    In this video I talk about how the monks were created and how
    they came to be widespread in the recent times. After that I talk
    about the abilities of the monks and how they would compare against other playable classes in World of Warcraft.

    I apologize for the big delays on the channel this year, will be talking more about that in the upcoming Q&A. For now I'm trying to finish this series within the next month or two. Also as the Chronicle Volume 2 is coming out I will definitely use that opportunity to come back into video making full swing. :)

    I disagree with many points of this video: Monks have been severely underrated. (1) Firstly one of the man strengths of the monk is the understanding of the body and the chi within it. Touch of death the ability is a reference to this understanding and even though its an extreme variation, this understanding would serve as an insane battle power [they can cut off chi/spiritual power in the body]. This is why the shadow pan have a rogue / assassin like look. They can kill with one touch very easily. (2) The reason why Taran Zhu lost to Garrosh was not due to power but lore reasons. He wanted him to answer for his crimes and go on trial. (it's much harder than to capture than to kill). (3) Against casters is false. The Mogu had vast amounts of spell casters within their ranks (and hunters btw) and they still desolated their numbers due to their speed. A monk with one touch can silence any caster. (4) Most average monks have the ability to disarm with tools at range. This is how they won against the mogu. They took their weapons as they fought even archers.

    • @KronosSupreme
      @KronosSupreme 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The pandas won due to the huge amount of slaves compared to the Mogu. They lost due to their inability to work together to fight an organized rebellion. That is why monks use weapons and not only their fist to fight. A sword regardless of how powerful your fist is a better option. Monks have to be at the bottom tier with warriors and rogues.

    • @Tomcarmichael
      @Tomcarmichael 7 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      In the beginning before the Pandaren joined with the other races there wasn't a huge gap in quantity around a ratio of 1:3. This is however pointless to argue because of the Mogu's size [ranged between 18-80 feet in height since they were originally created as statues]. The weight difference alone is staggering. >>++ A sword IRL is stronger than a fist IRL. A fist in wow Lore can break solid stone and metal. To reach that amount of pressure per square inch and hardness in real life your looking at a solid diamond hammer drill. Lore wise they can do this with no stress to the physical body at all. Even a beginner can. (See quest line in four winds where u meet the secret master.) A warrior and rogue cannot kill someone with spiritual energy. or paralyze someone at range using chi or teleport or create spiritual barriers... {All these skills are all used and practiced by adept average monks at the temple} The question about the use of weapons is not an argument since monks ONLY used fists only during the rebellion. They now focus their chi through them amplifying their spiritual combat power.

    • @KronosSupreme
      @KronosSupreme 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, a warrior or rogue can simply kill using their skills of weapons and poisons. In the same argument a warrior could be able to smash stone and steel with a slam from a shield. Or a pirate rogue could simply blow up the boulder with explosives. Its not a good comparison for anything honestly. Monks are in the same leauge as both with monks having a advantage over warriors and rogues due to the amount of training they need.

    • @Tomcarmichael
      @Tomcarmichael 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      In both scenarios the shield and explosives would be damaged on impact and the chi fist is not. However that's not the pint. For varying situations you need to think. Killing efficiency, speed and defense. Monk and rogue trumps warrior in speed. Monk and warrior trump rogue in power. Monk has both = more dangerous. Vs. casters an average monk has more speed and killing efficiency than a mage or a shaman. Their spells even though powerful are slow and requires high amount of focus. Either way you need to speak your spell to cast and if you can't speak due to paralyzation you lose. That's why farmers who practiced monk power was able to kill the mogu who had Flesh bending magic (serious scary magics). So to sum it all up. Doron sees monks like martial artists like kungfu panda but they are more like the warriors from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. All mystical and shit.

    • @Nerazmus
      @Nerazmus 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frost nova and burn in hell, monk. Don't even try to tell me that Monk has much chance against casters. Oh and enjoy facing of swarm of imps, demondogs and infernal. Also check you lore - you don't need to speak in order to cast spells.
      Warriors in WoW are not just warriors they can tap into the power of Rage and some weird warrior magic (probably some sort of titan magic), because turning yourself into a stone "giant" is not normal. And don't underestimate their speed either, they can spin as fast as monks.
      I won't say anything for Rogue, because if rogue engages in open 1v1 he is bad rogue and he is going to lose most of the times.
      Pandarens won the rebellion mainly because they chose the correct time. After events in Uldum Mogu empire lost most of it's power and never truly recovered, and increasing cruelty led to all races of Pandaria (and even some Zandalari) to join the rebellion. Also they never engaged in open battle with Mogu, it was guerilla warfare, they only engaged in open combat in the final battle in VoEB.

