An "old school" hand on, totally manual approach and landing. The focus exhibited by the pilot was so thick you could cut it. Love the sharp and deliberate movements of the yolk. This is called skill. Love the video.

My Pops used to fly 727's and I even got to ride up front with him a couple of times when I was a kid.
    I miss my Pops.

    Triggered by your description data...
Flew the 727-200 for 10 years (1978-1988)with Olympic Airways.
We had 6 units since 68-69, one of which, SX-CBF, (N7270L)was the prototype -200 mentioned above!
It was full of patched test holes along the fuselage , its zero fuel weight was 600kgs heavier (62,220kgs) than the other 5 normal production units(61,689kgs), also the cockpit layout switches were different.
We operated with JT8-9Dengines (14,600lbs thrust),and our max. take of weight was 78,220kgs....
Underpowered if you ask me ,but stil a versatile and lovely aircraft to fly....
Speed schedules for short , intermediate level flights were 300 or 350 knots! unlike other Boeings......
Made a record time once flying Athens to Santorini island, in 17 minutes!
Thanks for the upload , thanks for making me remember my youth.....(22 when i started flying it) :)

I have a lot of admiration and respect for the pilots of that time. It is necessary to understand how difficult it was to fly passenger jets, at the same speed as today's airplanes, without the aid of computers from current airplanes, which even have automatic navigation and automatic landing resources. This landing on the huge B727, totally done in the do-it-yourself style is something that only few ones can perform properly.

I’m a GA pilot IRL so the following nerdery isn’t only confined to my computer screen. I have a special love for the 727-100…my favorite x-plane model was a 721 and I flew that thing back and forth from Los Angeles to Las Vegas more times than I can count. Any flight sim enthusiast out there…that’s a great route. It’s short but it gets you up to altitude and you can use ANY airplane from a Cessna 152 to the AN225. Plus, the flight plans, departures and approaches in modern sims are really good. I don’t know if they’re *totally* accurate to the real world but they get you around the mountains, no problemo

I am not a pilot who flies planes or a armchair pilot who knows all so it really surprised me how many corrections have to be made when flying and the slow response the aircraft gives . You must have to anticipate and react before the plane does.
