    Glad to see a review,even a shirt one for the new hybrid and its new engine and gearbox.Glad to see the Vitara is still chuckable and the new engine sounds just like the 1.6l when you rev it🙂.Still Suzuki is movomg with dualjet engines in all their new cars these days. They released 3 models in the past few months(not in Europe cause ,reasons🤷) and they are all dualjet in various displacements. The torque maybe down from thier previous iterations but they perform just as well and the fuel savings are up especially when paired with the AGS or even a torque converter.

      Pleased you enjoyed it and cross fingers I can get hold of 1 for more than 20 minutes in the coming months. Not seen many reviews of this car either which sort of shows how difficult it is too get hold of them at the minute

    'Better for the environment' , I'll take that slogan seriously when F1 stops burning thousands of litres of fuel per race. And aviation fuel is not a thing. 🤣

      You are correct , cars only account for 1.5% of all emissions (F1 cars are very efficient but it’s the transportation which is the issue) as you said aviation fuel , shipping and industry

    Don't get sunroof if you're over six foot!
    Still looks a bit dated outside (and the horrible protruding rear light clusters) and inside infotainment not top notch and dated analogue dials.
    Still a niche product and won't trouble it's competitors in this category!

    It’s not the first “hybrid” Vitara. They have had the 1.4 hybrid for a couple of years. It’s not a full hybrid, but still it was a good start. I have one and love it.

      The previous models (certainly the UK so not sure about the rest of the world) we’re hybrid assist so only worked pulling away from a stop and coming to a stop. I am sure you are aware this is a self charging hybrid so the I would guess the fundamentals are still the same (giving the petrol motor a boost when required) not long before only BEVs are aloud so hopefully we will see something in the next 1-2 years

    Dost seem like much of a hybrid compared to a Toyota hybrid

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s there 1st hybrid vehicle actually made by them rather than by Toyota on there behalf

    Neat car..The lack of rear headroom is due to the sunroof. I had a Vitara S and no sunroof. Will there be a full EV version soon do you think?

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the 1st hybrid so I would not expect anything in the next year and guessing they will roll out this setup into the other cars removing the 1.4 booster jet and adding the 1.5. I’m not an automotive engineer but building a full EV takes a lot of money and development time. Wondering if Toyota will rebadge there new EV as a Suzuki again. Sorry no real answer there just a bit of guess work but exciting times ahead

      Suzuki is working on a full ev in conjunction with Toyota(the baleno,ertiga and vitara brezza are really paying dividends for them)that isnt slated until 2024 i think

    Would you go as far as to say the gearbox is a dealbreaker? Thank you.

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a little bit lazy at times but generally works ok but not as good as the current auto. Really need to drive the car for longer in the real world to find out how much of a difference it makes. I am not sure it’s a dealbreaker mind you

    Sorry, what?! £40k you said near the start?! That can't be right! Suzuki's website shows that the SZ5 allgrip full hybrid goes for £29,299. And btw Toyota badge up some of Suzuki's cheaper models (such as the Baleno as the Glanza) in Eastern markets like India not the middle east

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price was on a bit of paper in the car from Suzuki so not sure what I can say. My mistake on the region as I knew it was India so not sure why I said Middle East lol

      Toyota sell the Vitara as the urban cruiser in some markets.

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really , that’s intreating 😊, makes sense swapping cars that you do not sell normally in that area. Sure it happens a lot

    • @Rapscallion2009
      @Rapscallion2009 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DamoDrives that's the weird thing. They do sell the Vitara (as the brezza) in those same markets.
      Like you can buy a corolla or swace in that UK.

      A very good point, maybe as a brand it does not feel it is actually a competitor

    The 1500 cc engine is already in the Jimny so not new. Just go for the 1400 turbo automatic. The one i drive.

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That engine is being discontinued in the vitara and replaced with the 1.5 hybrid) speaking with Suzuki it’s not exactly the same engine as the Jimny but surprised they did not use the boosterJet 1.4 and add the hybrid to that rather than the mild hybrid unit already fitted

    • @Coordinator61
      @Coordinator61 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DamoDrives Thanks, i drove the new 1500 hybrid but i will stay with my 1400 boosterjet non hybrid. That gearbox is so much different then my hydraulic smooth 6 speed automatic. Plus my vitara is really good on expensive fuel. I did several long trips with 100-120 km/hr and getting 5.3 l/100 km. No need for the hybrid. Plus lots of torque.

    • @Coordinator61
      @Coordinator61 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Smokeysbandit They have to do this for emisions. I allready got 18.5 km on a litre so very low fuel consumption.

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember with the MPG this car has been driven by journalists around a test track so I would think hard and not how you would drive it in the real world. Most of these changes to the mild and full hybrid is to bring average emissions down due to regulations

    • @Coordinator61

      @@DamoDrives Car journalists go pedal to the metal all the time indeed. I like the torque on the 1400 turbo.
