Welcome to the genius that is Eric Clapton, his songbook is huge, from his work from the Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominos, and so many others, then there's his solo career. He is in the Rock and Roll HOF three times and is the real deal.

As a reference to how great a musician Eric Clapton is...he's been a member of the Yardbirds, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes and has played with Delaney and Bonnie...as well as having a stellar solo career. He's received eighteen Grammy Awards and is the only triple inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He's also been awarded the designation of Commander of the British Empire for his contributions to music...so, yeah, he's a pretty big deal.

Eric Clapton, AKA Slow Hand. One of the greatest guitarists ever. People used to write on walls “Clapton is God”. I always said, God says, “i don't play guitar, but if I did, it would sound like this”. He is so good! Your reaction was perfect.

Some great Clapton tunes to check out: Let It Rain, Let It Grow, Lay Down Sally, Keep On Growing, Sunshine of Your Love, SWABLR, White Room, Strange Brew, Crossroads, Promises, After Midnight, My Father's Eyes, Wonderful Tonight, Layla (both fast and acoustic), and my personal favorite: Bellbottom Blues. He has so many more. One of the few maybe only 3 time inductees into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. His career goes back to before Jimi Hendrix, who said he wanted to be like Eric Clapton.

  • @StevesFunhouse

He had a "younger" career and an "older" career. Earlier, he played fast and loud and later he did the "unplugged" thing, where everything is acoustic. Now, there was always slower songs in his repertoire and even acoustic ones, but back then, he was known for his soling prowess. Both sides of him were great, awesome, stupendous and tremendous but some of his best work was done with his group Derek and The Dominos and his solo album, 461 Ocean Boulevard. There were others, but you'll get most of his greatest songs from there, or at least a lot of them ...
Here's a list of some of his greatest works (from all his groups):
Layla (not the later, slower version, but the older, faster one, from the group, Derek and The Dominos),
Bell Bottom Blues, Have You Ever Loved A Woman, I Shot The Sheriff, Willie and the Hand Jive, After Midnight, Wonderful Tonight, Forever Man, It's in the Way That You Use It, Pretending, I Can't Stand It and, from the MUCH earlier part of his career, Sunshine Of Your Love and Crossroads.

From the soundtrack of the movie "Phenomenon." with Travolta/Sedgewick. I had just bought my first guitar when this was going on, so I had to learn all the Clapton songs along with my Beatles songbook. HARD TIMES, WONDERFUL TONIGHT, LAY DOWN SALLY, and his Unplugged album and from the cradle albums. When Clapton was started in the 60s There was a famous painted wall with "Clapton is God" in white paint that gave him superstar status, and known as king of the British Blues invasion, right after the Beatles came to the US with Pop that was incomparable. Clapton stayed with the Blues through most of his career.
