A beautiful piece of motorcycling history! BTH magnetos were made by a British company, British Thomas-Houston and were known as BHT and BTH. They also supplied magnetos to Rolls Royce for the Merlin engines used in Spitfires, Hurricanes and Lancaster bombers during WW2. The sprung rear hubs weren't that popular back in the day as they were heavy, complicated and when the springs wore caused erratic handling. They were replaced in 1954 by telescopic dampers. 🇬🇧
Close.. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON were in Rugby , England . If you Google Map 'British Thomson Houston Company War Memorial' and look around you will see part of one of their buildings still standing. A lot have been demolished. I have never heard of the mags being called BHTonly BTH. Some riders and mechanics reckoned the BTH to be superior to a Lucas Mag. Cheers. Dave .New Zealand.
Sweet motorcycle and great onboard video. Take a little more time in between those gear changes with very definite clutch but more so gear box changes and you’ll be fine. Those gearbox’s also don’t like gearing down to hard in the rev range She’s an old girl, you gotta be gentle with those old bones 😂✌🏼
My Dad had the very same bike in Sri Lanka. He was a salesman and rode all over the Island and never missed a beat. Was very reliable.
Amazing! Thanks!
Fantastic glimpse into the past.
Glad you enjoyed it

Really an interesting motorcycle. The handling was definitely unique I'm guessing in part because of that hub. Interesting about the mags. Thank you

I have a similar 1948 t100 tiger, currently rebuilding it. It’s a beautiful machine!
You're a lucky biker. These bikes are art!
@@classicbritishbikesupersto2247 I’m blessed to find this gem!

Love these old bones :-)
The seat name is pronounced Lie-Set . They also made bicycle seats. Based in Southern England. Company went bust a few years ago.
Thanks! I'm terrible with these things. Wahoo!
