- THE VIDEO IS FINALLY HERE! All about the Moorish idol! This fish is one of the most well known salt water fish in the aquarium. Does it have to do something with Scar from Finding Nemo? I honestly don't know. But this fish does take an expert and a pristine tank to take care of.

Why is it always the most interesting fish (in my opinion) that are the ones that do the worst in captivity

I don't want to buy a Moorish Idol to make him feel unhappy and see him pass away just because I can't buy a big tank and have many other things!... I wanted one because my favorite character is Gill from finding Nemo but I heard they die easily and I don't want myself to be happy for it, I want him to be happy because it's about him being in the tank not me!... I don't want to harm any animal because they don't deserve it and I'm happier if a Moorish Idol is happy in the ocean like Gill!...❤️
I juat got mine about a 3 weeks ago amd it is in Quarantine. I got it at a deal $55😸. I had trouble with him eating processed food for the first week. I started off feeding mysis shrimp, brin shrimp and chopped salmon. Now he eats everything i throw at him pellets, flakes, mastick ect. I also grab a bit of hair alge from my sump to feed him. I am just hoping it doesn't go after my acans and goniopora.

So i have a 29 gallon tank i bought a moorish idol today and he came with no signs of stress😮
Moorish Idol for a 29 gallon? Not a saltwater fishkeeper myself, but from what I know, these fishes are about the same size as a discus. I truly hope this is a temporary tank for it to grow to a certain size then placing it in a big tank around 75 gallons.
They are a close relative of the butterfly fish. They are not actually surgeon fish. Surgeon fish get their name from the blades on their tail which the moorish idol does not have. Cool video though.

is all about the way they been ship and keep in the pet shop i had one for over a year he ate like a pig everything even flake food , lost him because i had to go on vac to see my mom and the one that was taken care of him didnt do a good job but i will have one soon when i have my 75 gal going

I was thinking about keeping one but I think he'll be very happy in the wild!... I could solve the problem with my wild cottontail by picking grass from outside and he's always a free roam bunny! but still don't know how to solve it with a Moorish Idol... I think I'll have to buy a 200 gallon tank or maybe just not have any... I don't want to kill innocent animals just for because I want to have it!

Look into getting a heniochus, very similar in looks but much easier to take care of

Nandha Kumar Brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp, and blood worms seem to be the best. They also like to graze for algae on the tank.
