God bless her! Age has absolutely nothing to do with working later in life. It's all about the mind and she's as sharp as a tack! Here's to another 80 years!
I was an operating theatre nurse for 14 years and the first day when we stepped into the OT after a quick intro, we were whisked into TSSU because in order to know how an operating theatre function, we need to understand how TSSU support not only the operating theatre but the whole hospital that requires sterile sets, example cleansing sets for general use, ear, eyes etc etc. Young nurses who worked in TSSU have to come to the operating theatre to understand why their job and what they do is important. There are so many surgical sets with different use and sizes, a tonsillectomy set as different size not only in sets but when you open a paediatric tonsils set there are even more size of the same instruments. The reason you saw her opening and closing the door is because she is preparing to received and arrange surgical systems provided by Smith & Nephew or Mitec who supplies total knee replacments or should joints sets...etc etc... I can go on. For a surgery to go well and keep infections at bay, TSSU is a very important dept, the protocol and the workflow must be strictly adhere, how long and what type of solutions to soak and disinfect a scope, how to mix the solution in accordance to manufacturer instructions, storage and nurses like her always help out in research work cos even in TSSU, collection of data and research is needed to improve patient outcomes and productivity. She is NOT A LOCAL CLEANING LADY. She forms part of team that provide safe delivery of care. As for her salary, I can tell you she works better than any new grads coming out cos she is still very sharp. I would not achieved the milestones I have in my nursing career and be a better person if it not because of senior nurses like her. Thank you for your public service. Only nurses who work especially in OT, get to know the kind of work needed to ensure safety of the patients. For me as an retired nurse, TSSU is the beggining and the last stage for surgical procedures. A scissors is a scissors to lay man but to us, we can tell the difference of all types of scissors for tissues to suture to .............even surgeons can never remember all it, they will always turn around and ask, do you have a smaller suction and we have to think on our feet even that situation. Thank you once again. You enjoyed doing what you are doing so age is not an issue and you have heaps of experiences to share.
She is an amazing inspiration! Such an alert, healthy and sprightly mind at 81 years of age too. Her positive attitude and daily mental exercise with her still working most likely keeps her mind and body healthy too. No signs of mental deteriorating or dementia anywhere compared to the old folks I usually see just sitting for hours at void decks and busstops wasting away.
A nurse all her life n still not tired of it... Unique passion in her mission. She is fit, n her husband is supportive of her working as long as she is happy working. Her choice. 🎉 At old age, people can either be active at work in employment, or otherwise n still active, eg some chores at home or out n about, etc.
Thank you CNA for the interview, it is so touching to have someone working so happily for SGH for so long. CNA please keep up the good work, continue to publish more of such videos.
To each his/her own choice!! you can either work till you can't do it anymore Or Stay home and get busy! Cook, clean, tidy, organize, acquire knowledge, help others, volunteer, babysit,, etc Just don't lead a sedentary lifestyle!!
What a role model for all of us, meaningfully contributing and with opportunities to continue to contribute. Thank you for being an inspiration and #jiayou! To many many more years of good health and service.
That's incredible. Maybe Japanese food is the best for long life. Unfortunately Japan has problem with aging population. Slowly declining population not replaced with young people. Much like Korea.
Respect to beautiful Ms Loke! You keep on to be active keeps your mind sharp. Government should create a lot jobs for older people that are part-time. So many still can work but an 8 h day might be too much for many.
Fantastic! Those who can should continue to work. This helps to alleviate manpower shortage in the country. It's so obvious that PAP is the only responsible and effective party in s'pore, always encouraging the seniors not to stop contributing.❤❤
Awesome!! As a nurse of 17 yrs myself, I have no interest in seeking retirement at a certain age. However, my job is very demanding on a stroke unit with stress of customer service the very ill patients of today and I KNOW I'm not staying there much longer. Great to have many options.
Alot of our senior nurses are still working, when they retired say ward based nursing, another ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) from another dept will grab them cos thru job modifiications and adjustment without compromising patient safety. I have a retired nurse who work twice in a week in the OT, cos her daugther wanted her to look after the baby but she disliked cooped up whole day with a new borned so she worked twice a week to get out of the house and she has so many available knowledge and the patience to impart to young nurses.
Central supply is an easy job … in United States RNs dont work in Central supply.. if grandma works in medical surgical, critical care units it’s a miracle if she still works at her age !
In fact, she works because of the high cost of living and her children may not be able to support her. The majority of people will no longer work at such an age
I see nurses with 4 years experience on You Tube saying they are burnt out. 😁 what a joke.. There is no such thing as burnt out if you find your passion in the field. 30 years RN. I'll reduce my hours but won't retire.
Not wise of employers doing this. She will be prone to falls herself and making mistake in her work despite her yrs of experience. Looking at the way she talks with stammering speech and the shaky hands and lack of co-ordination, it would be better if she live out her yrs in retirement.
Most probably she will have to do that soon especially if she is my mother and watching this video, I would not want her to fall down and have a hip replacement cos co-morbidities is around 90% for her age.
God bless her! Age has absolutely nothing to do with working later in life. It's all about the mind and she's as sharp as a tack! Here's to another 80 years!
Not everyone ages as well as she does or is as fit.
That's amazing.....steady boon bi bi.❤
She should be the interviewer for all people who want to be a nurse.
I have a workmate who’s 79 years old, still working at bedside in the ICU, she’s amazing.

