I felt so down when Sayori ended her life in a MOST TRAGIC and DEPRESSIVE scene and we are just here in the screen... Watching... I got attached to DDLC than other horror games combined. They don't just scare you... You get attached with the character too. Which makes it more disturbing in a way that people CAN possibly relate at some point. The game haunted me... Even a long time has passed, I still can't get over it... It changed my view towards the people I interact on. It made me sensitive to their emotion because I don't want the Rain Clouds that Sayori felt. I wan't them to feel happy when they are with me. Just like Sayori does

Imagine sitting in your room home alone at 2:00 am, no lights. You hear this playing and you see the silhouette of Sayori hanging, neck snapping violently, and you see the silhouette approaching. Terrifying.
in fact she didn't die with a broken neck, it was a choke, Monika says in the game that she had a very slow and painful death because she wasn't in a place high enough for her neck to break instantly.. so yes that just makes things sadder and more disturbing. poor sayori :(
What about 3:00 am, no lights no one awake exept you, you see a glowing blue eye starring at you and smiles with open mouth, blood came out from the mouth and then a hanging girl is starring at you, you turn on the light, shes gone, you turn off the light, shes back. You hear a creepy distorted glitchy voice. What about that?
When i played Doki Doki for the first time and got to this, it was 2AM, and i was in a friend of my dad's house because my family was in a new year's trip (2017 - 2018). So, i was thinking she would kill me (specially because i rejected her to be with Natsuki...), and then i saw her "hanging"... damn my heart was pulsing faster then never playing a game. I was playing in my phone, in a 100% dark living room that i was not familiar with, in the ground. I genually closed the game and went to sleep. It took like an hour to sleep tho. It took a few days to see what happens next...

I can’t lie, First time I watched a play through of this game, Sayori kinda grew on me. Her personality was just the best out of the four. So as expected, I cried when she died. I closed the tab immediately and had a breakdown.
What bothered me the most is that you never get an ending with harmony. Delete Monika? You don’t save the others. Sayori does the work this time. It feels that no matter what you do, Sayori isn’t a choice. And I hate that so damn much. I swear I’m naming my kid Sayori just because of my PTSD

sayori was a character who i strongly related to. i know what it feels like to be depressed but hiding it from everyone because i dont wanna be a liability
I think the thing that made Sayori’s death hurt me more than anything is the level to which I relate to her. The scene a while beforehand where she explained her depression is what really cemented that. Literally everything she mentions with her depression is something that I’ve also felt. Hell, I still feel that way a lot. The way it affects her, the way she bases her self worth on what she can do for others, the way she hides behind that happy facade. That’s all something I’ve done my entire life. I saw myself in her. And then I gently opened the door. It ripped my heart out.

Hey don't worry, did you know that there is a happy ending for this game! Yep that's right you can have an ending where everybody is happy :D all you have to do is unlock all of the cutscenes for each character before act 1! It might seem like a lot of work but if you make use of the save and load mechanic you'll get it done in no time!

I put this in an alarm clock app hidden in the phone of a friend of mine who got scared by doki doki, it's cool he's wondering why his phone rings this out of nowhere in a dark room like 1:00AM
In all seriousness, this game helped me through a lot. I could escape life and be able to understand each point of view of each of the girls. At first, this game really triggered me. But the more I learned about it the more I understood why it was made. I could relate to each character and put myself in their shoes. Thank you for making an amazing game Dan Salvato.
i made a story about this Sayori wasn’t at the club today. She was home for the whole time. You ask Monika where she has left off to. Monika answers, “Heaven.” You get shocked for a little while. “Funny joke.” you say. Monika shakes her head and walks away. You’re bored so you decide to leave club early and check on Sayori to see if she’s doing okay. You go to the street and see her house, and knock on the door. “Sayori, you there?!” you scream. After 5 times lifting your voice and no response, you bust open the door and look for where she is. In the room? You go into her room, and gently open the door, then... She’s there. Sitting, with a noose in her hands, about to choke herself to death. You say, “Sayori. What the hell is this ..?” Sayori has always told you about her problems. But you never knew she could have taken it this far. “N-no! This.. This was a prank. To scare you.” she responds. You shake your head and try to do the same thing as Monika did. Sayori grabs your arm, and says, “.. i can explain this.” She explains everything and all the tragedy that happened and the world.. becoming unrealistic, and not something you want to live in and it’s unfair. Some choices are only good for you and not for others. Sayori regrets what she did, you can see it by her expression.. She become sad and tears up. “Sayori, please don’t cry!” you say. She tries explaining, but, the tears cling her onto shutting her mouth. You exclaim that she needs to change her outfit, and take a smiling Sayori to school. If only that happened - Monika looked concerned. Concerned that Sayori should not be here. She says, “Sayori. Your collar doesn’t fit so good.” She pulls her outside of the school and walk to the home direction. Minutes after, Monika finally arrived. You go home from the club and want to visit Sayori. You bust in the door like no gentle would, and “gently” open the door again.. “What the hell is this..?” DNE