    As a Monk main here's why your wrong for each class:
    Warrior : Disarm, Touch of death. Honorably bow.
    Rogue : Disarm, Touch of death. Honorably bow.
    Shaman : Disarm, Touch of death. Honorably bow.
    Death knight : Disarm, Touch of death... smile, laugh, cry, probably die.
    Druid : Chase, chase, chase, Touch of death, be out healed, chase some more, give up.
    Priest : Disarm, Touch of death. Honorably bow.
    Mage : Disarm, Touch of death. Honorably bow.
    Demon Hunter : Disarm, Touch of death. Tea bag.
    Paladin : Disarm, wait for that 8 year old to come out of his bubble, Touch of death. Honorably lol.
    Warlock : Disarm, Touch of death. Honorably bow.
    Hunter : Disarm, Touch of death, Honorably bow then proceed to stroke the hunters doggo to achieve inner peace.

    Yeah this is definitely wrong. lore wise think of a monk as a more trained version of Tai Lee in Avatar. She can silence spell casters by basically relocating/speed to her opponent and blocking their chi/magic and can use nerve strikes and stuns to keep people in place. I think you massively underestimated monks. I mean touch of death? Lore wise that's an incredibly powerful technique. Rising sun kick is a chi based technique itself, and lore wise blackout kick is said to be able to temporarily stop the chi from flowing to the enemy's head, causing paralysis. And also...PARALYSIS? A ranged- instant spell that paralyzes you so they can properly close distance with rolls and speed? I think they're pretty tough.

    Garrosh wansn't a very fair comparison to say that Warriors are stronger than Monks. Taran Zhu at that moment was severely weakened after being corrupted by Anger in the Shado-pan Monestary, and deliberately made it clear that he had suffered greatly for it.
    Not to mention - when equal footing is involved, ie. the trailer cinematic for Mists of Pandaria, where an Orc and Human Warrior fight against Chen Stormstout, Chen clearly comes out on top, for both his raw power, his beyond Rogue-like agility, and his ability to turn the tides on his opponent's strength.
    A major key factor to a Monk's power is their ability to not only exude almost inhuman amounts of strength (where a Rogue could not puncture steel ((ie. Master Snowdrift being able to kick a bell twice his size during the Trial of the Red Blossoms novella, embedding said bell into a wall completely by that sheer force alone)), a Monk can with their bare fists), but their agility and maneuverability during combat is in lore bar none than to the recently introduced Demon Hunters in Legion.

    • @Doronsmovies
      @Doronsmovies  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say it was a fair comparison at all, in the video I mentioned that this fight was situational and that the duel was very much equal. My opinion is that the monks do have an edge over the warriors. On the other hand I also don't think the mop cinematic comparison is fair either because that was a very experienced monk fighting 2 more or less random warriors.

      Or a human captain and a chieftain vs a monk who is mostly a master brewer... they at least are the most fit to survive the ship's fight, aren't they?
      Totally agree with the Taran Zhu point: he wasn't in his best moment.
      Remember that the monk's strenght comes greatly from their reason to fight for.

    • @FancyTophatDude
      @FancyTophatDude 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well, right.. considering the thing with the bell, it doesn't really matter what a death knight feels or doesnt if you can just punch right through his armor with that kind of strength

    Imagine if a monk could be immortal, unlike the other magical energies, Light, Shadow, Arcane, Fel etc... all require a sacrifice/favor in order to get that power, and some of them are risky, but the Chi require none of those things, they can gorw and grow and grow in power... imagine if a monk can live forever, how much he can grow, because that Chi is inside you, it is you, and that can be the only key that can never corrupt or harm you in any way like the other sources.

