I've been expediting in a van for 37 years. (with the same large carrier) I'm required to display their company name and authority number since I'm under DOT regulations didn't see any signs on your van. I also can take Hazmat loads, so if I have to placard, I could face heavy fines not having the authority signs not displayed.

If you go online to the DOT site, it answers all your questions. Don't seek these answers on a TH-cam channel. Get them from the DOT who regulates this industry. One tip Insurance costs veray depending on the state you live in. Florida is one of the highest rates because of the higher claims numbers.
Great purchase you made. I would upgrade it to handle frozen food, medications, because you could charge top dollar, always have work and even stay local if you wanted.
Only if the pallets are standard 48x40 inches. The van is 168 inches length, 4 pallets = 160 inches. But if the pallets are 48x48 it won’t work as it’ll be 192 inches length, hope that helps 😄

@@ExpeditingAmerica I've driven the Sprinter doing local deliveries for FedEx Ground and let me caution you about cost of repair being very expensive due to Mercedes dealer pricing and rare to find an independent mechanic that can work on them. My contractor cringed every time it needed repairs. The Sprinters all had over 200,000 miles so they will last but you'll pay lots to keep 'em going! Also factor in how often you will be in rural areas where Mercedes dealers are not near and the inconvenience to tow that beast a long way would drain your bank account!

I have expedited for an owner operator in a box truck with a full size tractor cab (6 wheeler). Ran team with my X. Have been interested in Sprinters for years. I've been trying to research load boards but there are so many out there you have no idea which ones are best and most of them charge monthly fees. I would rather run on my own rather than have to sign on with an expedited company. I am 67 and don't want to run full time.

Glad I could help! I have another recent video with more tips and some loads. I am signed with a few dispatch companies and also dispatch myself with my own authority/DOT. The longest and high roof van will be best and your options for loads are much more. Good luck!

Thanks! For sprinter/cargo van transporting you just need DOT for in state (NJ only in your case) but if you plan on doing outside of your state/all of US, you’ll need MC. And insurance is 1Mil liability and 100k cargo. I have more recent vid on expediting if you’d like to check on my channel!

Nice Van! I want to be an owner operator of an otr van. I do know pretty much how to get started by applying for authority, llc, agent, insurance...etc. But whats holding me back is meeting my overhead and profit. Seems like the market is not giving me confidence enough. its a huge investment and I don't want to get stuck. that said, I have the capability of staying on the road for weeks, but I dont want to get under paid.

Here’s a tip if you need multiple mounting points running the length of the van: In my pickup truck bed there are mounting points at the front and back only, so I run chain from front to back mounting points and now I can connect straps to anywhere on the chain.

You can rent but your profits will be really low, van rental can be expensive. They charge per day plus per mile on top of that

That was magnetic phone mounts, I used 2 of them, I lined them up and added 2 plates on the back of my iPad and it’s perfect

Does the carrier you run under require you to have a DOT medical card?
Nope! Not required in a sprinter/cargo van since it’s under 10k gross vehicle weight

It’s what I found at the time, I own a gasoline 3.5 ecoboost transit now. I only suggest diesel if you have a great diesel mechanic

2015 Ford Transit T350. This one is diesel, but I recommend gasoline 3.5 Ford Transit T350

Yes, 3 standard pallets with bed down. With bed up I can fit 4 pallets 48x40 inches
