「クマバチ」といえばこの蜂です。シンプルなデザインがいいですね。
スズメバチ並に大きいのにめったに人を刺さないところや、体に対して羽が小さすぎて「飛べるはずがない」と科学者を悩ませたエピソードなど、ネット上で妙に人気があります。
This is the bee commonly referred to as the 'Kumabachi' or carpenter bee. Its simple design is quite nice.
Despite being as large as a hornet, it rarely stings people. It also has a peculiar popularity online, partly due to the story of scientists being puzzled by how it can fly with such small wings for its body size.