  • @stephanierara9463
    @stephanierara9463 7 ปีที่แล้ว +73

    I definitely have my disagreements, but I do appreciate the video and enjoy the series. I feel if any class has an advantage on the Shadow Priests, who's magic is largely around inducing pain and mental attacks, the most mentally disciplined class would have an advantage. I also think you over-focused on the use of hand-to-hand combat with the Monks, as taken straight from the Monk artifact weapon reveal, "A monk is only as good as the weapon they wield". I also think you overlooked their endurance despite using it as a pro for the Death Knight. I feel the training and discipline of a Monk gives them an advantage of lasting a lot longer than other classes.
    My last complaint would be I feel you gave Demon Hunters too much praise. They're very powerful clearly, but also very specialized. From their weapons, to armor, to training, they're built to fight Demons. I'm not saying a Monk would outright win, but I have a hard time seeing a Demon Hunter just overpower Monks; If anything, I feel a Monk is far more prepared (Ha, puns) to fight a Demon Hunter, than vice versa.
    I would also make the argument that the Mogu also had a lot of spell casters and magic on their side, but the rebellion was still successful.
    If I'd have to make my own list, it would go something along the lines of..
    Advantages for Monks: Rogues, Priests, Warriors.
    Tie/Situational Fights: Demon Hunters, Hunters (Depends on how mobile you actually feel a Monk can be, since a joe-shmoe hunter wouldn't have a truly threatening pet. Could be bumped down depending on that.), Paladin, Shamans (The closest class to Monk lorewise), Druid (So vastly varied in power it's hard to place them anywhere).
    Disadvantage for Monks: The rest of the spell casters (Unless you think highly on their mobility, then more situational), Death Knights being their true 'hard counter'.
    Either way, I'm sorry if this came off as confrontational or defensive! I did really enjoy the video, just wanted to put in my two cents. Thank you for the video. =)

    • @Doronsmovies
      @Doronsmovies  7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I appreciate the feedback, you make a lot of great points and I do see that I should have expanded on a few areas. You do make a good argument about the shadowpriests but their magic doesn't revolve solely around mind control, they do have other powerful void spells.
      When it comes to the death knights, I still think their stamina is very much above that of a monk due to them being undead and thus not even having the concept of stamina. The training of the monks is very serious but so is of the other classes, like the warriors or the rogues. In most cases classes reach the peak of what is 'humanly' (for the lack of a better term) possible, while undead are above that. This also ties into the demon hunter argument. While they are specialized they have a demon inside them that is inherently more powerful than an average mortal.
      Other than that I do feel like I should have expanded more on these things now that I look at it. I do appreciate you taking the time to write this feedback. :)

    • @Eroll-dw8ex
      @Eroll-dw8ex 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's maybe a bit dumb to say but, a monk (like the other classes) can win against demons so doesn't that mean the Demon Hunter wouldn't be that over powered ?
      EDIT: I'm also thinking about Maiev's guardians who can fight equally a demon hunter with specific training and some arcane magic.
      Just saying that "mortal" beings can match Demon hunters even with the demon blood they have

    • @richardsloan2279

      TBH I feel that most classes wouldn't know how to handle the monk as they are relatively new to universe. If you watch the MoP video, the human and the orc both can't believe what the monk can do and can't even touch him. I see Warriors/Rogues/hunters as the rank and file of an army and would not even be a challenge to a monk. I think monks are more like special forces operatives slightly above these classes.

    Why do i feel like Monks are actually one of the best melee fighters? I mean, their entire culture and dedication is about melee combat. They are trained to make a very, VERY deadly weapon out of anything, even their own body. I feel like Monks would absolutely ruin the average Paladin. Monks are strong, agile and fast, they wouldn't have much trouble closing in on enemies with ranged weapons as well. I would personally place them very high in the Medium category with a pretty decent potential of going to the High category. This is because, even though Monks are really strong, they aren't as powerful as your average Death Knight, Demon Hunter or Warlock for example.

