There's just something so nostalgic about watching koston skate in baggy jeans/cargo pants and basketball shoes. Oh and the occasional Lakers jersey haha. Man it brings back memories. Golden Era of skateboarding. The 2000s
Watching this dawned a realization that TIME is real. Tangible. In every way, shape and form, life is so different. Every emotion evoked watching this and thinking back and never thinking then that we all would age and our teenage or early 20s self would cease to exist. There are some emotions and feelings I felt then and never again. Unreal and no words to express.
This was the best time in skateboarding. Literally some of the most important videos came out around this era. And in general things were much more interesting. You had to physically wait to buy a VHS to get the latest content. The excitement of getting the latest skating video was immense.
@@hmstrong6694 Yeah, I remember when a new video would come in to the skate shop and me and my buddies would pester the employees there to play the video and we would just stand there for like a whole hour watching the videos until it was over. Great times.
First skate movie i ever saw. I remember when i bought my first board the skateshop gave me this movie as a gift. Then koston became one of my hero. The first board i chose was a girl koston and i can't remember how many times i watch this movie.
There's a reason the statement "Koston is the best to ever do it" is held so high in the skateboarding community, still to this day I can't think of one skater with such unique insane style with a bag of tricks like Koston had back then
@@recession81 lol Penny n Koston was IT from like 95 thru 98. In 23 years I haven't seen anybody mention how many nollie and switch tricks are in this video. Homie made at least 85% of his part skating switch. Insane. And the fact that skateboarding is getting better and gnarlier is even crazier!
Back when skaters were like a lil secret society. Floating around relatively unnoticed and in smaller tight knit groups going to office complex and school yards after hours. Now I can't even go to a spot without the "hey they have skateparks speech" or skate fast in a SKATEpark without soccer moms telling me how skateboards should behave, while their kid sits on the box. This part is so well put together and koston doing what he does best. Awesome to rewatch many years later. Still gives me chills lol
Yeah, I remember watching this for the first time too with my friends after waiting for the vid to release for months. Was looking for a new Tom Penny part but the whole vid blew me a way. Good times!
Every part in this video is gold! Arto, TX, McCrank, Koston, Burnquist even Penny and Creager had good parts. And this is one of the first videos where it felt crafted by a director. French Fred forever!
I always loved this part cuz they did a great job of paring the landing sound of the sk8board with the song. Koston was a huge inspiration to me when I was growing up, too bad I dropped skateboarding 17 years ago, I should have kept going.
This was suchhh a good video. I remember i was 10 years old when this dropped i was like mesmerized. It was the first of the real cinematic skate videos. I always loved how kostons tricks lined up with the beat.
I was in highschool when this video came out. I've always thought it was one of the best skate videos to ever come out. I still do to this day. If that video were to come out today it would still be considered an amazing video. And Eric's part would still be considered jaw dropping good. Stuff that comes out nowadays just don't seem to have as many hammers as this video did...and this was from 12, 13 years ago!
What I find so fascinating about the music being synced up to the skating is that it makes me aware of the 'music' of skateboarding. There's definitely some kind of rhythmic component to it, a flow of emotion brought about by meticulous repetition and mastery which can then be felt by the spectator.
I remember my best skate-buddy’s older brother hand me over a copied vhs cassette that said “Menikmati” on the home made sticker. “You should definitely watch this”. And I did, to many times to count. Legendary. Tom penny, Arto Saari and ofc Koston.
This is a Legendary video. Kids, he is not just fun guy doing only slappy grind. He is on the top of my favourite skater list and probably most balanced skater.
Not sure if everyone will agree but i feel like this era koston was the only time in modern skateboarding when there’s been a consensus best skateboarder alive
holy shit i totally forgot about this video but i remember being so blown away. koston has always been one my my favorite skaters too so this is a nice dose of nostalgia.
Him and Chad muska were my two Idols back then. I started skate boarding in 1999. Those two were doing big and new things back then. And Eric was doing incredible stuff in switch position. By 2005 i got pretty good but injuries are often and tough on the body when boarding. And two broken ankles and a broken arm, made me stop. I wish I could of been half as good as muska and kostin. My favorite skate video was fulfill the dream.
Why are you guys all talking about the k3's? the k1's were one of the best shoes ever made. I skated those shoes hard for like atleast 2 years straight.
Yea but the K3s clearly were a Jordan inspired skate shoe which is crazy to think about. Both amazing shoes but design wise the K3 was a huge risk and very bold.
