I drive uber eats. I watch this channel every night because I used to get arrogant because of how good of a driver uber has made me. Nobody should feel like they are too good for not getting reminded of what could happen. Never forget reality.

The way vehicles fold up upon impact makes me always wonder how anyone could survive. Blessings to the victims and all first responders. What you see can never be unseen.
Modern vehicles are actually designed this way. The folding takes away force that would otherwise reach the cabin and therefore, the occupants. Engine and transmission are designed to fall beneath the vehicle and engine bay and trunk is designed to crumple up and dissipate force away from the occupants.

The Kia did good or those occupants would be dead from neck injuries alone. Take a look at that big van against a small car, damage on the van says there was definitely speed involved.
Kia cars are built pretty solid, the newer models from 2011 to current. We had a 2014 Optima, t-boned a person who ran a stop sign, our car was totaled, but the passenger compartment held strong. All we buy now are Kia cars. We feel safe in them.
If I were alive and trapped in there I'd surely die from claustrophobia. I cannot take it - just seeing entrapment I get breathless and hysterical feeling.

It's so odd how there is always a random electronic function working in these destroyed vehicles. Many time the windshield wipers are on, yet there's no rain. Check it out.

I have owned several Kias I love them. My Kia Soul took a head on with an SUV. The SUV imploded its entire front end and I had $750 in a bumper and paint. Go Kia!!!!!
I think the fire services are the best. They can put out a fire, help police and then do the job of a paramedic. If I ever need help I hope they are there for me. Proud of them 😊

Why has no one disconnected the battery? The hazard lights on the car are still flashing, as a 42 year professional fire fighter Paramedic, I was taught to eliminate the hazard of an ignition source! There were enough personnel on scene, task someone to do that , with as hard as that vehicle was hit in the rear ended there is bound to be some fuel leaking somewhere. And a few charged hand lines during extrication just in case of a flash over. Other than that, good job guys. A fire a call like that our crew would go back to the station and go and critique the call and any video of the scene and see where we could improve on the next call.
It was said they didn't know how the accident happened ,well toward the end of this video it showed another car with front significant damage . Why didn't they mention it in the description in the first place . You need to do better getting your information .you forgot to tell everyone that there was another vehicle involved which you failed to tell us . My prayers to the victims families .

This is only because the IIHS tests and rates only for frontal and side collisions. Manufacturers comply to make their vehicle score high so their vehicle is thought to be safe. Since rear collisions are not tested there is no compelling reason to design the vehicle to be safer in a rear collision and we often see accidents with the rear of the car smashed into the back seats with a tragic outcome for the occupants of the rear seats.
I think it has more to do being that the trunk is a hollow space. The front of the car has the transmission, engine, all the weight and is more reinforced by design due to this so it is able to absorb some of the impact force. However, Ive seen accidents where the engine compartment is where the front seats are supposed to be. In this case, this is a small Kia Rio getting hit be a much larger vehicle that is probably 3 times the weight of the Kia.
The only reason I drive a car in the suburbs of Danbury, CT, where I retired, is , to get to appts, grocery shopping,and ,other local places. I have watched a few of these and I noticed how the firefighters always form a circle around the victim to prevent filming of them. Very thoughtful of not only the victims but of their families.
This accident was caused by “ghost” driving if the US would step up and ensure vehicle that are equiped with daytime running lights turn instrument clusters off at night so ppl actually turn on normal lights and are not pitch black at night millions of accidents would be avoided. I have over 3 million miles of being on the road it’s negligence, stupidity, and not so common sense. How many of you actually follow up every year or two on new traffic laws and abide by the drivers handbook? It’s in the drivers handbook and on the written test #imjustsaying “ghost driving is illegal in Canada”

I can't say much about the KIA's ability to stand up to a crash, but those light bulbs are bullet proof! Quick recovery to all those involved.
You might want to take into consideration the speed of the vehicle. I would say, by the looks of it, there was significant speed involved.
I think most newer lighting is LED. I would venture to say the white KIA was not moving.

Check the crash ratings for Hyundai and Kia. That car did a great job protecting the occupants. I will take my Hyundai any day over a GM vehicle.

If there were four people in that white car, and the two in the back seat are still alive, I'd call it a miracle! The Dufous that rear ended them, I'm betting hesbthe one trying to hold his arm/elbow still. He should probably Pray, none of the patients in the white car die! If a car stalls in the road, i5s the person in the rear who's at fault, most times. It's called failure to control your vehicle at all times. Drives me nuts when I see people rear ended. And a lot of those, deal with semi's, driving over the car, or pus hing it into a barrier! Nice job SBCalFire, nice job aMR, and thank all Law Enforcement, yes, dispatchers, are no 'different. They protect us all, and thank you road crews, for helping get things put back!.... No way this crash has happend at normal speed. So much resect for the first responders. They are almost daily exposed to this horrible crashes.
that first lady that they pulled out was pregnant. I think I overheard the conversation by the EMT asking "how far along was it?" I hope she and the baby survive.
I have watched a few of these and I noticed how the firefighters always form a circle around the victim to prevent filming of them. Very thoughtful of not only the victims but of their families.
Well, sometimes, but usually they're just gathering around to make sure that they are in position to help.

This accident was caused by “ghost” driving if the US would step up and ensure vehicle that are equiped with daytime running lights turn instrument clusters off at night so ppl actually turn on normal lights and are not pitch black at night millions of accidents would be avoided. I have over 3 million miles of being on the road it’s negligence, stupidity, and not so common sense. How many of you actually follow up every year or two on new traffic laws and abide by the drivers handbook? It’s in the drivers handbook and on the written test #imjustsaying “ghost driving is illegal in Canada”
Mr Cooper, according to google, Ghost driving: "A motorist who travels in a lane against the flow of traffic(including a driver that backs up for a missed connection)". I watched the video, and read the description, I couldn't find any reference to a wrong way, or backing up driver. Did you have some data about this crash that wasn't mentioned in the video?