For me it was the realization and aftershock of it. I didn’t cry during the scene but after I finished watching someone play I started thinking about everything and that shit hurted (I know that’s not a word)
i knew it was coming because i had seen gameplay of it, but when i played the game for myself and the words "I gently open the door..." came up, my heart sunk. i bawled for so long, sayori is my comfort character.
i was so shocked in the moment that i couldnt cry. Afterwards for the next couple of days i couldn't sleep without thinking about that scene. and then when it finally settled in about what happened to Sayori and why it happened i cried for a long time- that shit broke my heart bro✋🏻
Why fear death? Once you are dead. You don't have to worry about anything. Nobody has to worry about you. You would vanish without a trace of life and you wouldn't feel a thing. You'd feel nothing. You could finally be at rest. Perhaps it's better off to ignore what it's like to die, but to realize that its a place that is accessable due to the sudden release of your imprisonment, it can give such a sense of relief.
imagine you have a friend that has depression, after finishing school you remembered her and decided to pay a visit. You walked to her house. You stopped and looked at her place with a suspicious face. You entered the door and saw the place is messy, you decided to clean it up. After you cleaned it up you shouted her name with no response, you started to get suspicious and then you decided to go upstairs to check it out, and entered her room. What you saw is shocking and you scream in fear, you saw her hanging with a chair that has fallen down, you calmed down and entered the room and checked her, she was already dead. You cut the rope gently to bring her down, as you bring her down you saw her face, she's pale with round big eye bags. You can tell shes suffering a lot, as you finish checking her and called 911, you waited and checked her room a bit, there were pizza, chips, soda on the floor but you ignored it. You saw her diary and decided no to open it but to keep it instead. You put it in your backpack. You've lost it and cried. As you cried you were thinking about you and her together. The police have arrived and quickly entered her house go upstairs, they saw you crying and one of them picked you up, and they looked at the body and called his brother. After that incident, you visited her grave and cried. You remembered the diary and you decided to read it. This is what it says "My brother gave this diary to me! It's so cute it has stickers and its pink too my favorite color!" "It's my bday today!! Y/n gave me a bracelet it's so cute!" "I saw my best friend y/n with a girl today... I wish it was me.." " I'm being bullied at school but at least y/n supported me!" "I think I have a crush on y/n! I'm gonna confess him on Friday!" " ????? Confess to y/n.. but I don't know if he rejected or not. I'm too scared to ask him.." " I'm bullied at school again..y/n was sick so he cants protect me... I gave them all my money..and they ruined my books.." "????? Cut my hair yesterday.. but at least it's fixed now! I like short hair! I hope y/n will love it!" "????? Told me to kill myself..and I'm ugly and worthless. People say that DDLC should be banned but honestly it really brought awareness into my life. I remember it came out when I was 11 and I watched youtubers play it and it not only helped me realize that I probably had depression but I also learned there are other people out there struggling with the same thing. There are people out there who feel just trapped and that the have to act fine and happy, and that I wasn't alone. It really brought suicide awareness into my life and helped me realize what the base of depression really is. I love ddlc and it will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️

When i played Doki Doki for the first time and got to this, it was 2AM, and i was in a friend of my dad's house because my family was in a new year's trip (2017 - 2018). So, i was thinking she would kill me (specially because i rejected her to be with Natsuki...), and then i saw her "hanging"... damn my heart was pulsing faster then never playing a game. I was playing in my phone, in a 100% dark living room that i was not familiar with, in the ground. I genually closed the game and went to sleep. It took like an hour to sleep tho. It took a few days to see what happens next...

I can’t lie,
First time I watched a play through of this game, Sayori kinda grew on me.
Her personality was just the best out of the four.
So as expected,
I cried when she died.
I closed the tab immediately and had a breakdown.
What bothered me the most is that you never get an ending with harmony.
Delete Monika? You don’t save the others. Sayori does the work this time. It feels that no matter what you do, Sayori isn’t a choice. And I hate that so damn much.

I think the thing that made Sayori’s death hurt me more than anything is the level to which I relate to her.
The scene a while beforehand where she explained her depression is what really cemented that. Literally everything she mentions with her depression is something that I’ve also felt. Hell, I still feel that way a lot. The way it affects her, the way she bases her self worth on what she can do for others, the way she hides behind that happy facade. That’s all something I’ve done my entire life.
I saw myself in her.
And then I gently opened the door.
It ripped my heart out.

