so similar to the shots in Seventeen's "CLAP", "THANKS", "Pinwheel" and "Trauma" mvs.
PD, have you heard about CJE&M going after reactors? They are throwing copyright strikes everywhere and getting some channels deleted. JRE even tweeted something about this. Even if the videos are years old, they are getting strikes. Please take care!
