Keefe, who’s had them all his life, is pretty tuned in to know exactly what do to comfort someone who’s venting over parental issues. Also, Fitz… he was brainwashed to believe that matchmaking was the only way. Keefe, other than seeing one of the worst sides of it, and absolutely loathing it, Lord Cassius is after status. And Keefe’s goal in life is to piss him off. So, what would be a better way than getting with an Unmatchable? All that Fitz knew that all matches, even bad matches, are happy. And Sophie, who believes matchmaking is basically arranged marriage with a bit of dating around (which is true), doesn’t agree with it. Keefe has abusive parents, put together by matchmaking, one of them status-driven, and one of them lying to him his entire life. Of course he sees the flaws of it. So, Keefe, who knows about issues with parents and the flaws of the matchmaking system, was definitely a better person to go than Fitz, because he sees happiness. Never lived through issues with his parents. Keefe sees happiness with families like the Vackers and the Dizznees, but also the flaws of matchmaking and because of his situation, understands Sophie’s issues with Oralie on a deeper level than just, “Sorry”, which would’ve served to making Sophie feel worse. Sophitz was a bad couple in Legacy due to their experience difference at that point, but it would’ve been a good couple after everything was sorted out. And by “deeper”, I mean that Keefe has experienced Sophie’s problems already. I think, at that time, Keefe would be a better person for Sophie to date, but not when they’re over this mess.
I'm really glad that you uploaded this Joey and Troy, so THANK YOU! I didn't get this excerpt with my book, so this is a real eye-opener - this makes Fitz more likeable especially considering I'm not exactly on terms with him because of his behaviour in Legacy - One thing, I noticed was that Biana UNDERSTOOD that it wouldn't work out!(the 'she looked sad') Fitz was sweet and goofy in this(more like the Fitz I had known in the starting books!) but at the end paragraphs(the "voluntarily a bad match" one) he sounded more like the jerk I have been accustomed to from Legacy. So...I guess this is a prelude to their breakup that's surely gonna come in the 9th book. Sorry for the super long comment but anyway thanks for the video!

Ok - Hot take. I honestly don’t despise Fitz, which should sound normal to say. So many people while going through the books have a mindset where they forget the pervious book and are only narrowly focused on what’s going on in the moment. For instance so many keepers hate Fitz now, which I find really sad, he’s really not a bad guy, he just had some bad opinions. He definitely messed up and definitely has anger issues, but I really do think he’s improving. Honestly if Keefe weren’t a part of the story I might still be a fitzphie shipper (but let’s be honest Keefe needs her) Fitz just had his fair share of bad moments, but inside he’s still the first elf friend Sophie made, and the first elf she trusted. I really think that’s a beautiful thing and should be valued. 💞 Also about Biana- I think there has been so much focus on the love triangle that Sophie hasn’t really had any girl friends, which is disappointing to me because (as Biana mentions) Biana’s best friend is Sophie, and I think Sophie can get so caught up in boys and being the leader that she unintentionally pushed away her other friends. ☹️ All of this to say, this is just my opinion and I still love and hold dear all the KOTLC characters. 🥰

I like that Fitz is a bit selfish, most teens are. Just because he doesn't automatically think about others, doesn't make him bad, or Sophitz bad. Also by arrogant I 100% disagree. I don't think FItz is arrogant at all. I think he believes he's the weak one. His telepathy is good, but not as good as Sophie so why should he even be there. It makes sense that he says "But we're Cognates" Because he doesn't want to seem useless. Growing up I was like this. I thought I was really dumb even though I got really good grades and I was one of the 'smart kids'. All I looked at was that one class I wasn't advanced in, or that one A-.

I’m not saying Fitzphie isn’t a great ship- buuuuut Keefe and Sophie can relate more; they both aren’t exactly normal. They’re both broken and hurt. Keefe seemed to already like Sophie- and then Fitz jumped in, starting to like Sophie if he didn’t before. I think Sophie fits more with Keefe... Just my opinion :’)

I’m not saying Fitzphie isn’t a great ship- buuuuut Keefe and Sophie can relate more; they both aren’t exactly normal. They’re both broken and hurt. Keefe seemed to already like Sophie- and then Fitz jumped in, starting to like Sophie if he didn’t before.
I think Sophie fits more with Keefe... Just my opinion :’)
Omg yes!!!!!!! This is exactly the reasoning we have, they are meant for each other. Deep down, they know they need each other, to fix all those inner cracks inside of them. Sophie doesn’t need Fitz, she will most likely break even more from him, she needs KEEFE. 🙌🙏❤️👍
