I wanted to start playing electric guitar so I could have more options in my productions, and man... as a beginner, you're overwhelmed by all the different models, X Y Z pickups, etc. I've decided on the AZES 31, and I can't wait to test it out
Rock on! Great idea and I think you made a good pick, the shorter scale is a bit easier on the fingers to start and I really love the tones I get out of mine. Let me know how you like it! Hope ya sub and here is a link to some of my original music if interested. th-cam.com/video/Hub7Rz2yyXw/w-d-xo.html I have used the AZES in several songs, but not the one in the link.
I have the same model and was wanting to put locking tuners on it. Now I know which ones to buy thanks to your video!! The bridge pickup was a little bright for me so I put a SD Little '59 humbucker in that position. I am also going to change the switch over to a 3 position switch since I don't use the 2 & 4 position at all. Great video.
Glad I could help! Great idea putting a Little 59 in the bridge, I might just do something similar, thanks for the idea. Was it complicated getting it wired up? It looked like weird components in it, not standard strat type stuff I am used to. Check out my most recent mod project, hope ya sub! th-cam.com/video/dPjQZfjxRrQ/w-d-xo.html
@@JediJingleMaker I had friend put the pickup in. There must be something different in the component area. I don't use the extra switch so I asked him to disconnect it and he say the way it's put together in there, he couldnt do anything with the switch.
Great information, the wiring is very odd to say the least. I am thinking of replacing all of it with a few new pots and some brave choices. Stay tuned for that mod, the video is coming.
I had a black Ibanez AZES40 with the humbucker. Changed the nut and bridge and the thing would not go out of tune. Great guitar. Only sold it because I needed money for other purchases (went through a brief Strandberg phase), but now I’m thinking about getting the Ibanez AZES31 in Vermillion.
Yeah, it is a great little guitar. My only complaint is that the electronics in my are failing big time. I love how light it is, but will admit I prefer the full scale guitars now. I hope you sub and check out my original music, thanks! th-cam.com/video/Hub7Rz2yyXw/w-d-xo.html
I like it! However it is more traditional than the NJ. It is a shorter scale guitar so it has that feel. I would say the neck is slightly more beefy than the Schecter. Hope you sub! Also, check out my original music made with the gear I review th-cam.com/video/GBpwEyTadVk/w-d-xo.html
I thought the standard single coil would fit. I will need to measure that when I mod this thing's electronics. However, I like the pups in it, they are really good IMO. Check out my original music and let me know what you think. I have used this Ibanez in several tracks on JJM. th-cam.com/video/GBpwEyTadVk/w-d-xo.html Hope ya sub!

@@JediJingleMaker I put a new set of staggered height ToneNinja locking tuners on mine. The staggered heights were supposed to eliminate the string trees but when I played the guitar, the high E string kept jumping out of the nut. I put new GraphTech string trees on and it hold tune really well now.
This is not an acceptable guitar off the rack. But a darn good guitar with some required work. 1st the bridge has to be adjusted to the neck radius. 2nd the floating tremolo has to be actually adjusted to floating. 3rd the pickups have to be lowered correctly. 4th the action has to be adjusted. And finally and foremost: THE NUT HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH GRAPHIE OR BONE AND ADJUSTED TO 02 -03MM. Then you will have a pro guitar second to none. Great sounding and stable tuning. This guitar is NOT Setup out of the box!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heh, true, I would actually get a firefly instead at this point, half the price and much more guitar. The electronics on mine are not working and the small size got old. Hope ya sub and check out my original music! th-cam.com/video/lMVn9lFvBak/w-d-xo.html

Cool Ibanez 🤩 I have a GIO
Thanks @frettingitforward! Which one do you have? I am curious about the SP model with the roasted neck.
Cool. How is the neck profile compared to Schecter Nick Johnston? I've returned NJ to the shop because the neck was too thin for me.

Due to short scale what gauge pickups do you use?

@JediJingleMaker thanks and sorry I meant strings since shorter scale is less tension.
Yes, I use 10 gauge strings to account for the shorter scale. The 9s I typically use were too floppy.
What model gotoh tuner?

@MrGuitarchad1, Interesting about the string jumping out. I need to pickup a set of the graph tech ones.
