Everytime i hear the word "kidz bop" i think of their version of we belong together (especially the attempt to hit the high note) and i start laughing uncontrollably 😂

As a kid i was like, i dont care about this love stuff. I wanted to listen to music about videogames and pizza. Changing lyrics doesn't change the fact that the songs here feel adult. I knew what that breakup song or searching for meaning song was about, but i didn't understand it.
I still can’t over the fact that need to make even cleaner versions of the already-clean ones. 😂
Yeah I remember listening to sweet dreamsby beyonce from them but realized there's nothing inappropriate about it

I remember when McDonald’s gave out Kidz Bop CDs along with Happy Meals and to this day I still can’t stand their Big Girls Don’t Cry cover😭
I remember those! I specifically remember listening to their cover of life is a Highway
In the 80’s we didn’t have Kidz Bop. Instead we have Chimpmonk cover albums, or Disney cover albums. I was embarrassingly old when I learned that “Whip It” was by a band called Devo, not by Alvin.
Brooo I was born in 2002 and my first time hearing Heaven is A Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle was the Alvin and the Chipmunks cover 😭 I loved the 2D animated movies as a kid, the 3D ones came out when I was little but they're truly unbearable
Even as a kid, I never really got into kidz bop lol
I just listened to the og songs even tho I knew they were inappropriate for me lol

I doubt any kids were genuinely thinking "I actually prefer kids bop over Britney Spears" lmaoo
@@MonM.-hj6mn The kids with strict parents weren't listening to secular music AT ALL 😅
@7:10 I REFUSE believe they did this🤣🤣🤣🤣 They could’ve just finished the chorus without it instead of making that kid do that - then keeping it on the track.😩🤣😭
it was only created as a result of all the moral panic parents create over "explicit music" acting like swearing and sexual innuendos are somehow a crime against humanity
The old cover version of We belong together from Kidz bop is extremely... questionable, according to that clearly voice crack at the outro part
Maybe they were going for authenticness because they're tweens? Just kidding, I don't know
In the same vein as this, I hate when the song I Want Candy is used in kids movies as if it's literally about candy when it's so clearly not
Not this being the way I find out that song isn’t about actual candy 😢
Funny how I discovered Kidz Bop covered Good Luck, Babe!by Chappell Roan right before I saw this. The chorus is the clunkiest change, but the bridge is probably the most unintentionally funny bc it’s changed from lamenting being a man’s wife to existential dread .
“When you wake up in your bed in the middle of the night
With your head in your hands, with nothing more in this life“
My first thought was that this sounded like the beginnings of suicidal ideation.
The note at the end of the we belong together cover 💀
The Kidz bop version of Montero by Lil Nas x will forever haunt my dreams
My thing is why tf is that song even on a Kidz Bop album?! Out of any song? How did they even get that song approved?!
The way that they change lyrics to phrases that don't even make grammatical or semantic sense, how's that good for kids?
they made born this way a christian song 😭😭
I’ve always thought that Kidz Bops was made specifically for super religious families and religious places that want to play “cool” music so them taking the sexuality references out doesn’t shock me at all. But I am Team Just make original music for the children
I was obsessed with Kidz bop when I was kid, and I even went to one of their concerts. When I was like 13, I randomly remembered that Ross Lynch was a Kidz Bop kid and completely fell down a rabbit hole where I watched all of the old commercials and studied every celebrity that was ever in Kidz Bop. Also I had kind a crush on Ross Lynch at the time too and knowing he was a part of something I used to be so interested in just made it more real for me.
My mom used to buy me Kidz Bop and the Now cds. I never knew they had music videos though!
Not you dedicating a video on Kidz Bop because of what I said 😭 But seriously, the fact they're still in business just doesn't make sense since kids are already brainrotted on TikTok (or TH-cam) with easily viewable and searchable uncensored songs/sound. Regardless, with all the views they got, I hope the Kidz Bop kids got paid well.
@@Greybell lolll this wasn’t shade!! Someone else commented I should talk about Kidz Bop bc of my reaction to your comment, so thank u! Seriously, you’re always so insightful