    I think there are a lot of important questions that can be raised regarding monks and their place in lore and nobody seems to ask them.
    Most importantly, I think monks are more similar to shamans than every other class in the game.
    In WoW lore, the "fifth element" of spirit, AKA chi, life (and likely AKA anima in Shadowlands, which means it is not merely tied to the realm of the living and thus not necessarily at odds with death, as Pyromancer may claim) seems to have a very strong connection to the other four other elements. Too little spirit causes the elements to grow chaotic and violent, as seen on Azeroth. Too much spirit causes plagues of organic life that destroy the other elements, as seen with the Sporemounds on Draenor. This element of spirit is shown to influence even world souls, which leads me to believe that perhaps the elements that make up Azeroth are akin to her "body" for the time being, and thus mortal bodies can be equated to miniature versions of the planet, comprised of their own elements, which many of the playable races are either forged with or directly descended from. Therefore, through manipulating their spirits, monks manipulate the elements of their body, enabling them (often with the help of alchemical brews) to render their skin as hard as stone or expel their controlled fury as Spinning Fire Blossoms.
    Shaman and druids also derive their power from the Chi, however Shamans harness this element to coordinate with elemental spirits, and druids pull the spirit of life itself from the wilds around them. The ability to harness spirit is probably alien to the elements, thus giving them incentive to work alongside mortal shamans. The shaman's spirt/anima/shadowlands connection may also be seen through their ability to peer into the spirit world to see into the past and future (See Drek'thar and Thoralius the Wise) and call upon what was probably originally Goldrinn in Ardenweald to summon ghost wolves. Despite their popularity across races and the longevity of druids/shamans, these classes haven't figured much of these specifics out as they tend to shun science in favor of spirituality. The Night Elves are especially guilty of this, as they tend to be quite the Luddites following the Sundering.
    Certain elements, like water (and therefore mist) have a stronger connection to the element of spirit. Thus, when a monk or shaman wants to heal someone, their spells manifest as mist or water.

    Great video man. Keep up the great work man. Was very impressed with the ending part of the video doing the full explanation. After all the classes it might be interesting to do a in depth fight between certain classes. Like lets say a monk vs. a hunter what the classes will do to counter each other with their spells and how the fight would go.
    I will say the editing required to do this would be very different and maybe much harder to pull off. Just throwing the idea out there for video ideas for you. These videos can hugely blow up in my opinion like how the death battle videos have.
    Hell even do death battles on huge lore characters would make a huge spark of interest for many people to watch. Again great work and hope to see more growth over the years.

  • @DemonMaluMintus
    @DemonMaluMintus 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I know this video is old though I would like to point out few things. A) It is a common miss conception with dh and other classes. Due to illidan novels. (I did read the novel and I rp a dh actually.) In the novels, it is showed that dhs heal fast and are fast, and strong enough to crack boulders with mere daggers. Though what people tend to forget is that even a random monk in monk starting zone is able to butt crack pillars of stones. Also chi is quite versatile too that is the whole idea with monks it empowers their attacks, mends them and can even be used to shield against magic. We know that monks are super fast and balanced fighters too in the starting zones literal trainees fight while they are on one feet over thin wooden pillars X'D Not to mention even in legion invasion they were out there killing demons with their bear hands. Regarding hunter vs monk, "Taking a bullet is not the same as taking a blow" this is a fantasy universe..A bullet can kill in normal life yet look at our classes we have walking bears who can crush boulders with bare hands, we have paladins who can conjure out shields, or in lore at least, there are "blows" that are far more destructive than a bullet. Fel even druids who are literal bears can take literal fel enchanted demon attacks and absorb them xP you are looking it from a realistic perspective while it is fantasy. And lastly rogues, chi can be used to cleanse poison, now with all that out of the way I will leave this with you, given you lot seem to enjoy looking it from a realistic perspective.
    Firstly, monks were founded to deal with heavily armoured, heavy weapon wielding foes. Whilst most warriors ought not to be as slow as the mogu, they are going to have an easier time with them. They might be quick with their fists, but monks are quicker - with their bodies, and their reaction times are far better. Warriors rely on their armour to soak up damage, monks have learned to dodge it or brush attacks aside with their arms.
    Secondly, monks do with their bare hands, feet and Chi on the battlefield what many other people depend on weapons or magic for. They really don't need a lot to get a kill.
    Thirdly, Chi isn't just call on on every now and then for the occasional punch or kick - although you can. It flows constantly through their bodies and flows faster in a fight like blood being pumped ever quicker by the heart. A monk who has learned to control his Chi will have stronger punches or kicks than someone who hasn't, hands down - though perhaps with a few racial exceptions. A tauren warrior is probably always going to be stronger than a gnome monk.
    Lastly, let's talk about grizzly bears; they can easily move objects with a weight over 300 kilos. Now give that bear kung fu training and impled double strength through Chi. A human muay thai fighter can put a kick with 1000 pounds of force, or 453 kilos - nearly half a tonne of force behind it. What would a humanoid bear's kick do?

