The answer is no for me. Educating our people is the answer, where are the incentives for Americans? Foreigners getting incentives we get told we are uneducated and lazy by billionaires. I'm not on these excuses....

Except they're not wrong, much of America is uneducated and lazy. And our educated are often entitled and picky. It's going to take a cultural shift to change that. If we have to learn it from other cultures with a better and more traditional work and family ethic than ourselves, then so be it.
When the self-appointed elites have to compete with hard working legal immigrants, when American students can go to other countries to get their professional degrees from colleges that cost a fraction of the tuition, without getting indoctrinated into Leftism, things will change. Believe it.

When H1B workers are used to fill junior accountant positions for less than $34k/yr, that's not a "best and brightest" job, it's a job for a kid with a HS diploma and some vocational training. This is a program of institutionalized indentured servitude designed to suppress compensation in any domestic labor market against which it can be leveraged.

At the same time, it's worth it to remember that the policy is still in flux, and compromise is possible; this likely should be treated similarly to competing manufactured goods imported into the US, i.e., with something akin to a tariff. Genuinely keep it to "best and brightest" class jobs, and keep people from abusing it for lower-skilled work. It's a simple change that gets Elon and Vivek exactly what they said they wanted it for while also maintaining an America First policy position. Even for the highest-end work, it should always be more expensive to hire from abroad for a position in the domestic US.

H1B visas are explicitly foreigners as you don't need a visa to find someone domestically to do the job.
The wider problem is the fact not every culture is the same or puts as much emphasis on honest brokering and quality as the US does. India and China both have significant education and accreditation fraud problems. If nothing else, I would put a total ban on visas from non-Europeans until the recipient can prove their qualifications from our accreditation system.

Nicole Shanahan posted an interesting thread on this issue on her X on the 26th that described why the system needs an overhaul. One key point she makes is that the system incentivizes people to come here and work tough, grueling jobs at low entry-level salaries because if they're good at their job then they can get fast-tracked to a Green Card and then legal status which can lead to bringing in their families through chain migration. So, removing the incentive of attaining legal status would absolutely reduce the numbers of foreign applications and force Big Tech to hire Americans and to pay competitive wages. Stock values and quarterly earnings are great, but how about being a little patriotic?

The H1B visa is just corporations wanting handouts in terms of skilled labor without investing the time and effort at training employees. They expect candidates to come to them with all the specialized knowledge that they need. They could easily solve this problem by hiring employees with some of the qualifications and training them up on the rest. It's also about trying to lower wages by increasing more competition for jobs. And it's costly to start a company and if you hire a bunch of people who have little to NO experience making electrical chips, its going to be hard to make good chips. That becomes a barrier to entry preventing the company from ever even starting.
