For an area that is the birth place and the heart of technology, these lights make prestigious statement about our Bay Area. Hats off to the programmer, and all those involved in collecting money and those who performed the physical work strap these lights. You guys brought our Bay Area to Lights, and may God bless you all. I am very proud to be a California residence…..
It's true. New York is a grand city, but San Francisco has better weather. It's rarely too hot and it's never too cold. Oh, I've heard people complain about cold in San Francisco (when it was about 45º F, LOL!) but there has never been a snow storm. There has never been a hurricane, or so much as a hurricane threat, in San Francisco, either. While I have experienced triple digit heat in San Francisco, it is uncommon. It is typically the coolest part of the Bay Area every summer.
Bravo NY Times. Best shot and edited piece on this. This art installation is soooo San Francisco, geeky tech turned into art. That's what we do best here.
Sorry about confusing your name Leo, I was tired coming home late, after my trip to San Francisco. I was so impressed, I needed to express my feelings about what I have just experienced. All my comments to Alex were actually directed to You Leo.!!...you did an outstanding work with this piece at the Bay Bridge!!!... I wish many more successes in your future. Congratulations!
For those who complains about the cold in sf are usually tourist from Southern California and other states who lives in warmer climates ! The weather in Northern California and Southern California they are totally different .
being a former Bay Area resident...really happy for what they've done for the Bay Bridge...cause it was always 2nd to the Golden Gate Bridge and rightfully so...but those lights w/ the different patterns that illuminate are cool as hell...killer @ 3:11 - end..
Right now, I am watching this on TH-cam and I know that one day I will read about the lights of the Bay Bridge as romantically as those that sparkle and light up the Eiffel Tower.
The only time it gets some what freezing cold is late November through between early / mid January around 32 - 38 degrees ! Actually it kinda does snow a little bit here in sanfrancisco it is just not that common it only snows every few years !
If you have been to San Francisco then you know they already put huge amounts of money into helping the homeless. The thing is you can only do so much and from what I have seen when there, they have done about as much as they can.
Alex... Bravo!!...I am very impressed.... You have created a beautiful monster... a very inexpensive therapy section.... a fly of the imagination....I have been completely taken by your creation......My hat goes out to you. Congratulations Sincerely...Martha Hevia
This is not taxpayer money. Are you saying that folks who donated money to this should have spent the money in accordance with your wishes, not their own? And how much of their own money are they allowed to spend as they wish?
Proud to be from the most beautiful city in America. It's privately funded so all you cynicals can quit complaining. SF has done more than enough for the homeless. There's only so much you can do. The homeless are attracted to our city. So what?
Sure you can, though you have to take a flight to the big island and drive to the top of Mauna Kea. I have seen a documentary short film of people snow boarding and skiing down that mountain and it looked pretty epic.
Sure! You think I'm too cynical? Look how they renamed most of the ballparks, stadiums and arens after corporations. Advertising pollution is everywhere. I hope it never happens, but..

Thank you for making the Bay Bridge feel as pretty and appreciated as it's sister bridge, The Golden Gate!

Things like this is why I love that city!
...'like, it has some sort of hypnotic quality which activates a deep part within us'
--Why I enjoy raves!!!

There is none so deaf as he who will not hear. I, too, was impressed by the fact that private donations paid for it all.

Hopefully this helps to bring people together as family. Like we should be, brothers and sisters.
La lumière c'est le soleil de la nuit il illumine et fait jouer les valeurs du noir.
Félicitation aux artistes.
BEAUTIFUL. The City should Keep Them Up - Always
Right now, I am watching this on TH-cam and I know that one day I will read about the lights of the Bay Bridge as romantically as those that sparkle and light up the Eiffel Tower.
I could just see those "Color" Istanbul leds making the bridge look like it was on fire! lol. Cars everywhere!
I hope San Francisco and Oakland can come up with some money to keep this on-going! It will create tourist dollars ! Love this!
IT IS A BEAUTIFUL BRIDGE!!!
In my opinion, New York is the best.
But it’s not
I'm going to San Francisco in August, can't wait to see this!
This is so awesome & am proud to live in the Most City In America !!!!
Beautiful and creative idea! Love it.
If it's the most beautiful in America then without a doubt it's also the most beautiful in 'The Americas'
These lights cost about $15/night in electricity. Not bad for something of this size and scale.
amazing amazing amazing .. this dude was more than excited to see the LED lights .. Lyrics SF Bay Bridge Brochure
Beautiful.