    I must also disagree with many points of this video, Monks arn't just focusing on the physical strenght, with the control of the chi, it is said a monk can shrug off even blows of thunder it self.
    Not to mention there is not just one school within the monks, take as an example the monks of the fierce tiger style, closest in game version would be the Windwalkers, trained beneith Xuen himself, they focus alot upon the path you spoke about, agility and strenght, But take instead the Brewmasters of Nauzu, most likely spelling the name of the Ox wrong here, where they are focused to keep their body nimble, and avoid strikes that would otherwise kill them.
    To the less physical based monks, you have the mistweavers, who focuses upon a other force rather then a inner, able to channel chi as both a defensive and offensive force, Chi ligtning, chi blasts, shields of mist it self.
    Chi'ji the Red cranes students focuses more upon learning, but if you see the Chi Ji monks practicing in pandaria you can find, they wield a form of magic, where they can even form flaming attacks, or cut through people with focused blasts of wind.
    A monk is based around all the martial artist troups out there, They are the masters of body and mind, To say they are simular to warriors would be foolish, as there is no real comparision between the two classes.

    I think a discussion needs to be had about magic schools and power in Warcraft. To me, the power source (school of magic) does not matter nearly as much as one's mastery of it. This is why I take issue with people saying Void practitioners / Warlocks unquestionably the strongest, simply because their magic of choice is, in scope, greater than all the others. How much of that power can they really utilize?
    For example, I don't think anyone would argue that a lowly shadow priest would be able to defeat Thrall, simply because Void > Elements. When it comes to monks, I believe that while Chi / life energy is generally weaker than most other schools of magic, the monk is able to make use of most of, if not all of it. Meanwhile, your average warlock is able to handle only the tiniest of fractions of the Legion's power. While I still believe that Warlocks ARE more powerful than typical monks, I don't think it's fair to rank them simply based off where they get their juice from.
    For the record, I think monks are easily stronger than rogues and warriors, and on par with DHs. Being able to access their Chi has the potential to give them incredible strength, far beyond what is capable of everyday melee fighters. In Shadows of the Horde, Taran Zhu punched CLEAR THROUGH the plate armor of a mogu, through his chest, and out the other side of his breastplate; a move that left Vol'jin speechless. That is not something any other non-monk Panda could do.
    Anyway, sorry for the length. Just a few thoughts I had while watching.

      @SwobyJ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sort of. Spirit is not a material element, but the element of life. Its operation is to bind with the others. Or rather, the spirit within us is what shamans use to mediate with the elementals. But monks are the most attuned to their own spirit and that's what they focus on. (Druids on the other hand use their spirit to develop nature in the broad sense, bestowed power by the Wild Gods as Paladins would from the Light or Warlocks from Demons etc). Monks are the class that looks the most within themselves and the good news about that is the knowledge that we have inner peace and power if we look for it, not turmoil and weakness. Spirit is what makes all of existence around us be something we call 'life' (not just 'living creatures' but out environment as a whole). It can be considered the hope within us for a better future (and in that way Light) but one that is of our determination (and in that way Void; trivia is that it can turn stone into flesh, as Old Gods did to the races of Azeroth). Non-Monks that work with Spirit usually tie it into other concepts as a beneficial force except for when it has to do with the 'life' of things that want to kill us haha, but Monks work with Spirit as Chi, the energy hidden within us that makes us complex living and sapient (thinking and feeling) people and capable of personal miracles. So Monks in WoW have cool unexpected powers like one-hit kills and quickened healing etc, all without seeking some external source. The only big downside is that even as our spirits/chi is more powerful than we ever expected, its still a source that is lacking and so far we only have monks as master of it, and well, you know monks are 'just' martial artists with a magical flair, not gods or anything.

  • @taeneribladestorm4731
    @taeneribladestorm4731 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Monks are not supposed to be powerful, that is not the point of all that training. It is all about bettering oneself, both physically and spiritually. For the Monk, it is all about the balance of the body and the soul.
    I think of Monks a lot like Shamans; Both can beat the hell out someone if needed, but most would prefer not to do that if at all possible. They embody the spirit and history of their peoples.
    I personally RP my Monk as an older Pandaren who has decided to spend some time exploring the vast "new" lands of the Horde and Alliance. He writes about the people and places he sees and sends letters home to his family with drawings of the creatures of these strange lands.

