This is a very difficult mv to dissect as it is tied to the psychology of Karl Jung. The opening scene uses a battle scene as an allegory for inner peace disturbed. A dove has an arrow shot through it. What seems like a devastating battlefield surrounds the dove. Jin hoping to bring peace back collects the dove and puts the dove in a covered cage. The dove is essentially dead until we hear the lyrics saying bring the pain on. This is referring to the process of what Jung calls individuation wherein subconscious thoughts and emotions which have welled up into consciousness and are creating dissonance within the conscious persona are directly addressed. One cannot have inner peace unless one starts addressing these "shadow" elements. The cage shakes as the dove now is showing signs of life. Ultimately after Jungkook's summoning of the pain from what seems to be a cleansing baptismal pond the dove of inner peace can fly into a space. We also see he no longer is encumbered by the thorny shackles on his wrists. After all dance away the darkness and endure the volcano's eruption, they can follow into this now green space. There is much, much more to all the religious and cinematic analogies BTS uses to lay out Jung's concept of individuation. It would take forever. DKDKTV, however, did a relatively thorough explanation video which I recommend. I just have to say I am proud of the ARMYs who recommended that you see this complex music video before the Kinetic Manifesto which is a performance video. For most reactors, they usually do the opposite. I think having some connection to the lyrics and meaning of the track will ultimately make the circus of the Kinetic Manifesto all the more impressive.
You're becoming ARMY, BTS teaches you think, reflect, and enjoy their music and most importantly their lyrics. So many layers that each person can relate to.
All BTS songs are open to interpretation, so while there are videos on the meaning of their songs, whatever you get out of it is right for you. So glad you are enjoying BTS and l hope you will for a long time to come.💜
Please react to ON kinetic Manifesto next. A fantastic epic dance version. Exciting and a visual treat. If you watch behind the scenes. BTS are highly chaotic funny. Their relationships, humourous interplays help them deal with stress and schedules that are impossible. They are well known to be the hardest working group in the industry. During training 17 hour days were not unusual. Their early career was a constant struggle constantly under attack. Death threats campaigns against them. Unpleasant treatment by press. They did not come up through accepted kpop routes.
I understand its a bit overwhelming with all of Armys comments on how you should go forward in this... Please do what feels right for YOU. We've all been where you're now, and we all probably had very different roads. And please Army, there's so much content and different ways to aporoach it, dont scare "armys-to-be" away by telling them what to do and not to do... 💜 Polite suggestions are ok offcourse, but dont say there's a right or wrong 😊💜💜💜
Great reaction- I am so pleased you reacted to this MV , so few reactors do and thereby miss beautiful storytelling. Kinetic manifesto is very much worth watching but I am so pleased you saw this one
They also all have different timbres (tam-bur) to their voices (trumpet voice, tuba voice, etc) which can create different sound qualities. Don’t know if this is what you were asking for! 💜
Have more confidence! Your insights are really interesting to hear, it's one of the draws of watching a reactor. You hit the nail on the head. The overarching theme is resilience. It's a reoccurring motif for BTS since their first album. And it keeps becoming more and more meaningful the more mountains they climb.
BookishTheories has a wonderful video essay on this MV where she breaks down Jungian Psychology/Philosophy and allegories to scenes within the MV, if you're interested. 😊💜
This is definitely in my top 5 BTS songs. It has got me through so many times of physical and emotional pain. Both videos and the behind the scenes are amazing. On Spotify there is also a remix with Sia( most fans didn't like the collaboration but her voice add a different dimension. Hope you listen to it on your own time. You put the pieces together very well. 👍👍Looking forward to your reactions for the other official mv, know you love it also.
There is explanation from this song on DKDKTV channel if u want to know more deeply about the lyrics. The song lyrics is more deep than we thought coz it based on psychology theory from Carl Jung that implemented from the boys own experience n have been gone through too :)

This was the cinematic version. The other one is the dance version (kinetic manifesto).
