As a LONG TIME fan i kinda gotta be honest. In tue nicest way possible this album feels terribly mediocre. From a production stand point, i feel like we took a step backwards. If you listen to previous albums, the sound is crisp clear and punchy, this albums sounds dark muffeld, poorly mixed and un mastered. From a lyrical standpoint, i feel like all creativeness in imagery and word play we are use to hearing in previous albums simply doesnt exist in this album. The lyrics feel a bit too "literal" and dont really laint a mental picture for me the way that Babylon or White Flag do. Next from a melody stand point i feel as if alot of the vocal melodies and hooks just arnt as strong as before. A lot of the melodies in this album feel like run on sentences that just dont go anywhere. With the exception of a few songs like Blood in the water, Flowers for the grave, and Serotonin, there arnt really and hooks that got stuck in my head. Moving on to the producer side of things, again i feel like the creativity is lacking. If you listen to theor previous album, the production is insaine! It was i tesly creative as they fused together synths vocals and live instruments. Each instrument/synth/vocal had a very distinct part that was catchy unique and creative. This albums production just feels very safe straight forward and kinda generic. Lastly ...... the drums. Im a drummer by trade and the thing i love the most about normandie is their drum parts. They never have been a straight forward, play the 2/4 groove with an open hihat kind of band. All of their previous albums had amazingly unique drum parts that really elevated the sound of the song. This album just feels so "safe" and "vanilla" when it comes to the drums. All of that to say im supper happy for these guys and i know they put a lot of hard work and effort into this album. Its just not for me. Im still a fan and cant wait to see them live later this year. But i hope in their next album they get back to being unique and creative instead of trying to sound like every other rock band that exists already.
@@sweetbeats334 Absolutely agree. For me, my biggest gripe about this album are the vocal melodies that simply aren’t as good as usual. Maybe one day, years down the line, Philip will do an interview and talk about how this album wasn’t up to scratch in hindsight.
@Ralexxanderr I mean for me I do prefer their other albums but this one could very well grow on me. I am in love with the songs Serotonin, Hourglass and Ritual from this album though.
Congratulations for an amazing album!! Loving all the songs

This album is by far the worst Normandie album so far. But there are a few good ones on here. Great band overall.
i think "butterflies" just ruined this album... its still good, but 1 track makes an album worther, than it have to be...

Hard agree. Very samey. Glue and Sorry are the only stand out ones for me.

OMG! That's awful! It's going to be an amazing album! But albums "Wight flag" and "inguz" still better🙃. I love you guys)