I would honestly feel so mad as an artist if someone took my art and changed it to fit a different demographic. I didn’t make it for that audience so it doesn’t need to be consumed by that audience.
As a kid, I hated Kidz bop because I felt like I was being cheated out of real music 😂
19:25 the frosting is still being licked 💀
I've been hearing recently that kidz bop did a cover of Good Luck, Babe and changed the lyrics completely. They did a similar thing with what they did with Born this Way and Call Me By Your Name where they remove the references to queerness, and that just feels so wrong. Like queer kids exist, and I think removing those aspects completely from a song isn't good
be careful saying "queer kids exist" or else homophobes would take it the wrong way
I did actually see the first UK Kidz Bop lineup at a festival a few years ago. Weird lyric changes aside they were actually pretty good singers and I really enjoyed their performance.
To me, it’s just a cheap cash grab, and it’s taking advantage of parents laziness. Everything needs to be sanitized and edited because parents don’t want to have hard conversations with their kids. I understand, sometimes they’re too young to understand things. But if you’re a parent, talk to your kid. Don’t shelter them from everything. When you do that, they just grow up and go buck wild, the minute they get some freedom. I understand wanting to protect your kids, and not ruin them at a young age. But it doesn’t hurt to talk them.
Kidz Bop is SO inconsistent and hilarious. Some songs they don't change a single lyric to, so it's like what's the point. And then there are songs that change line after line to the point that it isn't the same song anymore, so it's like why bother covering it at all. Some songs censor words like "baby" and others don't. How do you censor "lean all in my bladder" but then not change the next line "cheated on my baby"? 😂
I remember how huge Kidz Bop was as a kid and I had a love-hate relationship with it as I had some of their CDs. In fact, I’m pitching a TV series about the history of Kidz Bop.
@@kamsismith that would be interesting!! And yes tho I didn’t listen much personally, it was inescapable at school events/ birthday parties/ other friends’ cars etc
So from the USA Today article; only two of those kids are still with kidzbop. One of the boys left I think for school and one of the girls had to leave due to a medical issue with her mom.
this played directly after another video so i listened to your into and decided to keep watching. i did not expect to learn a piece of fall out boy history today haha (they are my favorite band) anyway! great video and a great point!!
It felt very nostalgiac when I used to watch every Kidz Bop commercial on Nickelodeon since I was 4 or 5. The very first Kidz Bop commercial I watched was the one with "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus as one of their tracks back in 2009.
I'm apart of the first introduction to pop music camp. I had way too many of these as a kid, and I found some of the most nostalgic songs for me from them.
20:23 …you should hear the Glee version. I actually kinda prefer it. They changed it to a kind of campfire guitar vibe, and it done by one woman and two men. Ironically one of the male characters singing it was ALSO supposed to be the Christian character.
The kids vocals just can’t compare to adult vocals and i think that’s one of the main reasons why people don’t like them…
I never liked kids bop even as a kid 😂 I would think why would I want to listen to kids singing and not the real person? I just thought the whole thing was stupid and still do.
My parents let me listen to anything (they are from the Caribbean soo if you knw anything abt our music it typically not “kid friendly” 😅) my parents philosophy is that the kids dnt knw what the songs mean they just like the beat. Which is true! Kids learns things are bad when adults tell them it’s bad.
My mom who is a teacher and specializes in early childhood education, she always says just tell kids not to say the cuss words and they will be fine and she’s right!
Like look at how many adults who are just now realizing so many songs are about smex and they are in their 20-50s 😂
Songs cause no harm to children’s, it’s these purity obsessed parents trying to “save” their children from the “cruel” doing the harm to their kids. Those kids grow up to be naive, immature, self conscious, adults who are not ready for the world and annoying to work with.
Just let your kids listen to music at most the censored versions. Nothing bad is gonna happen to them because they are singing Meg thee stallion or Chappell roan 🙄
Same! Trinidadian here and I used to listen to all kinds of music without even realizing until now how inappropriate many of them were 😂
Tell me about it. I was in my early 20s when I found out Billie Jean was about sex. That blew my mind. Kids don't listen to the lyrics.
I was just thinking the other day about whether anyone actually enjoyed KidzBop, like did anyone care about the fact that it was other kids singing the songs or did they just listen to it because it was the only version their parents would allow?
"my kids can't hear, they're listening to KiDz bOp"
The cover of Blvd of Broken Dreams is so funny
I know we all have our least favorite Kidz Bop covers but can I recommend my favorite: the cover of Bad Day by Daniel Powter! Idk who’s idea it was for the kids to be whooping and cheering in the background of a song called BAD DAY but it’s so funny and it made my mom and I crack up every time we heard it. Go listen to it (you’re welcome for the laugh)
I work at a hotel and Kidz Bop stayed at my hotel while they were on tour one time lmfao
OH BABY BABY WE BELONG TOGETHAAAAUAUAUAUA-AGH
We watch kidz bop with my kids on the spectrum all the time ! So you know I need to hear the tea ! Love you girl ❤️
I used to love the kidz bop and the original versions. Even though I had heard originals since i heard the kids versions more I'd remember the clean versions more. Sometimes I hear the originals and wonder how i know them. Then i remember the kidz bob versions
In my opinion,
kidz bop is like a relic of a forgotten era, and is something we don't really need anymore.
When I was a kid, I got a Kidz Bop CD from a Happy Meal and it had Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston. And for many years, I really thought it went “in denial” lol
Honestly, I used to get the kidz bop cds for Christmas from ages 4-7 and I liked them so I probably had a more positive view of kidz bop bc I thought it was a good way to know what songs are popular and enjoy them while not being exposed to all of the “explicit” aspects, but looking back when I would listen to non kidz bop songs I still didn’t pick up on the mature aspects anyways so the censorship was probably not necessary
I always HATED kidz bop and mini pop kids (Canada's version of kidz bop lol) the changing of the lyrics are always so terrible lol
Kidz Bop just makes me laugh.
my parents are conservative mormons but even they thought these were lame 😂
I loved kids bop as a kid! My niece and nephew jam to the KB cover of “Whoop There It Is”, they go crazyyy.
Strict parents and karens would love to listen kidz bop songs for their kids.
I always remember my moms' very Christian friend was absolutely mortified that I was listening to Candy Shop by 50 Cent. And my mom said "She doesn't understand a thing." And so my mom was like "Do you know what it's about?" And i said "Getting candy at Walmart." So yeah, she was fine with me listening to whatever I wanted. LOL
When i was younger i wanted a kidz bop album, but my mom couldn't find it so she just gave me the "That's what i call music" album of that year which had anaconda by nick minaj on it LOL
just remember they made Not My Fault half the length and cut out an entire (iconic) verse and Megan Thee Stallion’s entire (like minute long) bridge
You need to see the lyric changes on their good luck babe cover that just dropped 💀
They stumbled across the idea to remake pop songs for kids in 2001, hm? Not sure what to think of that, considering the smurfs have been doing that in Europe since the 80s, which makes more sense. They are most successful in Germany and the Netherlands because the songs are also translated and it was much more interesting to hear music with lyrics you can understand as a child
I'm glad Kikz Bop didn't exist when I was a kid. My mom for sure would have made us listen to those versions. The artistry just isn't there in those sanitized versions.
Ok hearing that Marey Carey cover had me dying of laughter!🤣
My first concert experience was at a dive bar, I saw Fuel. It was a great time!
I hate that the songs are often left in a context that is still somewhat sexual or inappropriate. I work with kids and my boss told me that Kidz Bop isn't a guarantee for appropriate music and it is very true. It sucks that it is marketed towards kids when there is still content not meant for them. I hate having to turn down requests for Kidz Bop versions of songs, because kids ask why and I can't give them a good answer that doesn't involve saying "it is inappropriate". The kids don"t view that as an acceptable reason because they are always told that Kidz Bop is appropriate. It is frustrating as a person that works with kids that Kidz Bop is not fully appropriate.
One of the kids bop from the 2010 replace one of the band members from mindless behavior in the year 2014 2:53
i never really why they made a kids bop version of my love mine all mine
hey, at least it's not "Liquid Smooth," "I Bet On Losing Dogs," or "A Bug."
If Kidz Bop has writers to censor lyrics from the original songs, why can’t they can write their own original music? They don’t need to cover songs that kids shouldn’t be singing.
even if children were singing actual explicit song lyrics there's nothing wrong with that

