SHEA! Fricking Heroic my friend! Making a CF frame for my motion 'sim rig'.. Not as EPIC as your project though!! Your the BOSS for sure.. I built all the electronics I could too. watching all your stuff! Subscribed! Super channel! DMAX motion sim
I too have been amazed at the amount of rigidity that can be achieved with 1/8" foam sandwiched between layers of glass. Some builders coat their buck with several layers of latex paint and then a release agent to reduce the amount of foam adherence to the layup. The test part looks likes your plan will be super strong, well done sir.
TH-cam buries my videos a lot. My wife doesn't get notifications sometimes. I really don't understand youtube. I guess I'm playing the algorithms wrong
Nice rolled edges on your ribs or bracing, as you have found out the cloth will not bend and at 90 degrees you can also have a lot smaller ribs to add the strength i have put in 10mm x 10mm wide cut lengths of foam or even cardboard for some of my moulds just to give extra rigidity, as I found it is the cloth in that rolled shape that gives the strength not to foam, I have not used carbon only epoxy and glass cloth, have fun and best of luck my friend , looking forward to more videos
Looks like you're on track for a winner! Did you come up with any ideas you could use to do it in vacuum bag sized sections? I too enjoyed reading the comments on the last video. So much support and no nonsense comments.
I did, but they all just seemed a bit risky. I was told that vacuum over a Styrofoam buck can see time lead to deformation. It would require making a mold
If U use strips at 45 angle then another straight you will be amazed at the strength, _ / _ \ _ there is also plastic honeycomb sheets we used to use for strength without more weight. My carbon sensei & I made the Lightest Corvette hood in the industry like that, but U could stand on it. ⚡️🏍
I can't find an affordable plastic honeycomb anywhere. I went with the foam instead. If I understand you correctly, I think I am making that layup. Works amazing!
Scooter Don !
Keep getting it dude. Psyched to see it

I am having tons of fun and I really appreciate all the great feedback. I'm feeling much more confident about the body construction!

Ohh, and be careful about letting your buddy chew on that cause if U don’t sand the edge it will slice the inside of his mouth... can be very sharp.

That looks so jank, but if it works it works
Hahaha, it's a bit messy but it doing its job
