no good food places, I'm not much of a foodie so I don't typically find good spots lol just food to keep me going!

Same thing happened to me and my first trip to dc back in November, lots of construction!

Went to DC a few years back with my wife as part of a trip also to New York, we found it much cleaner than other US cities we've been too (we are from UK), the parks and museums are great value to relax and spend the day. By the way your hair is seeming more natural Sarah.
By the way, random story but your VLOG brought back a memory, I used the public toilet near the monument, inside was this huge bag of skunk/marijuana, it's not my thing but someone must have left it and I'd imagine it had a good value
