I have the same exact ones and they definitely are awesome, I carry them everywhere I go. I can't say definitively that they're the best because I haven't tried every single slip joint out there. That being said I'd recommend them to anyone.

My very first pliers way (and I do mean WAY) back when were Craftsman slip joints. 2 sizes. The only ones I have to this day. Oddly, today I hardly ever seem to use the slip joints. If for some reason I needed another slip joint, being a western Pennsylvania native, I'd go for Channellock. 😉 But I have several Tekton tools and I have been impressed. And it is nice they are making more USA made stuff so they deserve a shot. Good value as well.

Have you tried tub o towels to clean the snap on pliers? I picked some up after hearing about them from koon trucking and they work great on the knipex and snap on style handles

Agreed man, some things Snap on lacks, but their line of pliers isn't that! Great pliers. I love your videos man, they help inspire my channel! Keep it up

SO's recent pliers/cutters have really undergone quite a change the last few years. They were always pretty good but have stepped it up for sure.

Keep in mind one pair of Knipex cobra pliers is at least $20.00 cheaper than the Snap On slip joint pliers sorry but I would never pay $50.00 for one pair of slip joint pliers if Snap On had them in a set of 5 or something that would be different but not $50.00 just for one.

I like my Snap On slip joint pliers better than any of my other pliers of that type. I really like the grips when having to use a lot of force and they are a lot less likely to slip.
My dad owned 18 wheelers and was also a diesel mechanic and when he was on the road he always carried them in a leather belt sheath. I got them after he passed so they have a lot of meaning to me. To be honest since I'm not always wrenching on stuff I probably wouldn't buy them since they are pretty spendy. But if I used slip joints all the time they would be a good investment imo.
I find myself using them less after I got my Knipex Cobra pliers but they still have a place in my tool belt for times I need two sets of pliers or pliers and a wrench.

Good Video. snap on blue point had a set of slip joint pliers (p/n CDA46CP) that had curved jaws great for removing cotter pins on front wheel spindles they were also usa made. Snap on discontinued them. I found some similar pliers at advanced auto on close out and all they had.

The Gods came down from the heavens to admire what Snap-On created when they released their updated slip joint design with the talon grip. I’m not sure who in their right mind would want the new mutated flank drive variant that omits the large teeth, however. The smaller one’s aren’t all that, tbh, but look out for the larger 49acf. The 8” version is still the best one, but the 9” is surprisingly great.

  • @scubbarookie

I think the flank pliers might be a take on what you would find on tongue and groove channelLock style pliers.
