I do feed the crows when I do my daily walk. They know me and they follow me.
I'm feeding them with the in-shell peanuts, ...one at the time. They are patient and quiet, being vocal only at the beginning, calling for other crows to come from the tree tops.
To get the peanut from me, they will have to land near me like 1-2 meters from me.
They feel safer when I do not look into their eyes directly, so I don't.
Also, I never stop my walking to feed them, and they know that, some are lending less than a meter from me, one at the time.
    Very smart birds.
I do enjoy my daily walks with them.

I have always whistled when I feed the crows in my city. I can call them now :) It can be dead silent and I whistle and within 2 minutes I get a response. Fills my heart.

Feeding my crow's since 2 years, its a couple and the behaviour is amazing. They always sit on the same Place at the same time in the morning and waiting for me :) they get cashews, because its their "favorite" nuts. Both follow me trough the City where I live. When I stand and wait for Green to pass the street, they sit 1 m over me on traffic shields and look down at me with curious black crow eyes. Love them both :)

Wait until they start talking to you. That will send you to your psychiatrist. Mine understand English perfectly and can hear me speaking inside my closed vehicle from 100 yards away. They followed me to a friend's house a few weeks ago. I remarked, "What would you do if you could command a murder of crows to do anything you wanted?" She replied, "I'd send them to peck out the eyes of my neighbor's dog for chasing the deer in my yard." When I went outside 15 minutes later, the crows were dive-bombing the neighbor's dog. I spent 10 minutes quietly talking them down (I dare not yell, besides they can hear a whisper at 500 yards), saying things like, "She really didn't mean it. I don't think she meant it. We should be nice to all living creatures. You really need to stop that now, it's not nice. It's time to go home, you guys. That's enough." They calmed down eventually, no harm to the poor confused dog. No one is ever going to believe this.

You’ve helped me with rescuing a young crow that I found a week ago. He was on the road he was not moving his wings and walked very badly. He’s gotten so much better now and so quickly, I’m releasing him back to where I found him tomorrow. I didn’t know what to feed him in the beginning so you were a great help. Fingers crossed it goes well for him tomorrow and Thanks. 🤞🏻

Starlings are more of a menace in my area than crows could ever be! I'd love to befriend some crows, but I never really see them in my area. I feed the neighborhood birds, which include house finches, song sparrows, mourning doves, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Carolina Chickadees and Tufted Titmouses. I love watching them all hanging about, eating and bathing at the little bath I made for them. Very relaxing!

    • @KrariTheCrow

Hi, I am curious what is the problem with starlings?

    • @American-Jello
      @American-Jello 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@KrariTheCrow European Starlings aren't native to the USA, and are an invasive species. 60 pairs were introduced in NYC by a bird enthusiast in 1890. Those 60 pairs have exploded into 200 million since then.
They wreak absolute havoc on our native species, aggressively taking over nesting sites and food, displacing native species so often that the decline of several native species are attributed to them. They flock in numbers so vast, they cause plane crashes, they have swarmed homes, neighborhoods, damaged property etc. They are, to say the least, not generally looked upon favorably here in the USA.
That being said, personally, I can't help but appreciate their ability to adapt, their intelligence and ability to mimic vocalizations of other birds (and humans!) , their beautiful colors, and their antics. It's just such a shame the negative impact they've had on the locals.

I have started feeding a crow family in the neighbourhood this spring. They love unsalted peanuts and dog food. Also always put water out for them. I have made a lockable container out of plastic bottles for the food, so that the seagulls will not be able to eat everything. Only the crows are smart enough to unlock and open the container.🙂

  • @kestrelsandcrows6871

I also came to the conclusion that spreading food over various places is good practice. For some reason most humans put food in a single place, but a pile of food is rarely found in nature. It is not what most birds are adapted to.
Yesterday a crow made noise like hell next to my flat. I looked out of the window and saw the crow sitting on a street sign, while a cat was running away below. Probably small songbirds see crows as the minor threat.

This is brilliant information. I have watched a few other Krari videos here.
I know what more to offer them.
I have two groups, or especially two single crows that recognise me. One as I enter a large park and flies ahead of me over some distance, as he knows I have Monkey nuts to feed him several times. He has spotted me leaving later walking on the road outside and pops down for more. I generally wear the same hat and backpack though not always, and whatever jacket and clothes I'm wearing he recognises me in the mid to late afternoons.
There is another very quiet garden area inside the park where other crows, particularly one who will sit next to me (there is one untidy feather on her back) and I dish out a large bag of peanuts so that every one gets a share and I think they appreciate I'm being kind and fair. They enjoy a shell bouncing toward them and catching it.
This is where I confess there are two types of crow or raven or other mentioned here. I'm fairly new at this and struggle to find the correct info but I'll get there.
Also I befriended two great squirrels seperately over several months in a Green behind the town. They both disappeared despite the first female returning in April last year presumably from hibernation. I think the authority euthanised them all as they're all (max 10) now gone. I'm pretty upset about this.
I still go to this green area as well and spread a bag of bird seed for the local pigeon group! They used to become scattered by the few crows there while eating together in a large group of around 20, but those crows now will not disturb the pigeons after I initially clap my hands at them and now they know i will throw them peanuts if they leave them alone and these crows have also become very patient, friendly and considerate.