I never had any interest in kidz bop when I was a kid I'd rather just listen to the original versions of the songs
Rocky Horror on Glee had similar problems. They sang sensational instead of transsexual, but kept transvestite in. There are FAR more people still using the word transsexual than transvestite. So they censored a gender identity but kept in the fetish. Very strange choice.
Yet they covered "Greased Lightning" with barely any changes. From what I can remember.
I used to own the first 10 or so Kidz Bop CDs. When I was a kid it felt like a "child friendly" way to engage in pop culture. Then I grew out of it around the time Hannah Montana premiered and that was my "tween friendly" music.

@naomi.cannibal what are you’re thoughts on Boys World’s disbandment? I thought they were really promising and bound to eventually fill the western girl group void. It seems like the label couldn’t afford to keep them afloat but the girls didn’t want to break up. I wish they would stay together and find another label, I’ve also always said their name is one of their biggest downfalls so I’m not against a rebrand.
I was actually very bad @ understanding the subtext of lyrics when I was young. I genuinely did not care about celebrating inappropriate media. I get I’m a unique case, but yknow, I feel that listening 2 covertly adult songs isn’t harmful.
I totally agree that hearing a kid sing these songs is more problematic bc it normalises adolescents promoting an adult form of hedonism. But i simply don’t like adult’s enraged reaction 2 “adultish” things bc kids don’t understand it & that means these adult ideas r being imposed on them. As long as kids don’t regurgitate it. Y’know, I don’t think any1 should hear 9-14 yr olds say these things & I also don’t like the way they’re reprimanded.
All I can think of is "my kids are listening to kidz bop"
I’m surprised there isn’t more youth media now. Music has gotten more overtly adult recently & there isn’t a concerted care in what else 2 give them. I think most kids r interacting with very unregulated things - sometimes harmful. Kids now having mr beast instead of stampylonghead scares me.
I would like kids bop 2 respect their artistry more. I think a lot of these songs being meaningful 4 children would b impactful. If montero (cmbyn) kept its queer message but in a child friendly way, that would b amazing. But it’s probably controversial 2 bigots & probably a bad business move. I suppose 4 kids bop, trying & making good art is not worth the profit. They just siphon off of kids’ image.
only owned the first kidz bop cd that came with more kidz bop. tbh the first one wasnt that sanitized. didnt like their beetles covers though.
Kidz Bop songs would be so much better if they just let one or two kids cover each track.
people are so backwards minded and need to understand that music doesn't need to have an age limit
Backwards minded parents being outraged over their children listening to actual songs instead of the Kidz Bop covers creating a moral panic over "swear words" and "sexual innuendos" are not realizing that children have been listening to nursery rhymes about dark and disturbing meanings behind them for centuries music is music and there's nothing wrong with children singing songs with certain meanings behind them (people who jump to conclusions and create a moral panic over all of this are completely delusional)