its because its not what they want to believe...now days if its something negative it gets all the attention
How long will it take for people to present a good attitude and enjoy what's created for their enjoyment without being so cynical?
If you have been to San Francisco then you know they already put huge amounts of money into helping the homeless. The thing is you can only do so much and from what I have seen when there, they have done about as much as they can.
no because the lights face outwards. if you are driving on the brindge, it is impossible to see.
So beautiful
AYE a new place to trip balls! thank you san francisco!
Alex... Bravo!!...I am very impressed.... You have created a beautiful monster... a very inexpensive therapy section.... a fly of the imagination....I have been completely taken by your creation......My hat goes out to you. Congratulations

so beautiful!!
I heard that this will possibly stay permanently instead of being taken down next year.
that is good to hear, I was thinking while watching this "why just for two years?".
Someone is going to hack that bridge.
This is not taxpayer money. Are you saying that folks who donated money to this should have spent the money in accordance with your wishes, not their own? And how much of their own money are they allowed to spend as they wish?
Awesome!
Hella nice.
Only two years , they should do it Permenately
Amazing!!!
I wish the bridge had multicolor too

perhaps the locals will demand it become a permanent fixture as people fall in love with it in the two year contract with the city
.. and how many accidents will happen from drivers looking at the bridge instead of the road?
amen,
But the weather can be crazy though , hurrican , floodings
Why not keep the lights there?
Neat!
It is possible to actually get to Treasure Island from the Bay Bridge. I always see that creepy little off ramp, but it looks very sketchy.
It’s very possible. 🙄
what is the song they used?
thay should keep them there!!
wow........
Kizward, only the north side and cars won't be able to see them from the bridge
Smart move. It will bring more people to San Francisco. More money for a smart rich city.
This seems like a huge waste of electricity for a city and state filled with people constantly berating everyone else about the environment.
How long will it take for advertisers use the bridge like a billboard? ugh!
Zero dollars. Check 2:30 of the segment: "Funded entirely by private donations..."
hey wyatt its me richard XD
The drivers cannot see the lights from the road.
I filmed it a little myself last night you can see it on my channel
much better with a million lights ..
lol, people should see Istanbul, and the leds we have are not monocolor.
cant drive a couple of hours for world class skiing in Honolulu
Sure you can, though you have to take a flight to the big island and drive to the top of Mauna Kea. I have seen a documentary short film of people snow boarding and skiing down that mountain and it looked pretty epic.
Every few years they have to repaint the bridges... the bay bridge's time is in two years, so they will be taken down then
It was funded by Private Donations ,
I highly doubt it.
just one side
Of course they didn't put lights facing the East Bay. -__-
Why should they?
aww only 2 years?
Nah it’s forever on now
Very cool. Great memories for the kids. Typical California being paid for by private citizens, you have to do it yourself.
Really? I'll take Honolulu over San Fran any day.
$15/night.
No, just America.
watch me cross the new bridge on my motorcycle at my page!
Really?
Sure! You think I'm too cynical? Look how they renamed most of the ballparks, stadiums and arens after corporations. Advertising pollution is everywhere. I hope it never happens, but..
I love you baby!
I'm tired of hearing about Istanbul.
I don't care about Istanbul.
Yeah it could make a million more chronic homeless.....
hahaha thats some great technology... weird how the toll is cash only :/
You need to travel a little bit more dude!
so how much did the American tax payer pay for this ?
Awesome!