I looved reading that! Please continue feeding the animals in your environment ! I saw in the last scientific animal report about extinction and i was really shocked this time.
Did you know that about 70% of all ants in the developed countries have disappeared over last 10 years? Butterflies disappeared about 60%, consequently OUR birds in drastically fast time! About 50% of birds which were around the 90s in europe/america have died out!!
So please continue supporting keeping them alive, at least during the winter months, you dont have to feed large amounts of food or a large colony, a small family goes a long way aswell.
Ive been feeding birds in the winter for 4 years now too

My mated coupled pair of a few years have always cawed the other crows away like they own me but they do allow other critters like squirrels, many species of birds , and even rats to be near . When ever I have left overs, I pick the part out that they can eat, rinse it off, and serve it to them. Sometimes I do have cheese in my scrambled eggs, but minimal salt and seasonings. I just pick the part without the cheese and they LOVE it...and puppy chow from the dollar store. I love them, and all the critters, and especially the hummingbirds.🐦🐦🐦🐈‍⬛

I live in a very small town in Germany and like 50m from my house is a small forest part, where usually ppl go to walk their dogs.
So i started feeding birds, especially crows, jays and magpies during the winter months. Now its the 3rd year i do this, every 2nd day after work.
I either collect leftover bread from work/house, buy natural cereal (which is by far cheaper than designated bird food for whatever reason), raisins/older fruit (like apples, pears, peaches, kiwis, bananas) and ofc nuts/seeds which r cheaper to buy.
I noticed crows n magpies like peanuts and sunflower seeds.
Nevertheless the birds know me very well. So whenever im on my way to that forest the birds catch up on me and fly out of their way first to call their collony that i am sharing food again. Then more and more birds start calling and come by and rest on the top of the trees right next to me. The biggest bird colony, like jays, often times start flying in very big colonies/flocks, it look like their dancing for me, are excited for food and or are showing thankfullness to me.
Usually the birds leave me alone most of the time, only rarely i catch 2-5 birds on the path who are impulsive and fly down near me to start eating. They deliberatly wait till im finished distributing the food.
How often i wanted them to just come dowm to me but no. I made my peace with that, cs i know, 5 minutes after i left and sit on my porch, i start hearing flocks of different birds screaming, singing for food and everytime I come back, the foods already eaten mostly.
Everytime I leave the place, some of the birds do follow me right until my own house, maybe they wanna know where i live or. Last winter they got so used to me, that they started flocking on my house roof and the roofs of my neighborhoods. But my neighbors complained about the noise and bird poop so i stopped feeding them in my own garden.
Plus this year, as if the birds catched up on that, they rarely follow me/stay by the roofs near me.
Also this year around im seeing bird nests all over that small forest part.
Its so cute watching them and their behavior i really grew fond of birds.
Generally my family has a big garden around our house and it is important to us to have a lot of plants - my mom and i start late winter/ early spring to plant every kind of garden plants + we grow lots of own food, like cucumbers, zucchinis, tomatoes, parsley, garlic, sunflowers, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, other berries Idk the english words for, grapes and we have 3 Apple trees and 1 pear tree.
Thus we help greatly the insect, bee and animal population to keep alive - they all eat most of the fruits/vegetables we plant yearly which is our intention too.
Its like our calling and a great hobby at that.
Plus at my work (nursing home) i help several patients, who are disabled to buy food for their animals, mainly dogs and parrots - I buy the essentials for them &they give me the money back.
Plus i personally breed maine coon cats, we keep 5 of them permanently at our house + I feed several stray cats, who come visit our house/garden daily.
Ive always felt that my calling in life was to help the animals/nature in my own environment.

The misconception about feeding crows, thus increasing the amount of crows, and thus reducing the amount of small songbirds is so old and so common that the Berlin authorities have published a statement about that a long time ago:
    www.berlin.de/sen/uvk/_assets/natur-gruen/naturschutz/artenschutz/freilandartenschutz/raben.pdf
As usual, humans are the reason for the decreasing number of small songbirds in the cities.