Yep that's right you can have an ending where everybody is happy :D all you have to do is unlock all of the cutscenes for each character before act 1!
It might seem like a lot of work but if you make use of the save and load mechanic you'll get it done in no time!
More than a "happy end" it's a "better end" in my opinion
don't forget the "skip unseen text" and "skip after choices" settings too they help speed things up a fair bit

In all seriousness, this game helped me through a lot. I could escape life and be able to understand each point of view of each of the girls. At first, this game really triggered me. i made a story about this
Sayori wasn’t at the club today. She was home for the whole time. You ask Monika where she has left off to. Monika answers, “Heaven.” You get shocked for a little while. “Funny joke.” you say. Monika shakes her head and walks away. You’re bored so you decide to leave club early and check on Sayori to see if she’s doing okay. You go to the street and see her house, and knock on the door. “Sayori, you there?!” you scream. After 5 times lifting your voice and no response, you bust open the door and look for where she is. In the room? You go into her room, and gently open the door, then...
She’s there. Sitting, with a noose in her hands, about to choke herself to death. You say, “Sayori. What the hell is this ..?”
Sayori has always told you about her problems. But you never knew she could have taken it this far. “N-no! This.. This was a prank. To scare you.” she responds. You shake your head and try to do the same thing as Monika did. Sayori grabs your arm, and says, “.. i can explain this.”
She explains everything and all the tragedy that happened and the world.. becoming unrealistic, and not something you want to live in and it’s unfair. Some choices are only good for you and not for others.
Sayori regrets what she did, you can see it by her expression.. She become sad and tears up. “Sayori, please don’t cry!” you say. She tries explaining, but, the tears cling her onto shutting her mouth. You exclaim that she needs to change her outfit, and take a smiling Sayori to school.
If only that happened -
Monika looked concerned.
Concerned that Sayori should not be here. She says, “Sayori. Your collar doesn’t fit so good.” She pulls her outside of the school and walk to the home direction. Minutes after, Monika finally arrived.
You go home from the club and want to visit Sayori. You bust in the door like no gentle would, and “gently” open the door again..
“What the hell is this..?”

Was I the only one that literally started crying when I saw sayori hanging? No cap, I was so upset..
For me it was the realization and aftershock of it. I didn’t cry during the scene but after I finished watching someone play I started thinking about everything and that shit hurted (I know that’s not a word)
i knew it was coming because i had seen gameplay of it, but when i played the game for myself and the words "I gently open the door..." came up, my heart sunk. i bawled for so long, sayori is my comfort character.
i was so shocked in the moment that i couldnt cry. Afterwards for the next couple of days i couldn't sleep without thinking about that scene. and then when it finally settled in about what happened to Sayori and why it happened i cried for a long time- that shit broke my heart bro✋🏻

Why fear death?
Once you are dead. You don't have to worry about anything. Nobody has to worry about you.
You would vanish without a trace of life and you wouldn't feel a thing. You'd feel nothing.
You could finally be at rest.
Perhaps it's better off to ignore what it's like to die, but to realize that its a place that is accessable due to the sudden release of your imprisonment, it can give such a sense of relief.
imagine you have a friend that has depression, after finishing school you remembered her and decided to pay a visit. You walked to her house. You stopped and looked at her place with a suspicious face. You entered the door and saw the place is messy, you decided to clean it up. After you cleaned it up you shouted her name with no response, you started to get suspicious and then you decided to go upstairs to check it out, and entered her room. What you saw is shocking and you scream in fear, you saw her hanging with a chair that has fallen down, you calmed down and entered the room and checked her, she was already dead. You cut the rope gently to bring her down, as you bring her down you saw her face, she's pale with round big eye bags. You can tell shes suffering a lot, as you finish checking her and called 911, you waited and checked her room a bit, there were pizza, chips, soda on the floor but you ignored it. You saw her diary and decided no to open it but to keep it instead. You put it in your backpack. You've lost it and cried. As you cried you were thinking about you and her together. The police have arrived and quickly entered her house go upstairs, they saw you crying and one of them picked you up, and they looked at the body and called his brother. After that incident, you visited her grave and cried. You remembered the diary and you decided to read it.

People say that DDLC should be banned but honestly it really brought awareness into my life. I remember it came out when I was 11 and I watched youtubers play it and it not only helped me realize that I probably had depression but I also learned there are other people out there struggling with the same thing. There are people out there who feel just trapped and that the have to act fine and happy, and that I wasn't alone. It really brought suicide awareness into my life and helped me realize what the base of depression really is. I love ddlc and it will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️
