Thanks Jerome! I always enjoy your bike ride videos. I was born in Sukhumvit area and have seen many changes in 50yrs no more big yard houses along Sukhumvit road, Rex hotel closed, Esso& Shell stations moved out, no crowded people at Thong Lor bus stop. Just miss old days sometimes.

Glad there wasn’t too much traffic. City biking scares me over all but I would try it early. Ps. Spencer counted a good handful of 7/11 😂 still baffles me as to how many there are in short distances

Yeah nothing beats an investigation on the ground. Like at 11:40 you show the entrance of The Bangkok Thonglor (a "super luxury 31-storey high-rise condo with a project value of over 4,000 MB"). It's visible on Google Maps but on Google Streetview with photos just like 2 years old you still see the small old houses from before or at most a cleared lot (depends on the viewpoint). Bangkok is already updated quite frequently on Google Streetview but the city just changes too fast.

Very nice. Thank you. I've never been out to Rain Hill or Thong Lor but the Wine Connection on Soi 11 is my new go-to place when I'm craving a decent steak and European wine. As you say, their prices are quite reasonable. The ambiance is nice and they have a good selection also.

For me, Soi 24 it is not good, It is narrow.
...It has only 2 lanes I think, it has less footpath, it is hard to walk.

Nice tour. I enjoyed it a lot. I stayed in a condo on Ekkamai when I visited earlier this year. I didn't get to spend any time on Thong Lo, so this video was showed me a lot for when I return. Are there pedestrian bridges over the klong on Ekkamai and Thong Lo for when the new MRT station opens at Phanphirom Park?

A nice video and a lot of info about different areas of Bangkok and the Sois. Oh, and I like riding my bike out at Nong Bon by the Rama IX Park. You should head out there some time. I know it's kind of far from the Sukhumvit area but you might like it.

    • @globaltravelmate

On my last visit in early August, I walked from Sofitel Sukhumvit to Queen Sirikit Convention Centre and then to the local market at the corner, where there were few overhead bridges to connect all intersection. Good walk just that the overhead bridges were a torture to my bad knees 😅

I walk the San Saep starting from Asoke near Phetchaburi MRT and after walking west quite a bit, I went east (entering a ways down Petchburi road), and almost got mowed down by a motorbike. I was using earbuds, thinking I was in a safe pedestrian area. Foolish of me, I know. No walking surface is free from motorbikes here, with the exception of the parks (so far).

The downside is the dirty stinky water. Though canals are cleared but because of one of the biggest corruption, Bangkok doesn't have an effective water treatment system still. Waste water is drained directly into canals.
