Written by revolutionary Urdu poet of 20th century Faiz Ahmad Faiz . He was nominated for nobel prize twice.

About the night of the union part, it actually says "Although it's the morning of parting, it feels as if the sun of separation has set and the night of union has arrived". So it's actually the opposite of it lol. It's about separation and yearning, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz, the poet, was a revolutionary poet (also a communist) against military dictatorship in Pakistan, wrote this for his wife while in prison. I believe this poem was published in 1951.
Faiz's work - although using traditional themes of love, intimacy, romance, and separation - mostly has political undertones as well.

Sir, greetings from Pakistan. Now this is a coke studio classic. A brilliant poem written by the legendary poet of the last century "Faiz Ahmed Faiz". This is a song of separation and longing. In fact, he wrote it while in prison in 1949 or 1950 I think. However, towards the end, it definitely gives hope. And that is why your reactions always top the list. Brilliant comments indeed and that is because of your full focus and concentration on all aspects of the song. Excellent stuff indeed. This song is extremely popular here in Pakistan and sung by several singers. Coke studio version was also good. Urdu language through the use of various metaphors is so poetic like this one. Such beautiful lyrics. Loved each and every part of the song and reactions. A complete package indeed. Best wishes for the channel. With warm regards

An iconic Ghazal/Nazm originally sung by Tina Sani (a legendary female singer), its written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz probably best most recent Urdu poet. Faiz was one of the most celebrated, popular, and influential Urdu writers of his time and his works and ideas remain widely influential today in Pakistan and beyond, Outside of literature, he has been described as "a man of wide experience" having worked as a teacher, British military officer, journalist, trade unionist, and broadcaster. Faiz was the first Asian poet to be awarded the Lenin Peace Prize (1962) by the Soviet Union and was also nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature. He was posthumously honoured when the Pakistan Government conferred upon him the nation's highest civil award - the Nishan-e-Imtiaz - in 1990. Faiz, whose work is considered the backbone of development of Pakistan's literature, arts and poetry, was one of the most beloved poets in the country. Along with Allama Iqbal, Faiz is often known as the "Poet of the East".

Dasht-e-Tanhai is a popular Urdu Nazm with the title "Yaad". It was written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Originally composed by Mehdi Zaheer for Iqbal Bano, a premier Pakistani ghazal and semi-classical singer, it was later sung by Tina Sani and Meesha Shafi (Coke Studio).

this is actually very sad poetry, not about wedding. to me its about separation and the kind of permanent type, urdu poetry is very unique. like the part which you keep mentioning that the day of seperation have passed and the night to reunite have come is basically very dark, it can be about death and the day was basically life, life is about to end and he is happy that it passed. so this is how this poetry really is, sad and emotional

I think you didnt get it right, let me try to explain to you
    .
Night of togatherness and union is not about wedding and it has not happened in real, its just because of a feeling she had because of the memory of her lover she had with the great intensity.
    .
The beauty of this last stanza is that every line is not connected with the next line but with the one after next, for example 1st line is connected to 3rd line and 2nd line is connected to 4th, this makes this peotry really magical. now read that again.
    .
    1. With great intensity of love,
    2. on the cheeks of my heart,
    3. Your memory placed its hand.
    4. that, its feeling like,
    5. Even though this is still the dawn of our seperation,
    6. the sun of our seperation has set
    7. and the night of our union is arrived.
    .
    Now read in the order 1, 3, 2, 4, 6, 5, 7