    "Chi is a secondary resource used by monks. It is the pandaren word for "Spirit", the same primal life force used by shamans to heal and to commune with elementals.[1][2][3][4] Monks harness their inner chi (i.e. inner spirit) to power their abilities,[5] while using their bodies as their main weapon:[1][5] the chi is directed to control the battlefield by enhancing own's movement and restricting foe's, healing allies while simultaneously damaging enemies, or invoking celestial spirits to aid in battle.[5]"
    Although I agree that a monk would likely be slower than a dh by far they do have ways to utilize chi--They can simply shot it out as a bolt or use it in the form of a lightning-In Legion they could ven use it to teleport, fly, and many more. They can split their spirit from body and in general split in to multiple pieces. In short although dhs and dks are really strong monks too icly are quite potent when it comes to fighting, they do not merely use strength and agility but chi to empower themselves.
    And on a second note comparing a gunshot to a punch from a monk or a stab from a rogue isn't a healthy thing to do in a fanasy universe...We have dhs who could crumble stone in to dust with mere daggers-Monks who can punch through steel...And mend wounds and rogues who cna use shadow, coating their daggers in magic and what not..It isn't some low fantasy universe it is wow-I am not saying a shot to the head wouldn't kill people but I am quite sure a monk can muster a really potent punch.

One of the first thing any monk learns in pvp is that you're as elusive as the situation requires, and many reactions for nearly everything. • @buldren0101
    @buldren0101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a monk main, I would largely agree with your assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. The most glaring weakness is their lack of magical defenses, the only type of monks that have some resistance to it are Brewmasters (which even then they'd need to pick specific talents to counter magic ingame). I guess you could make an argument about monks being able to dodge certain spells, but there are other spells in the game that specifically hone in on targets or instantly strike them such that dodging is out of the question. Warriors are very much on par with them, although I'd say the average monk would have enough skill to counter the average warrior as monks in general have more discipline.
    The real point where there's a power gap in monks is when they become talented enough to receive personal blessings from the Celestials, but even then those blessings involve either enhancement of their physical combat (which again is weak against magic) or wisdom. Arguably the most powerful monk in history was Shaohao but his combat prowess was not exactly the most potent force, his true strength and wisdom came in the form of the mists that hid and protected Pandaria such that his people could learn his lessons and find the strength to fight so they could be ready in the future.

    • @PoetaOm
      @PoetaOm 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Warrior vs monks is pretty summed up in MoP cinematic, the warrior has hard strength while the monk relies on soft strenght, as the mist itself is.
      (Also, the monks fight for what is worth for, making them as morally strong as the Paladin are, who fight for justice and light)
      inho Chen is the strongest one, being the most skilled in that "soft strength" ability. Or maybe the leader of the ShadoPan, being the leader of the elite pandaren.
      I totally agree with the monk needing of magic defense, touch of karma works nothing like the Paladin's bubble; also a stun recovery is needed, at least for ww

    Monk npcs have shown much more abilities than what you are given as a player. And from what I can see, their power is bound only by their imagination. Iv seen some just chilling around, levitating and circling about. Mages and warlocks would win in a power match, but most of their spells take awhile to cast, and while they do that, the monk closes in and simply shuts them up. The only true winners would be the deathknights, as they wear armor thick enough to protect them, and even then, it would be a tight match. Also monks use weapons such as staves and swords! I wish they would bring that back!

