It definitely takes a toll on your throat, and voice, by singing like that song after song for a whole set, and afterward it hurts. But after practice you can find out to achieve the same effect without doing nearly as MUCH damage. So yeah it tears your voice up over time, but no as much as if you were, say, screaming at somebody when you're pissed for an hour or so, and you're all hoarse afterward and can barely talk. You don't lose your voice nearly as quickly when doing what Chino does.
I think Abe's a better drummer than he gets credit for. A buddy of mine describes him as "generic," and that's not really fair. His beats are basic, but they've got a lot of intensity and strong groove. That said, Deftones is much more than the sum of its parts.
eriel oct he's much like Dave Grohl, simple and never really does anything too complex for the song but it's really effective and creates some very memorable drum beats (I.E. Scentless Apprentice for Dave and Digital Bath for Abe)
Everything you guys are saying is wrong lol. His beats are extremely linear and complex, they hardly repeat the exact same way and swing immensely within his fucking POUNDING dynamics. If your friend doesn’t appreciate his drumming then he simply doesn’t know what he’s talking about lol

The new album was on of the biggest disappointments to me. They had seemed to be evolving into an absolute machine. Then we get what is basically another Team Sleep record. UGH
Although it did have an effect, it was only 1 of 1000000 events which shaped their lives to make them who they are, so they could bring their own elements and create this nice music. It also took them a lot of fuckin hard work punk