It's a privilege to be able to work in your line of passion, that's what kept her going.
You're the best and unbeatable medical field worker i ever seen grandma 🙌🏻 you're doing amazing !!!! Keep your going and stay healthy grandma💪🏻.

What an incredible lady! I am also a senior now but still actively doing what I love, nursing!

May god continue to keep her.
In Asia Singapore has the best job for seniors.I remember there is a 67 yrs old manager in Mc Donald .
Wow, so inspring career story from this amazing woman. Nursing is one of the hardest job & she managed to do it for 60yrs.
Clearly in Singapore, the older employees are well respected. She looks younger than 81!
Nurse Loke salute 🫡! Encouraging to people who wants to continue serving n helping others after 60s
What an angel 😇💞
Wow!!! Very inspirational !!👏🎉🎉
*In Japan there is a 99 years old nurse(she just retired)...and around 80 years old are some others....also a 98 years old female physician...*
That's incredible. Maybe Japanese food is the best for long life. Unfortunately Japan has problem with aging population. Slowly declining population not replaced with young people. Much like Korea.

Passion in her job!!!!!!! Cheers!!!!!!!❤❤
Absolutely a fine salute to you! You are my inspiration. ❤❤❤
I salute u Madam, God bless
Wow, just wow!
She looks awesome. The elderly get frail because they aren't doing anything.
Fantastic! Those who can should continue to work. This helps to alleviate manpower shortage in the country. It's so obvious that PAP is the only responsible and effective party in s'pore, always encouraging the seniors not to stop contributing.❤❤
Love u Dr.Charles Toh from 🇲🇲.

GOD BLESS YOU 😇
If she can do it we can do it 😊 let's keep going!!
Employers should treasure senior staff including recruitment.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Awesome
SheAwesomelySuperly❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐💪💪💪👍👍👍
Well said nurse!
I like what she said, learn new things.
She is a tough " cookie" v self sacrificing staff ...not afraid of hard work.😊

Admirable! 👍
*A 70 year old Japanese physician just starting his internship after graduation...*

Central supply is an easy job … in United States RNs dont work in Central supply.. if grandma works in medical surgical, critical care units it’s a miracle if she still works at her age !
Good to carry on working..but better to enjoy remaining yrs.. like No tomorrow..then its worth living..only Live Once..
In fact, she works because of the high cost of living and her children may not be able to support her. The majority of people will no longer work at such an age
🤝🤝🤝🤝👍👍👍👍💝💝💝💝💝
Sad tales of life in SG.
What is so sad about 80 years old fit and still be able to work?.. Sad is when you are just 60 and can't even walk properly..
I see nurses with 4 years experience on You Tube saying they are burnt out. 😁 what a joke..
There is no such thing as burnt out if you find your passion in the field.
30 years RN.
I'll reduce my hours but won't retire.
Not working as a nurse though
It is a privilege's, in today aging world retiree should be given less work hour, instead of of total cut
I't Is okay
Back then you didn’t need to spend $30,000 on a degree
So what is the intention of this video? Encourage everyone to work till 80+ years old and continue to pay tax?
It's CNA...news...to share information...
Problem not many do they want you or not after certain age 😂😂😂
Ought to be practising Taichi in parks at this age rather than stressing out in hospitals. What a propanganda for the sinkies govt
Not wise of employers doing this. She will be prone to falls herself and making mistake in her work despite her yrs of experience. Looking at the way she talks with stammering speech and the shaky hands and lack of co-ordination, it would be better if she live out her yrs in retirement.

SURE OR NOT.....VOLUNTEER????????????
Propaganda but the nurse is innocent
Later turn blue huh ouch😂
Doesn't she have any grant children to take Care of?