    Remember that the monks rebel against the Gogu who by that point they weren't affected by the curse of flesh, perfect example is that we can still see Mogu in Pandaria that are still in Stone forms kinda tells how powerfull monks are if they could defeat such a colossal enemies like the mogu with only theyr body. and the mogu had also manny spell casters both arcane and shadow, and from the raids and other encounters they seem very powerfull and the monks still defeated them.
    Monks are very powerful, why you focus only in they'r physical abilityes ? you forgotted that they have Chi energy ? wich i think the hard you train your body the stronger the Chi becomes aswell... a Monk can grow so powerful with theyr Chi energy that they can even surpass even DH , DK, Mages and Warlocks , remember that all those powers of other classes with Arcane, Fell and Death can corrup them ressulting in manny cases of theyr own destruction, wich on ther other side Monks don't have such a problem, adn that shyt video was just plot for Siege of Ogg, and don't forget Touch of Deth skill and by its name i guess you know you're fucked, and they can block the movments of theyr enemies with Paralysis, the way you are talking about the monk in game is like you are talking about the real life monks (-.-)' , in game Monks can do so much thinks with theyr chi, such as Teleporting, Using the elements like the skill (Storm Earth and Fire) and make spiritual copy of themselves and help them in battle they can create shileds that protect them from magic attacks and reflect them like( Diffuse Magic), they can create tornados they can also sillence targets and launch Chi energy balls (Chi Brust) like in DB anime (Ring of Peace) also they can fly :) they can even summon Xuen the white tiger wich is a FUCKING DEMOGOD what is a Demon Hunter a DK a mage or a warlock VS a fucking DEMOGOD ? you dude do not make these video based on the actual classes, but based on your personal opinions, the same you did with the rogues, they aren't magic users but they can do something like Cloack of Shadows that can make them immune to magic wich in that case a magic user is fucked cuz the rog need only seconds to kill him if he can't harm him with magic, and they can also used magical enchanced weapons and can cut through theyr spells the perfect example is when Alleria in the lore (A thousend years of War) tried to catch a legion rogue with her shadow-void strings and the rogue cutted her shadow strings, a perfect example would be Miev Shadowsong who almost cutted Gul"dan's throad by distance of a hair thread and by then Gul'Dan archived the power from Kill'Jaden to open the Tomb's portal.
    I think you just love casters to much, demon hunters and death knights.
    The Monk class with theyr Chi energy kina reminds me of Dragon Ball :)

    It is absolutely illogical in my opinion to suggest that a Monk could not defeat a Warrior outright in a duel. Even an apprentice Monk has more up their sleeve than a single warrior.
    I don't main Monk, nor do I RP one, but it is just a silly suggestion honestly. First of all, they are both trained warriors, except the Monk has access to extremely powerful energies that enhance their strength, speed, endurance and healing abilities. A warrior is a warrior.
    If it was true, what you are suggesting, the class would have no point in existing, logically absolutely no one on Azeroth would ever even want to become a Monk if the option of Warrior is available. You are literally sacrificing years of your life and changing your entire lifestyle to be on par with a simple grunt or a thief.
    "A punch that can injure or kill someone" essentially, a Monk powers his fist with chi energy and those fists have the power and killing ability of two maces, he can jab his fingers to your throat and it has the thrust and power of a spear. These are real threats a Monk can pose. It I was to saw, upper cut a Death Knight as a Monk, I would crush his fucking skull. We are not talking about an MMA fighter, we are talking about a extremely effective killing machine, which has been the frontline of a nation for many years.

    You think that a mage can just think a spell, same with a Warlock and BOOM! The spell is cast. What do you think 'silences' are? It's the fact that casters need to focus and channel their power, any monk (or ANY fighter worth his salt) would not allow a caster to do that. They would break distance and rain down blows to make sure the magic users are incapable of casting any of their more powerful spells.

      I think some spells can be "instant" trough mind, even if the most powerful ones are like we saw in the Warcraft Movie or even Khadgar spells at WOD

      Yes, weaker spells are instant, but a powerful spell that would take down a decent warrior would take time to cast. The most powerful spell in a Warlocks arsenal is the Chaos Bolt, a spell so powerful it two-shots people, but it takes a freaking age to cast. And decent melee fighter will know to break the distance to prevent a caster from forming such powerful spells. And using Khadgar as a example doesn't count, considering that he is to mages what Arthas is to Death Knights and Illidan is to Demon Hunters, or Tyrion is to Paladins. If you claim to be as good as any of the Paragons in RP, you should re-evaluate your existance.

    Monks are Anti-Warrior. . The Monks was created to defeat Mogu Warriors and the Monks succeeded. .
    Taran Zhu got over confident which isn't Monk like, even though he's supposedly an elite monk(his individual personality down fall), because Hellscream would never succeed over Chen like that.

    In my opinion the monk specs are;
    Windwalkers = Shaolin Fighter Monk
    Mistweaver = Recluse Meditative Temple Monk
    Brewmaster = Wanderer Adventurer Monk

    I think shaman or druid are as powerful as mages, maybe even more powerful, because they can just throw huge rock on your face...

    Brewmasters van get a trait to make their resistance work against magic as well, I'd say that's probably lore friendly, but you just like casters too much. :p
