It was until the 50th minute in the 2nd half that Irvine found the back of the net of the Indian goal to make it 1 up. After this goal, Indian players were blown away with Australia having most of the possession and playing mostly in the Indian half. This paid off in the 73rd minute when Bos slotted into the net for the Socceroos making it 2:0 against the Blue Pilgrims.
It was a game Australia could have won by many goals but The Blue Pilgrims were well organised at the back denying Australia the scoring chances and the game ended with a fulltime score of 2:0 in favor of Australia.
