  • Working the TEVEL-6 satellite in FM from Scottsdale, Arizona (DM43), on Wednesday 15 May 2024 at 1753-1757 UTC. This was a pass with maximum elevation of 30 degrees to the east of central Arizona. Stations heard on this pass included: AF5CC, XE1YDK.
Around 1:38 and 3:01 in this video, WD9EWK transmitted to TEVEL-6 using D-Star. During the D-Star transmission starting around 3:01, the downlink VFO is muted, but WD9EWK's call sign appears below the downlink frequency on the display. The Icom ID-5100 is not capable of cross-band full-duplex operations using D-Star. Even with that in mind, but the ID-5100's sub VFO can decode the call sign and other data sent in the D-Star transmission - even while the main VFO is transmitting in D-Star. No contacts were made on this pass using D-Star.
WD9EWK used an Icom ID-5100A 2m/70cm FM/D-Star transceiver and an Elk Antennas handheld 2m/70cm log periodic.
