    I'm a beginner rider and my bike is a 3rd gen busa. It was very odd pulling out of the dealership having never ridden a motorcycle before, but I was able to quickly figure out how to ride it safely all the way home, which is about an hour away. Its been about a year and I have never regretted buying my busa as a first bike. The worst part about the busa being a first bike is that you really have to know and understand how to turn slow on it or you will dump the bike. I have been very lucky in my slow speed practice and was able to pass my test and get my license.

    I am 190cm tall, Americans do the conversion, I had difficulty choosing my first motorbike, because it had to be a combination of cost, power and that I liked it, in the end I got one Yamaha car 900, I know it's a demanding bike as a first bike, 120hp but what convinced me was the possibility of having electronic controls and the fact that I have 15 years of experience on scooters

    Thanks for the thought papa yams. @6’4” and anywhere from 350-390# depending on what state of hibernation I’m leaving or heading to I have lived this video. The dr650 and its endless aftermarket support makes it a wonderful bike for a big guy as it can be made to fit. The hd fatboy not only fits but has a name that is endearing, and it’s basically just like every other Harley for the most part. They are absolutely built for larger people to be comfortable on but absolutely expensive but cool. A 2008 Yamaha fz1 was the first go fast bike I was comfortable on and wasn’t a monkey fornicating a football on. I almost got me one I was so impressed, but that would have been my 9th bike in the garage and I let it go. A fellow could get into trouble on a machine like that as that holds the record for fastest I’ve been on dirt. Also, an old yz490 is a wonderful big guy dirt bike, suspension handles the weight like a champ for trail riding and what not…. But man that engine is wild. Can’t keep the front end down, that’s actually the craziest bike I’ve ridden, just brutal unpredictable power on a light bike. Definitely an adrenaline junkies machine… and I’m not an adrenaline junkie, but I got one and trail ride it for a while against my buddies advice just because I’m stubborn and hard headed.

    Started on a DT125 (awesome learner bike), moved onto an NS 125, which was a scream on the road, but way too cramped for me at 6ft.
    Had a Dominator for a few years, but the seat was woeful. Had a try of a few small cruisers, but again, too small.
    Currently repairing a Triumph Tiger, and for me, ADV style is pretty much the only thing I can be comfy on, as long as the seat is decent.

    You make some good points, particularly in regard how a particular bike can be a suitable fit or not Unfortunately most Utube testers ignore those aspects. EG I was interested in a Honda CMX 1100 Rebel but when I sat on it my knees exceeded the tank recesses by a couple of inches, never seen this limitation mentioned, boo. Plenty of bigger riders than my 6'1". Fit is a crucial aspect, if it doesn't fit you there is no point in considering it further.

    Getting my rebel 1100 t (2024) in a week. I’m 6,2/6,3 and I feel just comfortable on the bike, might put some forward controls on it in the future but as far as it is from factory I don’t have any problem feeling comfortable on the bike. Everyone’s body is different even at the same hight so my advice would be to go sit on your bike in sight and take it for a spin. We all know how it gets once we enter the rabbit hole of ergonomics for specific bikes.
    Have a good one and safe riding to y’all squids ✌🏽

    G'day YN. I'm a little surprised that you didn't include the Triumph Rocket 3. My best mate is 6'2" and was about 440lb (now down to about 320lb) and has owned a couple of Rockets now. You couldn't get it from him with a stick of TNT! His other bike is a Triumph Tiger 1200... please ignore the apparent Triumph bias.
    I'm 5'10" and about 220lb and I have ridden both. They are both great bikes, especially if you are on the chunkier side of the monkey tree. I own a Triumph Bonneville America and I absolutely love it! Although it would be on the borderline for taller, heavier riders...

    Finally, Someone talks about beginner bikes for fully grown people, not just children. Even though I tend to go towards Large capacity Cruisers, With my 6'8" (203cm) and close to 400lbs It's hard to find bikes that can handle me. The Honda Varadero is perfect, but not produced anymore. Most new Royal Enfields actually work quite well for me. Especially the Super Meteor. The only sportbike I've found to be comfortable is the BMW K1200RS. Most large ADV works as Papa Yam said, but one honorable mention is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. The old model, the new one is too small.
    My current stable include a '11 Victory Cross Roads 106, '96 Suzuki DR800 BIG, '07 Honda Varadero XL1000V, '98 Suzuki Intruder VL1500 and finally a '99 Suzuki VL1500 Intruder. Comments about my choices?

    6ft6 here, kawa versys 650.
    Im chilling with it. Dont listen to the haters, try it out if you are in the market for a bike and you're tall :)
    Also the vstrom is big enough and most ktm bikes in the same type. But those are expansive.

    Some good older cheaper bikes for tall riders - Gen2 Busa, Honda VTX1800, Honda XR650L, I have all three. My honorable mentions - Gen1 Suzuki Bandit1200, Kawasaki KLR650. I'm 6'9" 240lbs.

    At 6'4", about 230 pounds, I rode a 2019 Ninja 650 for a couple years and was more than happy with it, despite upgrading to the Ninja 1000sx. If I had room for 2 bikes, I'd have kept the 650.

    Tall riders are blessed; they can ride ANY bike they want!
    Short drivers - like me - are limited only on custom/bobbers and scooters.
    If you think that Japanese people, an average short people, make tall bikes with high saddles... This is called IRONY!

    The Yamaha Tracer 7 is a superb choice for a large beginner. It's more lively and sporty than the Versys and has the excellent CP2 motor.
    Unfortunately, I don't believe it's available in the US but we get it here in the civilised world

    I'm 6'3" 185 and I've been riding for over 14 years and I've passed up buying certain bikes because being cramped up on a bike is a pass for me. First time I sat on a CBR600RR I was like NOPE. That said I've only ever owned 2 naked bikes being a MT07 and MT09 SP. While the rest have been middleweight sportbikes or litre bikes. Aftermarket rear sets are a God send for taller riders.

    • @PapZoltan99
      @PapZoltan99 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Why did you noped out on the CBR600RR? I am same size/weight as you, and want to buy the 24' 600rr.

    • @Frank_Torre
      @Frank_Torre 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PapZoltan99 It was when I was looking to buy my first street bike over 14 years ago. I had years of experience offroad with dirt bikes so starting out on a 600cc wasn't a bad idea. I sat on a Gixxer and hated the in the bike feel, then the CBR600RR and didn't like the cramped up feel with the rear sets. So I moved onto a R6 and it just felt right. At the time I was a idiot to swapping rear sets for a more comfortable rider triangle. Now with a few years of track riding I appreciate a full race riding triangle. Maybe I'll reconsider a CBR600RR one day but I recently bought another R6 so won't be in the near future. That said I've heard good things about the new CBR600RR.
