Hi Leila, Very interesting lesson about how to differentiate between hope and wish. I admire your suggestions. Hope = to desire something good or positive in the future. Wish = to desire something that is impossible or not likely to happen. Hope = one day you will get success Wish = without any labour, you will get profit. Thank you.
I wish i had a friend like you. I wish i could spend more time practicing English. I hope i have more free time in the future to work on my English skills.
India and Indians love u both, thanku from the bottom of our heart for providing us a lot of precious study videos........ surely whole India loves u 😘😘😘😘😘
Leila, you're Queen of Grammar! Thank you so much for this spectacular lesson!💞👑 Now we'll try to explain the difference between two sentences you gave us. 1. I hope I can improve my English. It's a possitive sentence. I will take pains and study hard so I'll achieve my desired goal. 2. I wish I could improve my English. Here it's maybe a negative sentence. I try to improve it, but it's not working. We hope we got it right!💪😆 We hope you're enjoying the last month of summer! And wish you all the best!😍🤗💝
I wish I had studied harder. If I had worked harder, I would have had a better future. Hope everything goes well in the upcoming future. Spectacular tutor, I wish you over the moon.
Your teaching method just awesome. You are really awesome ma'am. I was in dilemma to use these word. But, now, I understand where I use hope and wish. Thanks for teaching us, you are really extraordinary teacher.💜
The difference between those sentences are. the first one it means that you have the ability to improve your English and you can. But the other sentence it means improving your English is an impossible thing you only just dreaming something you can't fulfill it .thanks teacher Leila for your explanation 😀☺😀😊
You know what , when I was 22 I had had a contact with native speakers , that's why my speaking was quite well while my fluency was a little bit good , now after I lost my contact with them , and only watching lessons so my hearing is getting better but fluency is getting bad . So I( wish) those days come back again . This is a simple lesson , thank you my favourite teacher
The First: Can happen. The Second: Cannot happen. Unreal. Your teaching is superb. I am an Indian with mother tongue Malayalam living in Kerala State, India.
I wish I could see the world living in peace without wars or fights ❤❤❤.... I hope that the sentence is grammatically correct... And I wish you all a merry christmas and happy new year 🎄🎄🎁🎉❤❤❤
I wish I could improve my English----- Express regret in the past. I hope I can improve my English. ---- Express desire in the future. That’s the difference between those two sentences.
Actually you´re saying you would like to improve your English NOW not in the past but maybe you consider It´s impossible since you don´t have much time or whatever. Hope means you want to do it and you can do it as it is under your control
Thanks Leila I wish I could improve my English: My English is awful right now, and I cannot change it. I hope I can improve my English: I have a desire to have a better English in future and if I want I can achieve it.
Thank you so much ,i had a test the day after, that's because i watched this video and thanks god i understood this lesson very well so i succeeded my test Thanks leila😊😊
Hi Leila! I wish you the best, and also to Sabrah, of course 😂 I wish I could speak English better next year! Look that I've used wish and not hope😂😂😂😂😂 Realistic is my second name🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 😘
Hi Leila. In the first sentence, it would be possible to be better in Eng. Using the second one, there is a regret actually. I had a chance to be better but it did not come true. 🙂 I hope I am correct 😁. Let me say that your presentation is wonderful.
1. Talking of hope there's an possibility for me to improve my English in future. 2. Wish is referring your current position that you are not good at English that gets you down.
Now i understand thank you so much ..I wish I could speak English fluently as you do 😞..I hope one day I would speak fluently like you . is this second sentence correct or i should just say i hope one day i speak like you ?
Well, I hope I can improve my English is referring to a future situation. It is likely to happen if I study hard; on the other hand, I wish I could improve my English is just a desire that you´re expecting to happen by chance, without any effort.
HOPE Hope is the little voice you hear whisper MAYBE When it seems the entire world is shouting NO WISH Sometimes I wish I was an octopus, so I could Slap 8 people at once..
Thank you teacher. I wish I had done things differently in the past. I hope see you again each other. I wish I hadn’t sold my house. I wish I spoke to her before.
I hope I can improve my English. For me this is means: This difficult, but I can find time for this. It's possible. I wish I could improve my English. This means for example. I learnt English before, but right now I don't have time for this.
I hope I can improve my English means possible to happen in the near future just with a little work. I wish I could improve English means something that is far away from happening and unlikely for me to improve my English especially without hardworking, I hope I did this little quiz right!.And I really hope I pass the exam the upcoming month!.
Thank you for explaining difference between hope and wish. and wish has many expression. "I wish I were a cat" and "If I were a cat" are similar meaning. Is it right?
Hi Leila! 2nd sentence should have the word 'hope' instead of 'wish' cos it expresses something that could happen in future... whereas the 1st one does not make sense it uses can which is used in present situations
I hope i can improve my English, I think it means that i learn English and have a hope to get better And i with i could improve my English, I think it means that i do not learn English at all And i just have a wish to improve it without start learning
Good question! 'We wish you a merry Christmas' is a different use of 'wish'.
