I think some of us have fond memories of eating commodity foods prepared by our mothers. The canned spam like meat was the bomb with frybread and Navajo tea! The cheese back in the days was way better than today's.. nizhóní...thank you for being thankful of the food you received.. ahehee'..

It was always better with fresh frybread that's how my mother made it for us. Also I remember all the different can food from the food distribution at the chapter house. I had 1 brother who took all the fruit cocktails I guess he had a sweet tooth? 😋 😅 Thanks for sharing your childhood memories.

Hi Yazzie's,,Warren,,,interesting,,something I still get a craving for too. Lol. We had a similar reaction for commod stew always the 1st thing used. I still buy store stew when I camp fo a few days, like you said ,its not bad at all,,,just bland. We also got some type of lunch meat that came in a long log like bologna,,,but it wasnt bologna! Lol it wasnt bad either. I remember my Mom telling me to slow down on the 1st few days,,we still have a month before the next box.lol Did you guys get the lunch meat in New Mexico? Thanks for bringing back some memories, mostly good,,because I hear my Mom giggling in most of them,,even though we were going thru tough times, we were thankful for the commod box. Thanks guys,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
