Yep this was a big moment for them, and they were actually supposed to sing on The Tonight Show with Kenny but there was a storm and they were unable to get there in time. Tim has spoken about it during some of his storytimes. Glad you had the opportunity to watch this.

This is one of my very favorite songs! Way back in the sixties, I listened to Bill Monroe sing this then most of my life growing up and into adulthood (and now as a "senior citizen") , I've listened to Ricky Skaggs sing it. It'll be great to hear Kenny Rogers sing it! This song is a Bluegrass classic! ( actually, it's extremely common. Most Bluegrass and country singers are bible-believing Christians. They very frequently are on stage together. You should see the Gaither Gospel Hour... You'll see unlimited Talent all they're singing the same hymns. It's not the talent that puts them together, it's the Holy Spirit.)
I saw an old B&W video on TH-cam the other day of Tennessee Ernie Ford singing this same song with a group of children singing around him and one child keeps acting up. The audience begins to laugh...turns out it was HIS child causing the laughter. Really good video!!

I don't know if it was ever available in the U.S. but in the early 1970s they had a show (taped in Toronto, Ontario) called Rolling On The River. One of my favourite songs was called "One Lonely Room" - I don't know if that album is still available.
You should check out Kenny Rogers' early songs as part of The First Edition, like Ruby, or Just Dropped In To See..., both really good songs from early 70s.
