MERYL: Who are you? SNAKE: I was really impressed with the way you busted out of there. MERYL: The one from the prison? SNAKE: You're the Colonel's niece, Meryl right? MERYL: No, it's not him..... Just exactly who are you? SNAKE: I'm the fool that your uncle sent all alone in the middle of this whole mess. MERYL: You came by yourself? You think you're some kind of one-man army? SNAKE: I don't need lectures. You're just like your uncle, you know? MERYL: How do you know my uncle? SNAKE: We go way back. MERYL: What's your name? SNAKE: My name is not important. MERYL: A-ha! Could you be Snake? Are you Solid Snake? SNAKE: That's what some people call me. MERYL: The legendary Solid Snake? You?! Sorry about before, I wasn't sure if you were one of the good guys. SNAKE: But I knew you were. MERYL: How? SNAKE: It's your eyes. MERYL: My eyes? SNAKE: They're not soldier's eyes. MERYL: They're rookie's eyes right? SNAKE: No, they're beautiful, compassionate eyes. MERYL: Oh just what I expected from the legendary Solid Snake. You're trying to sweep me off my feet? SNAKE: Don't worry, you'll land back on them once you meet me. The reality is no match for the legend I'm afraid MERYL: Oh I don't believe that!
The tension is immense in this piece. Takes me right back to being a kid, weapons banned and just a box to get me to the elevator. My heart rate is increasing just hearing this.
This is the best version of the Warehouse track. Twin Snakes and Integral versions have nothing on this. Minimalistic with lots of subtle efforts to convey the plodding sense of claustrophobia, perfectly coupled with the CODEC lines to put you on edge, checking every move you make for fear of being caught. Beautiful.
I keep telling ppl: this music just elevated this game to a whole other level. Mind you the ps1 graphics made it hard to take most other games seriously. But this soundtrack, and the edginess of the story and concept made this game just incredible. I really would play this area and feel like I could die at any minute. It brought that intensity of being a soldier right to your face.
listening to this in the middle of the night, and I miss the Shadow Moses vibes. I feel very sad because Solid Snake sacrificed himself for all of us, and I wished I could do something for him
To those just now getting into MGS, this is actually the 3rd game in the series. The numbers after the title basically just indicate when they were released. Chronological order of actual events is as follows: -Metal Gear Solid 3 -Metal Gear Peace Walker -Metal Gear Solid V -Metal Gear (NES) -Snake's Revenge (NES) -Metal Gear Solid (PS1) -Metal Gear Solid 2 -Metal Gear Solid 4 There's some other offshoots here and there, but it's up to you if you want to dive down that rabbit hole ;).
You forgot Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Snakes Revenge isn’t actually cannon. Snakes Revenge is the crappy version we got in the US. Kojima had nothing to do with this game.
I think that this Song, along with 'Duel' are the most iconic soundtracks of the Saga. I feel like I want to sneak in a tanks hangar or in a warhead storage everytime I hear It.
"Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg… and my arm… even my fingers. The body I’ve lost… the comrades I’ve lost… won’t stop hurting… It’s like they’re all still there. You feel it, too, don’t you?"
Please.. OH PLEASE let them use the original soundtrack IF they make a remake of this game for the PS5. Oh, and lets not forget to use David Hayter for Snake his voice and NOT use Kiefer Sutherland for crying out loud! In fact, use all of the original voice actors. People these day's intend to mess around and create something completely new while stating: - We want to re-make and keep the originality intact.
Why was the music so much more orchestral, epic and....better in MGS1 than in any of the sequels when they were all done by the same guy? The boss theme and shit like this made you feel like you were a mythical hero. MGS2's "normal/gameplay" theme felt more like elevator music. What was the design choice behind that, I wonder?
Currently listening to this in the dead of night while its snowing. Makes me feel right back at Shadow Moses
I know that feel..
music in this game really did that lol
Same as the sun is just rising so it’s still a tad bit dark
Can you see a hind d in the distance?

One of my favourite tracks of the game... It's been 20 years since I listened for the first time.

“Could you be Snake? Are you Solid Snake?”
“That’s what some people call me…”
bumped this everytime when you would return to Shadow Moses in mgs4
Currently my ringtone. Man, it’s great
Boxes, cold, lava and all.
This track is also heard in the Tank Hangar.
This song is FIRST heard in the Tank Hangar, so I'm surprised it's name after Warhead Storage.
Absolute banger
absolute hangar...a hangar banger

Great upload, thanks bud!
i wish today games just learn how to make music like this
That moment where all your weapons are useless (except for Chaff Grenades)
not unless you snipe em all before you crawl to the other side of the door haha
When I was younger, I had no idea what they were for. I thought "what the heck is chaff?" Lol
This is my song when roaming the hallways in school. Especially when the halls are empty
I love how it sounds like noises Snake makes whenever he crouches

Asking myself what I want in life while I listen to this
Did you find your answer?
Well -did you, Punk?
This song reminds me of when I snuck of the hospital
Colonel: Be careful, you absolutely must not use weapons in that area
Naomi: I already programmed the nanomachines so he won't be able to, Colonel.
When I was a child I was so afraid to get caught by those yellow soldiers lol
Then you make one wrong move and see that big " ! " over a guards head and you're hit with ENCOUNTER.
one of my favorite game stunning music n stunning creation one of the classics from KONAMI
i can hear the "ah.... what was that noise? " in my head

Great Game. Proof that Japan knows so little about being American. No matter how hard they try. Good music, though.
