I tried it and compared it to another popular string cleaner. I agree that it it does make the strings smoother and more consistent in feel. No finger noise with this stuff. Will buy 2 or 3 more tins very soon.
After using expensive Elixar coated strings for many years due to my super human abilities to RUST strings in 1 session.... (as you seem to have also lol) Yeah I bought this XLR8 and bought normal non coated strings and got in the habit of wiping down my strings with a micro fiber cloth and applying the string cleaner before putting the guitar down. So far my strings are STILL clean and rust free after at least 20 sessions on the same guitar! Hell Yeah, Awesome product!
Great, honest review! Thanks for this. Maybe it would be a good idea to wipe the strings down AFTER you play so the acids in your sweat don't sit on the strings until the next time you play. Maybe even use the XLR8 AFTER you play and wipe the strings down to keep them protected until the next time you pick up the guitar.
bought some on a drunken whim lol. Thought "What the hell is this voodoo" right after I put it on and played my baritone with HEAVY strings. This still made 1 year old strings feel new again, very cool. I would love to know the chemical compound they add to the pads.
Another reason the name seems is bit peculiar is that there's also a connector called XLR, which is used by pretty much all professional microphones I've ever seen.
I must admit I am a little OCD with keeping things clean I also use GHS fast fret and it lasts me years I will say I don't make the string rust I always wash my hand 30 minutes before playing but on your recommendation, I will try this method so I will see how it goes just ordered it off eBay.thanks for sharing
@@joelaaldavaz5086 yes it was very good I have used it once a week for a year on each guitar so I have used it probably 200 times I still like GHS fast fret and use it on the rest of my guitar both I use on my Gibson Les Paul Standard with no problems and other questions I would be glad to answer Joel
Any guitarists who like tinkering with cars and know what WD40 is will realize as soon as you use this stuff that it's WD40 soaked in a circular pad, with less alcohol in the mix as you don't need to spray it. You could probably make about 30 of these xlr8 pads out of a can of the stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if D'addario in fact buy the solution they use from the company that makes it.. I glossed the fretboard of my Gibson maestro as an experiment so now it requires lubricating as it sticks a bit but plays crazy easy, bending and sliding is amazing with the string lubricant.
GHS Fast Fret also has a container and a cap for the actualn "lubricantstick". Pretty cool too. I also got those extreme string killing hands. You are not alone. XD In most recording sessions like 3-4 hours and the strings are dead.
Have you never used Fast Fret? If you have and your getting sticky strings it's cause you need to wash your hands before you play. I've used Fast Fret since I was and 13 and I'm 44 now. Only reason I saw this video was cause some weird fan have it to us and Is never heard of it since I hate D'Addario products.
Ok man I made it to 3 min in and Realized you're a newer guitar player. If you can't make it through "one session" without the stuff, it's psychosomatic. One dose of fast Fret when you put on me strings, then 1 dose ever 2 practices. Change your strings once a fortnite. Never let your strings rust just to test a theory, it's terrible for your guitar. TH-cam done other famous musicians and they'll tell you the same thing. Good luck man, keep learning.

How do you clean these? I have one and I'm afraid to just throw it in soapy water because I'm worried it might ruin the sponge.
I honestly dont think you clean them. They're gonna dry out eventually and they cost like 4 bucks
Hye can i ask if my daddrio xlr8 have a little rust on the white pad that came from the string, can i still use it?

we're can I find it can I get it at Guitar Center?
Google is your friend. I mean, holy crap.
Yes
I'd never heard of XLR8. I generally use String Fuel.
Try some Graphtech Pre-play on your hands to sort your PH level and stop body acid corrosion, it's good stuff:-)
i think its useless cause main rusty area of string is the bottom part and u cant clean it with that ,
Good info - great job
How much did that intro cost you? Lmao!!!!!!
Lol they listened and made a screw on cap
SPEAKING OF STUPID NAMES;
