When I was about 14/15 I used to bike from Alvingham to Manby to my mates ( His Dad was a squadron Leader at Manby) then we,d bike to Theddle thorpe and try to get bits off it. I did get a track jockey wheel off and managed to carry it up to the dunes intending to collect it another day but never did, too bloody heavy. It was then painted white (ish) and had the armour, turret and gun. The barrel was blocked. She was half full of sand so you couldn't get in the drivers position but could just about in the turret. There were shell racks around the inside . Outside was littered with pieces of blue plastic from what may friend said were blue flash rockets. I remember him finding one that was barely damaged and cannibalising other debris to make a good one to take home. Would have been about 70/71. how the hell has the gun and turret and armour been moved ?.
Visited the tank on 15th September on a break in Lincolnshire
