Before watching this video i have lots query with this topic 😕😕😖but after watching your explanation in video my 99% query are get resolved 😊😊😊 Thank you so much breslyn sir
Hi Dr B, thank you for the explanation. I got a question on this asking me to balance S2O3 2- ------> S4O6 2-. The answer said that the S was 4+ for S4O6 2- but I couldn't find out why.. I was always getting 5+ and so when I'd balance my e- was always 2.5 e- but in the answer, the balancing was 2e- which indicated that S was 4+. (The answer was 2S2O32- -----> S4O62- + 2e)
I can't seem to find anything in my text book about hydrogen being -1 with boron. Do you have a source on this or at least some where I can double check this?
This might have some info (long link below). H usually is 1- when bonded to metals. So B is a nonmetal so not so clear-cut. And some boron hydrides have some odd bonding to make it more confusing. www.sciencedirect.com/topics/chemistry/boron-hydride#:~:text=The%20four%20terminal%20hydrogen%20atoms,electrons%20bonds%20three%20atoms%20covalently.
Thanks, Dr. B. Sir. My curiosity has been completely resolved. Thank you for the clear and accurate explanation.
You are most welcome!
Thanks, Dr. B. Sir how did you take the oxidation numbers for the two central Sulfur atoms as 0?
The same element is combined on both sides.
Hi, this video is very helpful, so if I were to write oxidation numbers for the equation would I write +5 for Sulfur?
Depends which sulfur you are talking about. But the average across the four Sulfur atoms is 10/4 or 5/2 or 2.5.

Would you please be kind and let me know how I may make the Lewis structure of this chemical specie? It feels a wee but challenging!
Thanks dr.b I needed this video since there was a question about this ion and I didn’t know about the Lewis structure
Thanks ! ❤️🌹🙏
Happy to help!

My mistake, I think i meant to say 2 not 4 when calculating, I got mixed up between the video and the workbook, apologies
Sir x- 2(3)=-1 kaise aaya
